  1. I do have concerns...while speaking to the lady at the DOS, today...she asked me for:

    the case #

    husbands name

    the petitioners name

She explained to me the petitioners name was not the name I gave her; mine. I was dumbfounded. Somehow my sisters name; the sponsor is now listed as the petitioner??????

I am unsure why the change and how it was changed...the I-130 clearly has my name as well as the supporting documents, listed as the petitioner, in which I accompanied my husband in Ottawa.

The only place I see my sisters name listed in the forms of what has already been sent in, is on the DS-230 Line item 10. I have not sent in the I-864 as it was not requested, which would will have my sisters information.

Any thoughts on if I should intervene in this, which could delay the appointment scheduling or should we wait until we are in Montreal to bring it to their attention?

Please feel free to chime in.

  2. ^^^^^ Thanks for the replies, guys. :) Yeah, the DCFer seems to be a rare breed around here. Edmontongirl was lucky, she was done in 4 months, start-to-finish!

Ah, I see - I guess everyone's support info is brand new to the consular staff, as it would have been NVC who received all the paperwork. I was just wondering, because all they've received from us so far is the I-130 and the DS-230. (I'm still a little <_< that it took them 4 weeks for just the DS-230 to be logged in)

My fingers are still crossed to hear something date-wise this week. ;)

I just phoned DOS...nothing to report for us...the appointment has not been scheduled (yet)...tick tock, tick tock

  3. Thank you both for your responses and direction. I have a few more questions: since we live near the Canadian and US border, if I should decide to get a job on the US side and a room mate through kijiji (location of the US side), would this subside for domicile. However, please note the items listed above bank statements, mail, etc., are based on Texas (would that reflect negatively)...and can the job I obtain be a job that is not in my area of expertise...like a service industry job?

  4. Please pass this onto Everyone you Know:

200,000 gallons a day are currently leaking into the Gulf Coast and more than 400 wildlife species are at risk.

As the oil spill gets to the shore, Coastal Louisiana wetlands are at grave risk.

Last year, activists like you urged President Obama to adopt important new policies to protect Louisiana's endangered wetlands.

Now it is urgent that President Obama take immediate action to support coastal Louisiana wetlands.

  5. I would like to get a few thoughts and/or suggestion on what we are contemplating.

Since my recent visit home, thoughts have crept in my mind about moving home as, I could very easily get a job, not a career job so quickly but hoping, but something to get us started with our future...a place to live, a job etc.

Present evidence proving domicile while in Canada and severing ties:

In the US, I have maintained for 10+ years:

a bank account; checking and savings,

    a registered car

    vehicle insurance

    401K plan

    Drivers License; renewed last year

    stocks

    credit cards

proof of address; delivery of mail,

a lease agreement between my sister and us

a tentative letter to our present property manager on why we chose to go month to month vs. signing a new lease

statement to my present employer as to my intentions on giving notice upon Visa Application approval

    UPack quote

    shot records for the cat

quote to transport cat by air

Should I choose to remain in Canada and from what I have listed are your thoughts that there is 'enough' evidence on proving domicile?

    or

I could return to the US and secure a job and a place to live and still have the above evidence to offer as evidence and would return for the interview with my husband, as it shouldn't be too far off.

Presently, we are awaiting on the interview letter, which also has us on a stand still for the medical exam.

I'm just trying to reason the more secure way, though I know nothing is 100%, but which is more concrete? I have only held my PR in Canada for 6 months; that's minus 6 months my entire life born and raised in the US.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts, experiences and opinions.

    Lily

  6. Hi Everyone,

The 864 is kicking my butt...need your brains, as I have been at this too long today. :bonk:

Upon moving to the US, we will be residing in my sisters home. Is my sister required to fill out the 1-864 as a sponsor, as well as 1-864a? She is the only 1 in her household and we are using her income for sponsorship.

Part 1 Basis for Filing Affidavit of Support: On my 1-864, I have checked line item A. For my sister's 1-864 she has checked Part 1 Line item D. Is this correct? E is throwing me off.

Part 5 Sponsors Household Size: Though we have both listed my husband on our individual 1-864's Part 2. In Part 5 My sister included my husband on her 1-864, but on my 1-864 part 5 I did not count my husband. Therefore, on mine my figures do not reflect actual, but I do understand he cannot be duplicated.

Part 6 Sponsors Income and Employment:

Line item 22. I am working in Canada, but the employment will NOT continue in the USA. I have listed my Canadian Employer but unsure if I should list my current individual income as like I said, this will not contimue in the US.

Part 6 Line Item 24 B on my 1-864, I listed my sister (the sponsor)...do I leave D and E blank as neither applies to her.

Thank you so much for your help!

  7. We just received our letter from MTL requesting our DS-230 Part 1 form...

My questions is this: Who fills out part 1 and who fills out part 2?

When we filed our I-130 form in Calgary the lady that helped us told us that my husband (US citizen) would fill out part one and I (immigrant) would fill out part 2 to bring to my interview once it is set... But upon filling out the form online I noticed that the form automatically copies the info from part one into part two... Does this mean that I must fill out both parts? Or do we each need to fill out a form?

Any help offered would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!!

    Kim

Congrats! Sign the DS-230 Part 1 in Blue to ensure there is no misunderstanding you are submitting a copy vs. original. Good Luck!

  9. Hey Canadian DCFers,

I have posts floating around regarding my DCF via Toronto consulate, but in a nutshell:

    Jan 26: Sent I-130

Feb 26: Appointment at T.O. consulate

Mar 25: Montreal letter says petition is approved, fill out DS-230 and checklist

    Mar 26: Sent back DS-230

(As of) Apr 23: DS-230 still not logged by Montreal

Would love to get a June interview date, but highly unlikely. <_<
