  1. One of my friend recently applied for PCC at ahmedabad office, and he told me his experience:

They won't issue passport clearance certificate without looking at the missing document cheaklist OR interview letter itself. Even security person won't allow you inside without having either of these letters in hand. My sister-in-law at NVC stage recently went and experienced this. So we called NVC and inquired about this specific matter. NVC told that you should send DS-230 and all other supporting documents As soon as you pay IV fee's and when you get barcode cover sheet. They will then review all documents and then only they will generate missing document cheaklist.

And PCC at ahmedabad office doesn't take more than 2 weeks-3 weeks (including appilcation and getting in hand). So I am not worried for passport clearance certificate now as I know the process. Only thing is I want to send out DS-230 and police clearance certificate and other supporting documents to my spouse before time.

Yep, NVC operator told me the same. Seems like such a waste of time!

Wish ahemdadbad wouldnt be so strict on the police clearance. Its almost as if their rules are saying you need to fail the visa process before we issue you the papers that you need. Oye!

  2. So im reading NVC shortcut and i am confused on one part.

When your case has been manually input, the DS-3032 and AOS (Affidavit of Support) fee bills will be generated.

Also, when the AOS fee bill is generated, your IIN (Invoice Identification Number) is created.

Note - it may be possible that your IIN is created when your NVC number is created...THIS is the time to begin the quest for the IIN, but when requesting, ask for Invoice ID Number, not "IIN".

Now should i call in a couple of days and request for the Invoice ID Number or just wait till they email me the AOS fee bill?

Your IIN will be on the last page of the pdf file attached to the email NVC will send you. You do not need to obtain it from the operator. This is the email that gives you directions to pay online when your AOS Fee Bill is generated. At this time, this email arrives in one business day (in some cases same day) after you have given the NVC operator you and your spouse's e-mail addresses.

    :bonk:

  3. I just called the NVC. I went through the phone AVR and after entering my WAC # it said I was not in the system. Okay I guess thats right because I was only approved on the 14th. So my question is, can I count on the AVR and just keep checking it for a case number. Then after 2 weeks of waiting speak to an operator. I see in LingChe's Shortcut is said it could be scanned but not in the system. SO when do I opt to speak to an operator? I dont want to waste their or my time unless there is some hope of getting what I need. I figure I am a bit early expecting a Case Number so soon.

    Tom,

I just talked to an operator and they gave me my case number. Yours might be ready too if you talk with them.

  4. Hi,

What I would do is try and get a hold of some of the more older VJ members from Gujarat who might still have their checklist in their inboxes. Or anyone who got a RFE for PCCs, actually. See if they will let you use it (obviously without the barcode part) -- I know a few people from Gujarat and Hyderabad (the two places that cause the most trouble) who did this -- sharing the checklist to get their PCCs quickly.

Hmm. Anyone willing to help me out with this?

  5. Jesal and Rvince - Time to get going with the reading if you haven't already. Make sure you guys share everything with us :)

Jesal - I hope you are looking into purchasing that ticket to india for ur september trip :D Anyway, let me know about the PCC issue for the GREAT amd.

    Thanks.

Not sure what i will do. I dont plan to go to India until NVC is done of course.

From the looks of it NVC is slow too, im hoping to be done with it by early september with a mid to late October interview date. But that might be wishful thinking. :help:
