I got mine in 3 days but again, not very typical. I was talking to another VJer who had their interview the same day as you and they haven't received their passport either, and as of yesterday, the consulate hadn't even shipped it yet.
Less than an hour after I posted that, I got an email from the consulate saying DHL had picked up my passport, and gave me the waybill number
So, I have now changed my address in the system to come directly to my house!

I have a question for you...is there a reference number or does your page say anything? When I checked last Friday, it gave a "reference" number that was 5 letters, followed by 7 numbers. Next to that is said "At Consular Services." I think later in the day it changed to shipped, but the reference stayed the same. I tried using the reference number to track it on DHL.com and nothing would come up.
That was my mistake...I forgot to use DHL.ca. (I'm the USC and forgot to change .com to .ca.) Once I went to that site, I plugged in the "reference" number, and up popped the tracking information showing it was delivered that morning.
If you have anything showing as a reference number, try using that on the Canadian DHL website.
We were pretty shocked it was delivered only two days after the interview. Even the woman who did the interview said it should be shipped this week and we should have it by this Friday, not last.
Thanks, I'll check that out! I'm 99% sure I have a reference ID but not a waybill number. I'll check to see if DHL.ca offers any insight.
Thanks again

I'm just finishing my Bachelor of Education in Canada (it's 2 different degrees in Canada, whereas you can be a teacher in 1 degree in the US) and plan to HOPEFULLY get a job in California!

I do not believe my wife's wait time was average. We had the interview last Wednesday in Montreal and her VISA/passport arrived in Vancouver at DHL on Friday morning...2 days total.
That is awesome for you guys, but I think you're correct, that it's not really average. I've been waiting 8 days, and don't even have a waybill number yet, but I think that's pretty typical. The approval letter has a note on the back that says wait "approximatively" (yes, it really says approximatively) 6 - 7 business days.... so you guys are lucky!
-
also, yes, check to make sure you just pay the $150 penalty... usually you have to pay the current price! I would hate to see you end up owing way more than necessary.
Also, you might save a bunch if you just book on your own, rather than with a travel agent. I always just book with Air Canada or whoever has the best seat sale on, and I've never had any problems, other than typical delays
-
Yes please let me know when you get yours. Are you still in NS? When I was talking to my travel agent she said that the cost of changing the ticket would just be $150. for the penalty I think I will double check with her tomorrow. Peg told me that she called the consulate in Halifax to find out if her visa had been issued. If you check my profile page on here it is one of the comments in the bottom part. The number and info is there in the post from her.
I'm actually doing my teaching degree (B.Ed) in Ontario until April 29th, so I don't deal with Halifax... I've just been waiting to get my waybill number online and change my address to my Ontario address so I don't have to drive 2 hours to pick up my passport in London.
I'll let you know by PM or a comment on your profile when I get my passport... and I can let you know when it's been sent by MTL, too.

Hey jeannie, for what it's worth, I had my interview a week ago, and my waybill number isn't showing up online yet. I can let you know when I receive mine, if you want.
I might call DOS in the next few days to see if it's been printed.
I realize what you're saying about the price going way up, but did you know when you change flights, you pay the $75 penalty for changing PLUS the cost of the current ticket? So, you could end up paying the way higher price plus an extra $75. Just a thought!
-
congrats, Vanessa!
It may take a little longer than a week.... I had my interview a week ago and my waybill number isn't even on the site, let alone delivered yet. I'm not worried. the DHL info sheet they gave me said wait 6-7 business days, so it'll probably be there this week sometime. Anyway, just an FYI in case you expected it within the week!

If it was wrong, they might just ask you for the correct one at your interview, if they cared.
On the original I-129F, my fiance accidentally put HIS old A-number (he's naturalized) on the spot for MY A-number, which didn't exist at the time. At the interview, I saw how they had scratched it out, and put it under his name. Clearly they figured it out! I was pretty nervous that we would get RFE'd over it, but it was fine.
I'm sure Jeannie is right anyway, and it's the WAC or EAC or whatver Vermont uses

We need a Length-of-Process-it's-Not-Fair Complaints Forum.
That's precisely why I stopped coming on VJ until earlier this week since before Christmas! I get the process sucks and no one likes waiting, but it is what it is. Perhaps you should start said forum?? haha

Crongratulations CBM!!!!!!
You mentioned that you arrived at 7:25. What time was your appointment?
I'm just trying to calculate my timing. I really don't want to be stuck outside for an hour, but I don't want to be 'late' either. My appointment is at 8:30am. I am staying at a hotel just up the street and I am nervous that I will be stuck at the Consulate for hours! lol I need to check out at noon. (I'm propbably over reacting, and all will be fine!
lol)
I learned a mistake from my medical here in Toronto. I was told the doors opened at 6:30am. I got there at 6:15, and there were 3 people waiting outside ahead of me. I thought, no problem! Little did I know that there were 4 other poeple ahead of those 3 that were already inside getting processed
Clearly, the doors opened a lot earlier! lol
Thanks for the support Matt n Shannon!
Thanks for the congrats, everyone!!
My interview was also for 8:30 am, and I was out of there at 8:55 or 9:00 am, even with getting there at 7:25, what may be considered late by VJ standards! haha... That's just my preference though, since I would rather wait a little longer inside, sitting, where it's warm, than wait outside for hours, standing with all my stuff, where it's cold. Seriously, 7:15 would be plenty of time, because it is very organized. I was the very first person to be called for documents to Window 9, then the third person to be called for the interview, because I'm pretty sure I was third in terms of the appointment times. Don't worry about not being done by noon. You will easily be done by noon.

They really only care about arrests, which you were probably not for speeding. My fiance was naturalized last year and had a speeding ticket. It was not an issue. It never came up, they really don't care at all.

I didn't really :dance:come on VJ yesterday but we were approved!
haha I've been waiting 10 months to make that little man do the approved dance!
It was SO EASY, as everyone always says once they leave! It took less than 10 minutes for the actual interview, possibly less than 5. I didn't even take my coat off. They wanted 0 proof of relationship, but eagerly accepted the 2010 tax return rather than 2009 IRS transcripts.
Everyone was really nice, and everything seemed to be as the reviews said it would be!
Although, I will say one thing about the waiting. Everyone seems to be under the impression to get there as early as humanly possible, even if it means waiting outside for an hour in the - 20 Montreal winter. I don't really recommend that. I got there at 7:25, just as the doors were about to be open, and there were only 3 or 4 people ahead of me. Yeah, I got a lower number but I was still the 3rd person of the day to be interviewed, because I'm 99% sure they still call you by the order of your appointment time. So even though there were a few people ahead of me to pay and hand over some documents, I still interviewed before them, and didn't wait outside in the freezing wind for more than 5 minutes. Just my opinion on the matter!
Congrats to the other approved people this week!
-
Thanks, Vero! I have legit anxiety, so this has me in a ball of nerves, haha.... I'm trying not to be too worried, but I can't help but be worried at least somewhat! We have waited too long for this for me to ruin it somehow ... eeek!
I am leaving for MTL in a few hours, and staying with my sister there, so at least I won't be alone when I'm there!
I'll post my results Tuesday or Wednesday! Hopefully it's good news! Pray for us
-
Thanks! Good luck to you too! Maybe we'll see each other there.
Awe, well my interview is on Tuesday! But I look forward to seeing your approved post!
-
Thanks, ladies! I hope it goes well!
I'll report back on Tuesday evening!
-
I don't know why, but I am SO FREAKING ANXIOUS about this. I know we have nothing to hide and we have everything in order and we have a legitimate relationship.... I'm just so nervous! We've been waiting nearly 3 years to be together, so I don't want to mess it up.

Arrived in Montreal...going out to get something to eat and try to find a place to watch the Buffalo Sabres game.
Question: interview is scheduled for 9am, we should arrived around 7?
My interview is scheduled for 8:30 am and I plan to arrive around 7 am... I know the appointment letter says do not arrive more than 20 minutes in advance, but all the reviews say to get there early. I'm sure 7:30 or so should be fine for a 9 am interview.
Good luck tomorrow!
-
Good luck to you too! You have the same interview date as another VJer that I met at the medical, dvkk16.
I was wondering if there would be any fellow VJ'ers there on Tuesday! Liltiggster was also supposed to interview then, but I'm not 100% sure if she rescheduled, as neither of us have been on VJ much for the past several months.
Question for you! What are you bringing all your documents in? I have a binder with the I-129F stuff, plus all our visits documented, plus my wedding dress receipt, pictures of our wedding rings & my engagement ring, etc... so all the proof stuff..... plus a smaller binder with the stuff that is actually required for the interview. We aren't allowed to bring big purses but that's essentially what I need! So I was thinking about being lame and carrying it in a plastic grocery store bag haha (not even the reusable kind, just the regular 5 cent bag!!) ... maybe kind of lame, but at least it isn't considered a big purse and it should hold my stuff. I don't really want to walk around with $350 USD in my pocket, with papers flying all over the street, and end up being haggard before I even step foot in the building!
-
Hey everyone;
Been a few months since I've been around on VJ, but after 10 months, the interview is finally approaching! Here's what I have ready to go:
- passport
- $350 USD
- 4 US sized passport photos
- both letters of intent
- i134
- tax transcripts 07, 08, 09
- 2010 TurboTax tax return + W2s
- letter of employment
- pay stubs
- unsigned DS 230 (2 copies)
- DS-260 confirmation page
- medical results
- chest xray
- police certificate (plus copy)
- birth certificate (long version plus copy)
- updated DS-156K, as I had to send in an expired version with P4, stating I would bring an updated to my interview
- also all the relationship proof they could ask for - phone records, cards, emails, photos, boarding passes, passport stamps
- original i129F petition
- entire P4
One question..... my fiance did NOT check a box at the bottom of the i134, and just put "NA - k1 visa"... that's what the example form here has.
Has anyone in Montreal had problems with doing that; leaving the box unchecked??
Good luck to everyone who is interviewing this upcoming week!!!
Anything I am missing?!
-
Heather & Matt, I haven't been around on VJ in months, but I'm interviewing in Montreal on Tuesday morning, so I hope we both have good results this week!
GOOD LUCK!!!
-
Colleens I hope we hear happy news soon
I'm going to my parent's house on Thursday until January 2nd.... I haven't seen them since the end of August so I'm looking forward to it! And my fiance is coming too!
-
Hey guys, I already posted a topic in the UK forum and the embassy forum...but no one has replied and I need an urgent answer.
We are sending off our packet 3 tomorrow but I need to know if we have to provide copies of his birth certificate, police certificate, and new letters of intent with our forms? I had read that London didn't require this stuff until the interview, but the DS-230 forms say to include it.
THe DS forms for Montreal say to include it, but I didn't... and they accepted my forms and let me schedule the interview, so I think you're safe not sending them

Congrats!
Thanks for the helpful tips
foreign fiance is paying student loans
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures

they don't care. I owe a butt load of student loans and it was not even a consideration at the interview.
