Oh Lutz I am soooooooo thrilled and happy for you. And glad you got so proactive and went over there. Way to have your husbands back. I am sure it was a BIG plus with the CO. Congratulations to you both.
dwheels....thank you so much for the kind words. As you know, it's been such a long and stressful journey and we are both just glad it's over.

Lutz, he didn't tell me the reason. He said we can't issue you the visa at this time. And your file will be sent back to the USCIS.
I will need your help sooo much.
I will be glad if you can message me your number on my WhatsApp +233241143023
I don't have a phone here in Ghana and since we'll be leaving in a few weeks I don't want to get one.
You can message me privately here on Visa Journey. I get notifications when I have a message here so I'll be able to get back to you.
The same thing happened with my husband. They did not provide a reason at all. Have you been married fewer than 2 years? That may be the issue if there is any doubt at all in their minds. Are there any other red flags, like age difference, previous petitions, etc?

Thank you so much IcezMan_IcezLady. I will post a review. Thanks for your advice through this journey and I am wishing the best for you too.

I am still in this long and stressful journey! I am really looking for a realistic time line for the interivew. Do you know how long after NVC said the case was documentarily complete that your husband received the interview?
My husband's case, after being reaffirmed, was at NVC in early December 2016. They sent it to the embassy around 2 weeks later, at the end of December 2016. My husband just had his interview today, so you can see, it took 7 months from the time it was reaffirmed and had gone back through NVC to get the interview scheduled.

Lutz, congrats!
Also waiting to receive a mail from the USCIS. Case was received at USCIS on March 7th, 2017. How many more days do you think we can possibly receive a mail. And what do you think we need to do while awaiting
Thank you for the good wishes. My husband's case was denied in September 2015. It wasn't until around February 2016 that it even got to USCIS. From there, it was reaffirmed in December 2016. So there is a lot of waiting. Do you know the reason your case was denied? We did not even know the reason, the CO would not tell my husband. If you have a suspicion about the reason, I would start gathering evidence to refute it, so you will have that all ready when you receive your NOIR. If the waiting gets too long, you can get your congressperson involved, and also an ombudsman. You can schedule an infopass at your local USCIS office also. But you will have to wait the required 180 days for your file to get through USCIS. Good luck and let me know if I can help in any other way.

I want to thank all of you here on VJ for all the great advice and encouragement over these past few years. My husband's IR1 visa was approved today, thank God very much. Luckily, he was asked only a few basic questions. The officer had taken all of his evidence, looked it over, then called him to the window. There he was just asked if his case was a reaffirmed one, how many children he has and if his child will immigrate with him. That was it. The embassy personnel then gave him the long awaited blue slip of paper instructing him to pick up his visa in 2 weeks. It has been such a long and stressful journey and I wanted to share our success to give others hope.

Yes, as stated above. Be prepared for a long wait. Three months is nothing. It took my husband's case 13 months to get reaffirmed through USCIS, then another 4 months to even be logged into the embassy for a second interview.
-
I also waited the required time and then contacted an ombudsman. I also scheduled an info pass, and on the day of the scheduled info pass, my husband's case was reaffirmed. Definitely try the ombudsman. This link can get you started:

I too am older than my husband and Coke October will b 4 years we've been trying for our visa. Just reaffirmed in May - file sent in June - awaiting notice for interview. Where is ur wait?
I filed for him in September 2014. His first interview was in September 2015....it was denied. Now, throughout the process of being returned to USCIS, etc for reaffirmation, his upcoming interview is at the beginning of August 2017. So just about 3 years total.
-
I want to add to the comment about if your relationship is genuine, you won't have to worry. I am significantly older than my husband, I was 53 and he 27 when we married. Our relationship is genuine, and we submitted evidence of owning real estate and other things together and he was still denied. His case was reaffirmed, but this added 1.5 years to the process.
So please, even if your relationship is genuine with a large age difference, be prepared to be looked at with more scrutiny.
It's nice that one case with this sort of age difference got through with no problem, but I don't believe that's the norm.

My husband is going in for his second interview after being denied a CR1 visa. The affidavit of support fee ($125) was already paid for his first interiew. I know people here have said we will not have to pay another visa application fee, but what about this $125 Affidavit of Support fee. Does that have to be paid again? At the embassy?

How long did u wait to hear about ur interview once reaffirmed?
His case was reaffirmed in December 2016. The embassy didn't log it in until March 2017. From there I had to email the embassy to find out what was going on. They told my husband to come it and get his interview date. That was in May 2017 and his interview is scheduled for early August 2017. Hope this helps.

New medical (minus the shots) and police report. No Visa fees you have to pay again.
My husband just had his second medical done. He had shots as well.

Well that's good then. Making sure to address what issues there were with the interview is key. Again CR-1 to IR-1 doesn't have a lot of bearing I don't believe; but making sure to take care issues from the first time is most important. So as long as he goes in well prepared for the interview, should be fine; but have to just wait and see also.
Thank you.

Well I put up a foto album of over 250 pics and you wount believe the man never even opened it. He only flip over the one my wife sent and just return them to me. I sent chat of over 3000 pages. I was the one having the biggest tones of evidence there yet he never even read a page of the chat and gave all to me through the window bit by bit till I collected all. All the counselors as I see yesterday was issuing visas to everybody except for my case and another man who is adopting a child that they put on administrative processing. Every body with with fresh case was approved. Now the counselor officers there are very friendly and simply.I don't know why they put mine of AP but the man told me is not denial they just need to verify some things. Well our cases are different so don't base your case on mine. Just put up whatever you have because the one that interviewed me might not be the one that interview your husband. He might just be given the approval straight. Just stay positive.
OK, thanks for this information. I too am putting together all our correspondence for the years we've been together, and i will go ahead with the Photo album too, it can't hurt. From what I'm reading, at least things seem to be getting better over there at the embassy. I wish you all the best, and stay hopeful. They are probably just checking more things out, as they have to.

He just flip through and gave them back to me. They all concentrate on the paper of the petitioner and papers from the us is and the nvc.
OK, thanks. I'm spending a lot of time putting together a photo album, but I'm wondering now if I'm wasting my time.

I said yes.
But I'm confused. You said they didn't look at any documents. What did they look at? just photos?
-
Just now, bravagreen said:
Trust me this new counselor officers don't give hard time at all. They don't even look at the documents you submit again. They just ask 3 or 4 questions and they are basic and make their decision.
They didn't look at your photos or anything?

Why was the original visa denied? Whatever the main cause of that one can still come back up during another interview and cause same outcome regardless of CR-1 or IR-1.
We never found out the exact reason because my attorney filed a Request for Action (or something along those lines) where I submitted a LOT of extra information, based solely on what my husband told me went on in the interview - so I knew the issues that the CO harped on. All this information was submitted, an NOIR was never issued, and his file was reaffirmed. So we are going by what the CO harped on, and on the checklist for denial, nothing at all was checked.

My husband was denied his CR1 visa. It went through the channels and has been reaffirmed. His second interview is coming up next month in August.
My question is: He was denied while we were married under 2 years. We have now been married more than 3 years. Does anyone have experience in how this may affect the outcome of his interview and / or getting issued his visa?
Thank you.

Hello visajourney family. I went for my reaffirmed cr1 interview today and after asking me just 4 basic questions which are..
Who filed for you?
Does your wife have kids?
How many?
Have she been married before
Have you yourself been married before?
After this questions in just a minute he spent 50 minutes just typing on the computer. He finally gave me a check list and wrote on it that administrative processing and told me they need to verify some things on the file and they will contact me via fon call or email as to where to take my passport to and any other instructions that may follow. So I don't know how to call this, where sad or what? So basically that was all what transpired at my interview today. He gave me my passport back and said he can't keep it because he does not know how long it will take for them to finish the administrative processing. He only took copies of original documents I sent there.
Congratulations on at least having the second interview. I would stay positive on this. they probably need to check things, as they say.

Also BravaGreen, did you submit new evidence? did they look at it thoroughly?

Big congratulations!!! My husband's visa was ready even before the end of two weeks, so if you are in the area of the DHL, stop in and check after one week. You may get a pleasant surprise.
