  1. Happy 4th of July Everyone!

I am the petitioner and currently have an interview in a few weeks. My address has changed. My questions are:

1 - For my husbands (beneficiary) DS-230 do I have to update the questions that reference the address or can I leave it as is?

2 - Can I submit the change of address once he has received his green card?

Although I have moved, I have not changed my address officially. I was hesitant to do so because I did not want any important documents to get lost in transit. I still have access to my old address, so getting it is not a problem.

  2. Thank you jolusa, we will see what we can do because getting it here in the DR means that she would have to travel to here just for that.

There is no need for multiple trips. Just go to the local lawyer about a few days before the wedding. Its available in a day. Its just a simple letter stating that she is single and able to marry.

  3. we are planning for a I-130, thats why we want to get married, im from dominican republic and here they ask for an affidavit of singleness of the american citizen.

    Hey Juan,

I got married in Dominican Republic also. I got my "Carta de Solteria" through a local lawyer in the Dominican Republic. I found it was easier to get it there, then here, in the states. I also suggest you speak directly with the person who will marry you and find out exactly what they require, because some want that paper, others don't.

  4. My husband called to book a medical Appointment this am and they told him he's calling too soon (what the hell!!!!) couldn't they just give him a date so he can get time off in advance, That's Trinidad for you. I really dont understand that place everything is like pulling teeth with them. If he calls back in 2 week and they tell him they have no date i will book a ticket and go to that office and cause fireworks...... Ok i wont but it will be my intention. Calming down in 3,2,1....... So hows every one doing today?

    You are too funny Sugarz...

    That's the caribbean...always on slow mode...LOL

  5. Hi, is there anyone else stuck and still waiting for DS-3032 acceptance email? We sent the email on May 30 and we are still waiting for the confirmation. We followed the emailing instructions here exactly, I'm not sure what went wrong. What should we do?

Hey...this happened to me too...it felt like forever! What I did was, email it (several times) and also sent it via snail mail. Am no expert, but I'd say give it til the end of the week and see if you get an acceptance. If not, start calling them and speak with a supervisor. I had to speak with one before it finally was accepted. Not sure if this helps any, but that's how my situation went. Good luck and I hope its accepted soon!

  6. Perfect excuse to upgrade. So concentrating on Bringing him that i forgot to think of all the double things id need, double closet space, double dresser, double health insurance, double car insurance, another car etc ohhh ohhh what did i get myself into here

Yeah girl! Tell me about it, but @ least those things can be worked on together!

I do anything for the hubby...except share the walk in closet... He gonna have to use the one in d otha' bedroom!

  7. Good morning! Congratulations to everyone and their progress.

So...since case complete I have not called NVC or DOS for an interview date and was not planning to either until the end of the week...but decided, what the heck?

I called DOS first and to my surprise, she said "your husband is scheduled for an interview on July 23rd @ 8:30 am".

I asked her if she knew when it was assigned, but she said she didn't know. I was just curious because I been checking my email like a million times a day since case complete and nothing...

Still, relieved to finally have a date and looking forward to the end of this visa process (although we'll still have to do ROC, but @ least we'll have a break, LOL.)

  8. Jo, our plan was to keep the interview a secret too. I told a couple people in my family and he told his mom and all of a sudden everywhere knew.:angry:

Even after we told the people to not tell anybody. It was hard to keep it a secret from people like his mom and my aunts, so we trusted them and told them. Good thing everything went well at the cita and after or else we would have had to tell EVERYONE we were denied.

Stephanie, I love his mom, she's a sweet lady...but I know the minute she finds out...ITS A WRAP...might as well call it a press conference! LOL!

Thankfully it all worked out for you!

  9. Thanks Martha&Alex. Yeah, that sounds like an idea.

I wish it wasn't that way, but once his family knows, they start talking with the neighbors, who start talking to random people "ohh tu sabe que le llego la cita a fulano" and so on. Then we have crazy old dudes calling on the phone trying to scam money!

Luckily, VJ has us very well informed!

  10. I agree Stephanie, that's why his family has no idea where in the process we are! LOL I am trying to figure out how we can have him do his medical and even go to the interview without them knowing...but I know its going to be tough! LOL

Thanks for the heads up Martha&Alex...I will advise the hubby just in case...
