  1. I agree completely. It appears they pulled adjudicators away from the fiance(e) visas to work on other the backlog. Are they going then pull people to assist with the fiance(e) visa backlog?

I know, it completely feels like they've only got 5 people working at the service center, and they only ever concentrate on one type of visa at a time. Can somebody please tell them that's hardly efficient...?

By the way, it seems you and I are taking the exact same journey. Race me to the finish line!

  2. I check the progress several times each day to try to determine what CSC is doing.

Based in VJ reports, it seems CSC is focused on I-130s (IR-1/CR-1) applications, with up to five or six receiving an NOA2 each day.

You can see this in the following link:

    CSC - 1-130 status

Meanwhile, the 1-129Fs are having little or no movement. You can watch CSC's processing of I-129Fs here:

    CSC - 1-129F status

I cannot wait until 1-129Fs pick up again...

This info seems a lot more detailed than the table of "Approximate Processing Dates" that you find when you click on "Immigration Timelines." I don't really understand how that table is put together. The dates for CSC change by several weeks at a time sometimes on that chart, even though little seems to be happening on the more detailed reports based on the links above.

Good luck to all! May your love endure, and your visa come quickly!

I think you could very well be right about that. It is frightfully discouraging, though, that they seem to be working on the people who filed in April... If they're trying to eliminate that backlog, we could be waiting until next summer.

With visa fees and unemployment rates going up, you'd think they'd do well to start hiring extra help...

  3. Another newbie and May 31 filer... NOA received June 10 and no touches since June 17. Waiting anxiously to see some movement from the CSC. Actually feeling a lot better reading this forum and knowing we're not the only ones waiting... misery loves company eh? Good luck everybody.

I am so scared now that, with all the people calling and complaining (which I dn't get to do until December 12 - argh!), they're going to get pissed off and change their official processing time to 8 months or something... I mean, surely there's nothing stopping them from doing that?? And I would go insane if they did.

I think I'll start a rally of summer filers to storm the gates of the CSC. Who's with me!?

  4. I feel so pathetic... Since I've been checking Igor's list many times a day, seeing a new pair of names above BOB and SHARAN made me yelp! And I still know I will probably go past my 5 month date before anything happens for me.

But then pessimism has always brought me pleasant surprises, so who knows.

In any case, I sincerely hope you 81 June filers get approved in record time, so I'm next in the queue! Honestly, I wouldn't wish this waiting game on my worst enemy. At least my honey is coming out to see me in 29 days! It's when you get those first hugs and kisses that you know this process is worth it.

    Go California GO!!!!!

  5. Alright, I'm finally getting round to telling you about my experience at Chicago O'Hare on August 16 (see earlier posts for backstory). I was dreadfully nervous, it was my first visit since filing the I-129f. I brought as much proof as I could that I was enrolled in classes back home starting in October, but I didn't have a letter from an employer, I don't have a landlady or lease, no cars or any other strong material ties to Holland. I was somewhat freaked out.

Arriving in Chicago, i walked along to border control to find the most hideously long queue anyone can imagine in their life. Honestly, it was insane. Luckily I was standing next to a very nice woman who had been on my flight, but the whole queueing process took over two hours. And O'Hare has to have the darkest, most uninviting queueing area of any airport. I wilted like the potted plants, and sweated the sweat of fear. I was so hungry (airplane food...) and I knew I was screwed, as I had no concentration to stand up for myself if they got stroppy with me.

Finally, it was my turn. I was directed to the booth with the toughest looking, eager young guy. I handed him my passport, and here's how our exchange went as he fingerprinted me:

'How long are you staying for?'

    '5 weeks.'

'Who's this you're staying with?' (indicating the address on the form)

    'He's my fiance.'

    'He's an American citizen?'

'Yes, we're in the K-1 visa process.'

    *uninterested grunt*

    'When were you last here?'

'In January, I stayed for 4 weeks.' (Lies! It was 6! I don't know what made me say 4!)

    'Alright, enjoy your stay.'

He stamped me and off I went... It was by far the easiest border control I've ever had. I told the man at luggage I was visiting my fiance, and he had me run my suitcase through the additional x-ray, then I was out of that dank room and into the arms of my dearest!

I'm guessing the mass of people waiting in line made the guard unmotivated to make trouble (the queue was even longer when I left). But it gave me great faith that they don't have a problem with people visiting their fiance during this process!

Good luck to anyone who attempts this, it is just best to come as prepared as you possibly can.

  6. I am in the K1 process at the moment (between NOA1 and NOA2 - filed in June) and will be flying into Chicago to see my fiance this Monday. Since I've had some bad experiences with the O'Hare officers I am quite nervous... On top of that, I don't have a lease or letter from my employer to show them. But nothing ventured, nothing gained, and three months apart have taken their toll on me! So here is a list of the copies I'm taking along in case they get stroppy with me:

    NOA1

    Our letters of intent

    I-129F form

    Copy of my fiance's passport

Confirmation emails from a school in London I will be attending upon my return to Europe (a week after the date of my return flight)

Correspondence between my aunt and myself showing we have an agreement I will be staying with her in October and November

I know that last one is a little weak, but I'm hoping all of that together will sway the officer to let me through. I'll report back next week to let everyone know how it went. Wish me luck!

  7. Very interesting post. Thank you.

(Am I allowed to ask if you are the mythical dad or mum?)

Don't you start posting like Charles. That's all I need.

As keen as I am to have children, I am a tender age of twenty and haven't quite gotten around to it yet... But my parents have always been very supportive and unconditional in their affection for me, so I like to take their example (granted, I have never proposed a family business in high-class escort services).

  8. I am a believer in legalized prostitution (not surprising, coming from Amsterdam).

In this situation, it depends on the daughter. If she was smart and independent, going to college, seemingly having her life in order, and she came to me and explained in an adult way her choice of making money, and her motivation behind it, I wouldn't kick up a fuss. I don't think I'd be too happy about it, but I wouldn't stand in her way or judge her.

I think that if a woman believes she can separate love and sex, and feel alright within herself selling intimacy, that's her business. I would insist she charge high rates, though!

Of course, if I didn't feel she was very together, and had come up with this idea on a whim and hadn't researched it or thought it through, I would make an attempt to discourage her, or at least try to find out if she understands the possible consequences to her health and the way she views herself.

I think it's important for parents to show unconditional love towards their children, as far as that is possible.

  9. I have run across yet another very specific problem.

My fiance (the petitioner) has a home address, which he may possibly be moving from this coming October (we hope to send in our I-129F application in June). On top of that, he always has all his mail sent to his work address, including his credit card bills. How can we get the USCIS to use the work address for any communication they need (like RFEs - God forbid!). And if he does move, do we need to send a change of address to them, or to the NVC, if it's been moved onto them? It's a tricky issue, I know. I hope you visa gurus out there can help me!

  10. Had the same instance (had some really bad luck with my choices years ago).

I put the most recent two and then added a supplemental sheet as follows.

    I-129F Supplement, Part A, Item 9

    Prior Spouses Information

    To whom it may concern,

The following information is supplemental to Part A, Item 9 (Prior Spouses)

Names of Prior Spouses Date(s) Marriage(s) Ended

    Jane Doe 11/17/19XX

    Sincerely,

My name here (signed and dated)

I also provided certified copies of all divorce decrees.

Thanks, that's really helpful. Do you know if it's necessary to have certified copies, or can they be regular ones? Perhaps it would be best to get them anyway, I don't want those buggers to trip me up!

  11. That is what I would do if it were me/us. It is what the very first instruction says too.

"If you need more space to complete an answer, use a separate sheet(s) of paper. Write your name and Alien Registration Number (A #), if any, at the top of each sheet of paper and indicate the part and number of the item to which the answer refers."

    Welcome to VJ. :D

Ah, brilliant. Thank you very much! It's better to be safe than sorry with this application, I'd hate for it to take longer than it would need to...

  12. Hi there.

This is my first post here. My US fiance and I are in the middle of preparing the I-129F package. Everything is going well, except for this question 9: Names of Prior Spouses, and Dates Marriages Ended. There is only space for two prior spouses, but my fiance has been married and divorced three times. What do we fill in? His first marriage was back in the Seventies, so do we just fill in the last two, but add the third divorce certificate? Or is it better to out "Please see additional sheet" and put all three prior spouses' information on a separate piece of paper (like at question 18).

We're hoping to be able to get through this without having to get a lawyer, but I'm thinking I'll be calling on the expertise on here quite a bit!

Thanks for your help in advance.
