  1. Hi! I have traveled twice to the Philippines (once by myself and the most recent trip with my husband) with my passport still in my maiden name and didn't have any problems :) I did have to show my marriage certificate as proof of the name change (because my green card is in my married name) when I left the Philippines both times but it might depend on the country. I didn't have any problems going through U.S. Immigration and Customs though ^_^ It can't hurt to bring your marriage certificate with you when you travel. And make sure the name on your ticket / boarding pass matches the name on your passport!

Okay! Thanks! I didn't know that the ticket should match your passport name. Thanks for that info! :)

  2. Hi guys,

Coco lala, sorry for my late answer. We are travelling in QC, Canada now. I am not online often. We will be returning on Monday. We drove from Texas!

So it will be my first time travelling back to US by land and with my extension letter. So I will let you know Jimnlena if I had the same problem than Lena. I hope it will be fine. I am bringing back some stuff that I still had in storage at my parents home.

About the name on the passport, I don't think they really care. Any of the officer had said anything to me about my maiden name in my passport and I renewed it last year on my maiden name.

Have a safe trip coco lala!

Have a great week end everyone!

    Jo

    thanks Jo&Si. Have a safe drive! :)

  3. Thanks for the response Jo&Si.

I'm just making sure because I don't want to make a new passport since my old one is still valid until 2014. I will be traveling back to Asia. :)

Just wondering did they look at your passport name or just put a stamp on it everytime you travel out of the country?

    HI Coco lala,

I traveled a lot back and forth to Canada and I didn't have any issue with my passport having my maiden name on it and my GC with my married name. I always carry my marriage certificate just in case with my birth certificate.

    Better be safe than sorry!

    Hope this help

    Have a great week

    Jo

  4. Hey guys,

I have a question, for those who already experience traveling to another country using your passport with your MAIDEN name on it since it is still valid.

Did you encounter any problem coming back to the States? Do you just have to bring and show your marriage certificate?

Since your greencard would have your married name not your maiden name anymore.

    Thanks for the inputs!

  5. I still don't have a biometrics too. I called a few times already. They just told me to wait for the schedule since it depends on how busy the local office is.

Yes no news is usually good news!

I can't even check my status online because I didn't get biometrics letter and it seems that I don't need to have one for now...So I think, I should expect a letter for biometrics appointment anytime in the future but don't know when...so weird that I am the only one with no biometrics!

  6. I tried calling again, Tier 2 agent told me so far no appointment has been made yet and just call again at the end of the month. So I'm calling next week to follow up again

Well enjoy your vacation. These things are out of our hands. Just need to wait and see.

For me, I had called and they told they will do a service request...few days later I received and email that I don't need to do biometrics ??? Really weird...I guess They will send me a letter when they will be ready for it...the problem I don't know when and it sucks for our vacation!

    good luck with yours

    jo

  7. Yes try calling them again. I told them what's the next step after 30 days of NO biometrics. They told me they will file a service request for me and notify the local office to followup on biometrics.

Indomex and coco lala Thank you for your responses

I called CSC. The customer service representative could not create a service request for me since my receipt number cannot be traced back in their database

So, I was connected to those directly working on cases. She was very cold and said I fall under normal processing time! I know it is not but atleast I brought the case to their notice. I will wait for a week from now and see how it goes.

  8. It depends whether you are moving to the state that assigned to the other service center, then they will have to transfer your file. But if you are moving withing the state or to the one that uses the same filing center, then you are fine. It won't slow down the process at all, just a simple update on the file. I went through this.

Thanks! That was a relief! So did you went through the change of address in your I 485?

What's the easiest way to change your address?

    Thanks! :star:
