Thanks George,
Only bad thing about the joint bank accounts is the ones I deal with in CA require her to sign the form , in person. No ways around it but I'll ask again to make sure.

Just found that the USCIS website isn't completely in love with Mozilla Firefox........if you are having issues and are on a pc, then try the explorer browser and it should be complete albeit slow. I had to use this to sign up for text and email notification of my petition. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks George,
Our plan is to get a copy of Elsa's passport certified/notarized at the US Embassy in Manila while there and use it as proof as required to establish the right to have an ITIN and include the completed W-7 and it when I file next Spring. We'll already have our ducks in a row by the time it happens. I was under the false assumption we could pre-file but since we don't fall into an exception, the paperwork must be sent to Texas as Loto stated and you clarified for me. If I read the directions correctly, the certified copy of the passport is the only document that can stand alone for both proofs. IRS Obtaining an ITIN from Abroad Hope this helps and thanks again George,Loto!!!

I'm in the same boat for 2010. I researched and in Angeles City, there is an approved agent for issuing/taking the ITIN info. I'll see if my wife, who's in Manila, can contact them to see if she could obtain the number there. There's also approved agents in other countries listed on the site.ITIN Acceptance Agent list I hope post adds to the solution........and not the problem. Also my accountant stated that in order for us to file jointly, we'd need SSN or ITIN and that if we got the ball rolling, we should have our ITIN's in plenty of time for tax season. Good luck!

You can call, prompt 2, then 3 for exchange rates and then 2 for Philippines. No human interface. Or you can go to the WF online account site (setting up Express Remittance took 1 1/2 days wait for processing) and just plug in the amount you wish to send to the beneficiary. It will give you the currrent rate, fees, ect and it would be your choice to send it or cancel the transaction. I've used Xoom and this currently is the least expensive. Ultimately the choice will depend upon personal choice and convenience.

Armenia, you may need to do some more research on the matter of WF. They have multiple exchange rates depending on how you are sending the funds and how they're received. The number to call is 800-556-0605 and follow the prompts to exchange rates. Today's rate, account to account, is 42.34 php to USD. I too was confused till I looked further into all of it and opened an account (after multiple questions for the account specialist). There are some hoops to jump thru but consistently WF's exchange rate is higher and fees smaller.
I'm not on WF payroll, just thankful they offer this reasonable service. Pretty quick too if sent before 3pm!

My bad on the fees......it's $2.50 as you stated. They also partner with BDO, my wife's bank:D. Thanks VERY, VERY much as we have a church wedding in December coming up......I owe you one!!

Hope I'm not too OC but I'll be including both the tax return AND tax account transcripts.....had a couple corrections.....
.......the price is right for both and more information is better than not enough I believe.

Thanks all!!!!! Just called WF and they said with Direct Deposit the fees will be $3.50 each......at the current daily exchange rate at time of transfer.....going to open my account tomorrow as this works for me...better my wife to have the extra than the bank.....

Hi,
It took us two trips to do it "right". We had the license and posted exactly at the 10 day mark after rushing to the embassy and city hall the day of my arrival. Judge decided that we didn't have the right paperwork though
....(oopss, YOU WERE WRONG JUDGE!!!!
) Took another visit since day 10 was the day I was returning home. The license is good for 120 days anywhere in the Phils so if it's a possibility, plan two trips. We just got our 130 accepted and sent to CSC so it is possible, just takes time. Best of luck with it!!

Elsa and I use Ooma...costs upfront but can use it without the computer being on all the time. Free calls to anywhere in the US too. Might be worth the look see. We tried magic jack and it didn't work for us too well....may be case specific. Best of luck!!!!!!
Can only log into account on 1 computer

Might want to try a different browser or settings. IE allowed me to interface with setting up my text and email notices while Mozilla didn't get along with the site. Hope this helps some...
