  1. I just received a notification text and email today, my case is in line for interview. Please update.

"On August 5, 2013, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview. If you have not received the notice within 90 days of the date above, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address."

    Yay!!!

Mine is still on "Initial Review" =/

  2. I sent in N400 application June 8,2013 received at the AZ Lockbox June 10 which is also my PD. Biometrics completed July 3. Currently placed under "Initial Review". Still waiting for Testing and Interview letter. DO is Chicago. Anybody in the same boat?

  3. Poline, we are going to DR about a week after my interview in Philly... Oath will be in Delaware so Im assuming it'll be after we return... Im saying this to say that although ppl don't like it, you can still travel between Interview and Oath (granted they'd hurry up and send you the darn Interview letter so you'd know your dates)

Come on USCIS, ppl are a-waiting on you to go on vacay ClockWatch2.gif

Since I am not a resident for 3 years yet, I feel that they will schedule my interview after September, which is totally fine, but I wish I knew the dates...

    Enjoy your trip! :)

  4. Have you already purchased your ticket? I had travel plans to Mexico I had to postpone as well. It's a little annoying to me since my case is very straight forward, but I get it. It just feels like it's moving at a snails pace right now.

My husband works for Delta Airlines, so we fly standby (free tickets). September is a good time to fly, the flights are not as packed. Since I don't know when my interview is going to be, I don't want to leave the US and then get stuck in Brazil because the flights are full. It's a huge risk :(

  5. I think it's unlikely you'd become a citizen in September because you have to be a LPR for at least 3 years before they even schedule you for an interview. I think the same thing applies for 5 year residents, too. The waiting sucks but eventually we'll all get there.

    Yeah...

I had plans to travel to Brazil in August/September... if I knew when my interview would be, I would travel carefree. But oh well, as you said, eventually we will get there :)

  6. For some their status didn't change until a month after their biometrics, so no worries. I will add your additional info to the timeline now, thanks.

I was hoping to become a citizen before September, I guess I will have to wait more than I expected :P

    Thanks

    Adding poline additional info.

Missing my priority date: june 19

  7. Updating mae232 bio date, on my merry way in line date, and adding poline to the timeline. Poline, the priority date is on the notice of action. It's the order in which they process your application. When did you send your application?

    Oh, thank you :)

Here it says: priority date, June 19, 2013.

    More info to be added:

    Eligible: 06/10/2013

    Sent: 06/18/2013

    Check Cashed: 06/20/2013

Still no updates after my fingerprints were taken...

  8. Essentially, yes. But even if you had already met the requirements for the 3 year rule, based on the current processing times you likely would still not become a USC until after sometime after Sept 2013,

    Thank you.

Maybe that's the reason they haven't updated my case yet after the fingerprints.

  9. I think this is due to the fact they can only schedule for interview for those truely pass their 3 years LPR. If you were to apply in March, you would probably wait like the rest of us who applied 90 days before the 3 years.

    So if I became a resident in September/2010, I won't become a citizen until after September/2013? :(

  10. Hi guys,

USCIS received my forms on June 21st, on the 28th they updated my case: "On June 28, 2013, we mailed you an appointment notice to have your fingerprints taken."

Biometrics done on July 15th. So far no updates on their website. Still "Initial Review" sad.png

    My field office is Buffalo-NY.

    BTW what is "priority date"?

    Thx

  11. Looking at the forms and attachments on USCIS's site, it appears to me that you should be fine. They mention that one isn't eligible for citizenship if they travel elsewhere for more than 6 months at a time and/or spend a total of 18 months (out of the last 3 years) in another country and not be able to prove they still had ties to the US.

Since no one of your trips lasted more than 6 months, you're good on that part. And currently, you haven't spent more than 18 months outside the US. Just be careful with any upcoming trips outside the country as that will bring your total up, nearing 18 months.

    Thanks! :)

  12. Hello Folks :)

    Quick question...

According to the "USCIS Early Filing Calculator", I can apply for my citizenship on 06/10/2013. (Citizenship through marriage).

I have a friend who works with Immigration, and she said my citizenship can be denied because I travel a lot (??). I got my Green Card in Sep/2010, and none of my trips were over 6 months. Since I do not trust my "expert" friend, I am asking you guys <3 :)

Above you can check all my trips until now:

    09/09/2010 - 02/15/2011 159 days outside the USA

    05/15/2011 - 07/03/2011 49 days outside the USA

    02/11/2012 - 04/07/2012 56 days outside the USA

    08/08/2012 - 10/14/2012 68 days outside the USA

Total of 332 outside the USA (I hope my math isn't that terrible lol)

Do you guys think is it OK to apply in June/2013?

    Thanks!

  13. We ended up receiving an RFE and I just wanted to clarify what I needed to send. The RFE just says to submit evidence of the joint sponsor's status (as a US citizen or otherwise). Do I just need to send in a certified copy of the birth certificate of my joint sponsor? It must have been something on the form I overlooked (how is that possible?!)

If anyone could clarify this it would help greatly!

    Thank you!

For my RFE, I just sent a normal copy of my joint sponsor birth certificate

  14. When I apply for AP together with my AOS, do I need to specify exactly where and when I want to travel abroad?

At the moment I have no plans to travel anywhere, but I could always want/need to go back home.

Do I need to specify exactly my future travels or can I use the AP document for whatever international travels I decide to take?

In this case, what should I indicate as date and destination of intended travel, as well as purpose of travel?

    Mine was like this:

    1- Date of intended departure

    (to be determined)

    2- Expect length of trip

    (to be determined)

I had no problem with that, so I think you don't need to specify a date.

  15. Ok so I'm still putting our packet together lol

But I have a question about the co-sponsor stuff that needs to be included. She included the last 3 years tax returns, but they are like 10 pages each. They have a summary page on the front from Turbo Tax, and then the rest of the pages. Which should I include in the packet? I doubt they want/need 30 pages of tax return info lol. If they do, I will send it, but if I can send less, that'd be great!

Also, is the signed I-864 and tax returns all I need from her to send in? Or do I need anything else from her?

    Thanks :)

The best thing to do is call the IRS and ask for the Tax Transcripts.

Recently I got a RFE asking for the Tax stuff again. The first time I sent them only the Turbo Tax papers, and it didn't work. The second time I sent only the Tax Transcripts, and everything went fine.

Avoid a RFE by sending only the Tax Transcripts. :)

  16. well, I believe if the marriage is true, no need to worry.

Once I came to the USA, alone, with my tourist visa, after getting married, many people were telling me that was risky, the POE Officer wouldn't let me enter the country. As I said before, I had no intention to immigrate, and I believe that when you say the truth and is not doing anything wrong, you don't need to worry. The Officer asked me what were my intentions, I said that I was going to see my husband, he didn't say anything else, stamped my passport and that was it.

When we have our interview, I will ask the Officer to stamp my passport, and also ask him about take a trip without the Green Card in hands.

    GLuck for us! :)

  17. Thanks for all responses :)

I got married in 2007, never had any intention to live in the USA. I entered the country many time with my tourist visa, never had any problem. In the beginning of this year we decided to spend 6 months in the US. We were living in Brazil since 2008, and had our daughter last year. So, I never lied to any Officer about my intention to immigrate. My husband got a nice job opportunity, and we decided to stay here for a while, that is why we applied for the GC. Again, at first we had no intention to live here.

We applied for the AOS in June, and my I-94 expired on August, so I didn't overstay.

  18. Hey guys!

Is it "illegal" to apply for the Green Card (through marriage) while on a Tourist Visa?

My interview is sep 8th and I would like to travel sep 26th. I already got the AP, but some people are telling me to wait till I have the Green Card in hands, because I could have some problems when I return to the USA, once I applied for the AOS on a tourist visa, which they said it is "illegal". Is that true? Should I wait till I get the GC?

    Thanks!
