  1. I only just received my NOA1, but am leaving for a 2 month trip to visit my fiance in a few days. I thought I would bring everything he would need from me via the I-134, including statements from my bank and employer. Seeing as we probably won't get our NAO2 until August/September and all my documents are dated June, should I get the same documents redone closer to our NOA2 date?

If you are not going to attend the interview, then take the documents to her when you go visit (like u already have planned). But if you are going to the interview get the dates as close to the interview date as possible.

  2. What is the exact date of the interview? Make at least within 30 days of it. I suggest even closer if possible. I had got my letters, pay records, etc done right after being notified that the NVC shipped our case to the foreign embassy before I knew the interview date. Once I received the interview date got all the documents again. They were dated no more than 1 week before the interview. Since I had to be at the interview got everything done before flying to my fiancées country.

If you are not attending the interview, get everything done as close as possible (estimate how long it will take to mail everything).

  3. I sent the 129f May 1st and recived the NOA 1 May 7. It has been a month and a half and I have not received any update notifications. When I look at the UCIS Case Status Web site it still says "Last Updated May 6".

    1. What exactly does "Touch" mean and how will I be notified that my case is being updated?

    2. If I have not heard or seen any updates or "Touch" in over a month and half should I be concerned and what can I do about it?

I am a little concerned because most of the timelines I look at have at least one "touch" within the first month.

    Thank you for your help.

    Jim & Sunny

My case was never "registered as being touched" and it was approved. Sometimes cases are just approved without any recognition of a being "touched". And some cases are touched a various number of times. It varies; I guess it depends if the USCIS officer "actually" scans your documents or not.

  4. I calle the NVC and the automated machine told me my case was completed on June 11 2010. I want to know how long till I receive and appointmeent Date? Do

Congrats! Just keep calling the number. Also call the Visa Specialist (Department of State)in Washington D.C. I called and they told me when my case arrived in Santo Domingo and the date of the interview.

The number is 202-663-1225. I forgot what buttons to push to talk to a "real" person. Let me know if this works.

  5. I HAVE SOME CONCERNS I RECEIVED MY NA01 AND I AM WONDERING BOUT MY LETTER OF INTENT.

I HAD NO I DEA HOWC TO WRITE IT SO MY FIANCE AND I WROTE IT HAS LIKE AN EXPLAINATION OF OUR STORY AND MENTIONED DAT WE ARE MAKING PLANS TO GET MARRIED AND BUILD A FAMILY SOON..

IF THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS WOULD THEY HAVE EVEN SENT ME AN NAO1 IN THE MAIL BECAUSE I DID NOT USE THE

THE STANDARD WAY OF WRITTING THE LETTER OF INTENT.. :bonk: .. COULD THIS BE A PROBLEM ??

AND AS FOR THE AFFIDAVIT QUESTIONS .. CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG WHEN THEY SEND THE NAO2 I SHOULD RECEIVE SOMETHING STATING IF I NEED TO DO AN AFFIDAVIT SUPPORT FOR MY FIANCE

AND ALSO THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW IF I NEED A LETTER FROM MY JOB OR BANK TO MAKE SURE I HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT AND THINGS OF DIS NATURE..

MY SISTER DID THE SAME PROCESS FOR HER FIANCE BUT IT WAS LIKE 10 YRS AGO AND SHE MENTIONED ALOT MAY HAVE CHANGED TRY TO SEE IF THIS IS CORRECT.

CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS! :help:

An example of the Letter of Intent form is here

I also attached a copy to this response.

After you received the NOA1 there isn't much you have to do but spend time building a stronger relationship with your partner. Once your NOA2 arrives, you need to complete the affidavit and get a letter from your current employer (stating you have a job with them and you make $$$ a year), also you need a letter from your bank (stating how much money you deposited in the past year), and also your 3 months of recent pay stubs and 3 years of tax returns.

Their are 2 affidavits (I-134 and I-864). The I-134 is very easy to complete and is usually needed for the K1 interview. The I-864 takes longer to complete and more evidence and its usually only needed for AOS but sometimes asked for during the K1 interview.

To be safe just do them both and prepare. When your fiance(e) gets her Interview Packet, it will tell you what form you need to bring. For now I would just complete them both and wait until 2 weeks before the interview date to get a letters from your employer and bank.

I had everything done 2 months before the interview but had to get new letters (dates closer to the interview). If you have any questions I'll help, I just finished the process. I wish you the best on your journey.

  6. Here's my experience:

We arrived at the U.S. Embassy at 5:25am. We stayed at Jardines Del Teatro (wonderful place and great hospitality) which is 1 block from the Embassy. As soon as got near the Embassy, buscones were calling to us asking us if we needed anything (we were well-prepared and its best to ignore them because many are scammers). There was several dozen people in line. We found our correct line to get in for residency visas. We got inside at 6:05am and went through security and sat down to wait for my fiancee's name to called. We got called to Window #16 and 7:50am and we turned her Visa documents. The CO (who was very serious, very professional but personable older man) asked her a few questions about our relationship and for her documents.

    -Have you ever been married?

    -Do you have any children?

-Does your US fiance have any children?

    -Do you have children together?

He asked my fiancee these questions while I went to pay the rest of the Visa fee ($219 taxes included) and I returned to the window. He asked us more questions and told us to be prepared for \"any type of question\" because sometimes they can ask tough questions. He joked with us about Philadelphia and eating cheesesteaks and wished us the best and gave us ticket #833.

At 8:40 she was called to have her fingerprints done and we continued to wait until we were called for our interview. While waiting we ate something and got tired because of the heat. We were finally called at 11am to window 22. There was a young (maybe 30\'s) American guy who was very friendly and easy to talk to. He swore us both in and he asked us several questions.

    -How did we met?

    -When did you met?

-So you already have a travel?

-So you have been to USA to visit? (to fiancee)

    -What dates?

-Have been to any other countries?

-Have you been in any trouble here or in the USA? (to fiancee)

-What are your plans for the wedding?

-Were you in Philly or Washington DC during the snowstorm?

-What place has the best cheesesteaks?

Then he said there is no problem in your paperwork, then my fiancee signed one of the Visa forms (DS-156k). WE WERE APPROVED

and she would get her visa in 1 week. The interview was no longer than 5 minutes. We paid the DOMEX fee ($16) and left.

Note: They never asked me for any of my financial forms (I had both my I-134 and I-184 completed with employment letters, paystubs, recent tax forms, etc).

-We had tons of evidence that was never asked for (50 photos, calling cards, travel documents, phone records, internet messaging records, receipts, etc)well kept in a plastic seal-able organized folder.

But it's best to be prepared because they look for organization and how well you interact with your partner (who must be there).

-There are cameras there (and I think they watch how you couples interact with each other) so be aware of that.

-Despite the many fans and water fountains, it gets hot in there and a bit uncomfortable. There is a cafeteria where you can buy food and drinks which is good.

-Dress appropriately...Suits for a K1 Visa are probably not necessary and you will be hot. I seen people who were very formal but I don't think its necessary. Business-casual is fine.

    Congratulations!

  7. Congrats,

The RD is a tough place to get an approval...I should know because I have a Dominican Cedula and lived there for most of 2007 as I have a home there...You were very lucky..Best of Luck to you in the future I wish you and your fiancee the best..

Yes...from what I read on here and another site, Dominican citizens have a tough time getting visas (especially K1 visas). My fiancée and I prepared ourselves and we had faith. Nothing comes easy...but we were always positive and our relationship is real so we didn't worry too much.

  8. Is it because she is Latin American Vs. European? what if we just wanted to take a cruise out of Miami?

Its the law. All foreign nationals need a VISA to enter the US for a "specific reason". Unless their country is listed under the VISA WAIVER PROGRAM. I believe Colombia is not listed as WVP country so they will need some sort of visa to visit such as a Tourist/Visitor Visa called a

    B-1/B-2.

  9. Thanks a lot.i will be reading this. i noticed your K-1 is for Dominican republic, how long have take for you?

6 months for my fiancee to get her visa. Check my timeline to see the exact dates. I wish you the best. Just follow all the steps and ask questions when you are not sure about something.

  10. Hi everyone, My name is Desi, just started my process to get a K-1 Visa.

I'm from Dominican Republic,USCIS received our I-129f on May 21 and we got our NOA1

on May 28. Joined to find some support and help :help:,

my fiance David (L) is in the Miltary so IDK if that makes any difference,

please let me know if it does.

Also my mom and sister are waiting for their own visa, requested by my grandma

I'll be asking about this too.

Looking forward to getting to know you all. :)

    The guides are here

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1tips

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

This should answer most of your questions. If you have any more questions member of this board are very helpful.

  11. Ok first. You need to read the guide

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1tips

When you begin to file, you need to get the forms that are needed to Petition for your fiance(e). Follow the steps from the guide. Once you mail your packet of document you will receive a letter from USCIS informing you that you the received your application to marry your non-US. Citizen partner.

The first form you need is I-129f and G-325a (they will need to original for you and fiance(e) and copies). These are the only forms you need if you just starting the process. The other forms are for a later date (months away). You will need to send other things as well, like evidence, letters, photos etc proving your relationship. Just follow the guide I sent you for the K1. If you have any questions. I will happy to help you...this forum has helped me and many others like you get through this process. So don't worry about getting a lawyer (unless you need one for a specific reason).

  12. Hi I just want to share the good news. I just had my interview June 3 and my fiance and I are so happy that we made it! Just waiting for the visa to be delivered hopefully within the coming week. The long wait is finally coming to an end. It is definitely worth the wait. For those still waiting for their approval, I am so sorry to hear that and VSC should really do something about it. I really do hope things will fall into place for all of us.

Congrats! I'm leaving tomorrow for my fiancées interview.
