No we did not, After The Interview with in one week If the visa application is approved, you must arrange for delivery of your passport with the visa, as well as your Immigrant Visa document packet, directly with the Bank of Abyssinia agent located at the Embassy entrance. Bank of Abyssinia will deliver the passport, visa, and immigrant visa packet to any branch of Bank of Abyssinia in Addis Ababa. Bank of Abyssinia collects a service fee of 50 Ethiopian birr per passport for this service. You may then pick up your passport and visa from your selected Bank of Abyssinia branch at your convenience.

I am expecting my wife interview to be in August 2012. Is is a good move to start her medical now? NVC case is complete as of July 3, 2012 and told to expect interview date August 2012. How long will the medical be good for prior to the interview. I don't know if I read somewhere that it is ok to start medical 1 month in advance.

You have to wait till you receive your interview letter from the US embassy. But your wife she can call the US embassy in Addis Ababa to find out about her case she can give them her ADD# from NVC they'll tell her what to do next.

I agree with both Inky and Noah here. Inky gave you an example of what could constitute a social tie, and Noah made the point that there are no specific bright line requirement. Different consulates have different requirements, and cases are decided on individually.

Basically, the more the better, and the better it all comes together, the better.

Anyone applying for a non-immigrant visa is always automatically presumed to be an intending immigrant, and it's up to the applicant to demonstrate sufficiently that they do intend to return.

Social ties would be immediate family. Leaving behind underage children or a spouse in the other country that she must return to.

He/she told me this

..."She did not demonstrate strong enough social and economic ties to qualify for issuance of a nonimmigrant visa."

You can ask branch of Bank of Abyssinia in Addis Ababa like if you go to Pazza. They'll help you with Packet 3 requirement.

K3 filing / interview may be done on a walk-in basis if the petitioner appears at the Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Consulate in person and pleads his/her case sufficiently. Otherwise, the Consulate will schedule the interview within 6-10 weeks of receiving the file from the NVC. Upon receiving packet 3, the applicant should complete all documents requested on the checklist and obtain both the medical and police certificate. Medical takes appr. 3 days total to complete. Police Certificate takes 2 weeks but can be expedited upon request The problem in terms of total processing time appears to be that the Consulate will take time to actually send out packet 3 (word is that this may take 1-2 months easily). If the USC petitioner is in Addis, the petitioner can pick-up packet 3 at the Consulate by showing the NVC letter. This speeds things up dramatically.

Usually the embassy don't: quick enough to call. I suggest personal experience your fiancé she can call the embassy and find out, or she can go in person at the embassy two requested her documented arrives in Addis Ababa

Hey everybody...

I just received an E-mail from Embassy four days ago, after I e-mailed them requesting interview date for my fiancee, informing me that my fiancee is scheduled for interview on February 14, 2011. They wrote 2011 as opposed to 2012? Do you think this was a typo? My fiancee didn't receive an appointment letter in the mail yet. She is anxiously waiting. Should I just wait a while for the letter to arrive or just ask them if they meant to say 2012?

secondly, my fiancee and I had interview on April 5, 2011 for the same fiancee visa and got denied. The interviewing consular didnt give her original birth certificate back to her. I kept sending them e-mail to check if they have it in her old file. But they haven't responded on that. Should she start the process of issueing another one or what? please give me any input and I so appreciate it.

Hello Congratulations on your interview date. Tell your fiancee to go to Embassy and to see the visa office to get her interview letter. she need to show her passport and her ADD######## they'll give to her. The embassy they'll not mail her but they'll call...

My expedite was at eariler levels on humanitarian reasons from USCIS my I-130 was approved in 49 days got my NOA1 and NOA2 than to NVC. National Visa Center (NVC) operator told me supervisor Sue, she is reviewing your file and NVC know my expedite approval for humanitarian reasons from USCIS. NVC supervisor Sue she E-mail US embassy in Addis A, Ethiopia to request expedite interview date was scheduled on August 31st, 2010, I called up the consulate office in Addis Ababa to request if they could move up the interview date. I spoke to the consulate officer and he told me he would call my wife if he found an earlier spot for my wife. After I hung up, I called my wife to tell her that she should expect a phone call from the consulate office. Within 3 hours she told me she got a phone call from the embassy, and that she was asked to come to the Embassy the next day in order to receive her new appointment paper for August 3rd expedite interview.
