  1. Nope but I'm going on Nov 21! I'm excited, scared and everything in between :luv:

Good Luck, Divina24 with your POE!!!!!!!

Just got my RFE papers. (Finally!)

They need the translation of my marriage certificate. That's it! I waited 7 months for that!

The translation will be back in their hands by Friday.

Wondering if I should add updated/additional evidence of relationship now or wait until NVC stage.

    March filers rock!

  2. Woo hoo Marie!!!! Finalllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy             :thumbs:  Here I thought that was a tornado siren (but it must have been you hollering happily!) :P

Just Greg is left for March posters in here.

I posted long, long ago, that I would be "able to turn off the lights on the March submission thread!"

Little did I know then how close to the truth it would be.

Just left a message with Ruth asking if she would know the particulars of my RFE as I am in China for another week. Would be nice to know if I need anything from China before I leave!

Congratulations Marie! There is hope for me too!

  3. Thanks for the info, you got a lot of touches...lol

Yeah I'm really nervous about the CR1...I'm hoping we can get it done in 8 months, but it seems like that's a hit or miss. Hopefully, the fact that I'm federal employee (background check done!) and that she has attended school in the US helps. Being a federal employee, I understand how backlog and last minute things work...sigh, I don't have my hopes high

Don't be nervous. Read as many posts as you can about what you need to submit and do the best you can. I, unfortunately, am in the middle of an RFE right now. Not sure why, still trying to get information since I am in China right now.

  4. Hi guys,

I am heading to China to marry in a month and I plan to apply for CR-1 for my fiance after the marriage.

I have a question to those experienced with marriage in a foreign country, especially China.

I need to have an Affidavit of Eligibility to Marry and a certified translation in Chinese. I was wondering if I can find a notary in the states to sign the affidavit and bring that to a Chinese Consulate in the states to get it officially translated so I can use that when I arrive in China.

    Thanks for the help!

You might have enough time to get it done in the US depending on how quick your SOS office moves.

    What I did:

    1. Filled out Affidavit of Eligibility to Marry and brought it to a local notary public.

    2. Then sent it to the apostille department for my SOS.

An apostille certifies the validity of a notary public, county clerk, circuit clerk or local registrar. This special certification is accepted by foreign countries as proof that specific documents are official.

    3. Brought it to (along with other paperwork I needed) to the Chinese Consulate in Chicago for authentication.

    4. Brought all of this with me to China. Since we were getting married in Chengdu, Sichuan, I went to the US Consulate there and brought my wife's ID card with me. They were great and made official copies of everything, did translations of the important documents, signed a cover letter, and bound it all together.

We didn't have any problems with the bound documents at the marriage registration office. Within an hour we had our red books and took the picture on our profile.

It seems like a lot of work but from start to finish, in the US, took about two weeks.

    Good Luck!

  5. Ya, ya - zoom zoom...

The only way to make it faster :D with EP -

is to have a lawyer on the case, with that G-28 filed with the I-130 petition -

    as then

the IV and AOS fee bills show up simultaneously.

and that's it. End of Tweakage Report .

IMO, that's the ONLY reason a lawyer is useful (but I hate lawyers, pay them my own coin to train them, always)

I feel for Greg, though - RFEs Suck, Much. It says so, right there on the label. I think he's still in Sichuan with his wife, this week, so that's always a good thing - prefer to wait on RFE with wife snoring gently beside him, you betcha.

It does suck to wait 6+ months and then have to call to find out. You are right Darnell, I am still with my wife in China ;)

I was told the RFE is in "Clerical" getting processed for sending it to me, so Ruth was not able to hunt it down and find out the reason(s). I will be back in the States next week then I will find out the specifics. I am prepared to send them a large amount of additional info. It might just be a clerical error on my part. Who knows?!?!?!

Thanks for all the support. I will keep everyone updated.

  6. a note to anyone calling into USCIS -

You should (IMO) ask for a Tier 2 Human, an ISO, when checking on case status.

See http://www.dhs.gov/xabout/structure/gc_1221837986181.shtm#5 for the differences between a Tier 1 Human and Tier 2 Human.

Just got off the phone with a Tier 2 Human™. They say they are working on my casefile but no additional details are available. "touched" two days in a row. Hopefully a good sign.

  7. (Time passer thought) - Ever wonder how many on here are fradulent? Thanks a whole lot guys for the 165 day processing time. All for money or so.

Don't like to think about the fact that there are some fraudulent apps. I have enough to worry about!!!

Four days of getting "touched" last week and then nothing. No new updates, no emails or texts (not that I ever got any emails or texts in the first place!) Called USCIS on Tuesday and was told they are working on March 29th apps. Maybe I am back on the pile.

I will be calling again soon. Maybe I should try this Ruth lady.
