  1. Good evening!

Assuming my I-129F application is approved and sent to the DR, when I get my interview do I have some say in when it will be scheduled? As a teacher, summer would be the ideal time for our interview. Do they just call and assign or will I be able to choose one that works for us? I would be glad to hear your experiences.

    Thanks,

    Daisy.Chain

All the advice you received /is correct. You can just hope your interview is during Winter Break or so. I am a teacher too, the good thing my wife's interview was in June towards the end of school year, and getting off wasn't as big as an issue.

Read the NOA2 Wiki Page to prepare for your interview.

  2. I'm confuse do we have to pay 265 at nvc plus 160 at Banco Popular + 105 at the Embassy or the 265 are split up between the 160+105???

    There's a fee at nvc?

And a fee at the embassy???

You just need to pay the $160us fee at any Banco Popular. Take your Visa Appointment Letter (inside Packet 4) and get your receipt after paying to take to your interview.

Pay the $105us fee at the Consulate on the day of your interview.

    Read the NOA2 wiki page

Congrats!!! My petition also approved yesterday! Good Luck to you and yours, maybe we get the same "Cita" date???? We're both filing in DR.. Anyway, Good Luck in the next phase!

Congrats! Make sure you read the NOA2 Wiki Page to prepare for your interview.

  4. we all know there is a fee for summiting your fiancée petition to the uscis plus this

    others expenses

    - Medical Exam = $180 USD

    - Vaccines = $109 USD (optional, but highly recommended) Prices vary based on age.

    - Banco Popular Visa Application Fee = $156 USD ($140 + $16 service fee) – 2 separate payments, 2 separate receipts

    - Visa Fee paid day of interview at Consulate = $210 USD

    - DOMEX Courier Service to approved Visa = $ 9.50 – 16.00 USD

but I had never read about this NVC 240 $ fee before !!

is this fee paid before they sent the case to the embassy or after you enter usa ?

can anyone help me clear this confusion ?

    *Expenses: (as of August 2014)

    - Medical Exam = $180 USD

    - Vaccines = $110 USD (optional, but highly recommended) Prices vary based on age/season of the year.

    - Banco Popular Visa Application Fee = $160 USD -take receipt to interview (there is no longer a seperate $15 service fee)

    - Visa Fee paid day of interview at Consulate = $80 USD

    - DOMEX Courier Service to approved Visa = $ 9.50 – 11.00 USD (depending on delivery location) or ask to pick up from Consulate or Santiago.

    - Travel & Hotel Expenses = Varies

-New Immigrant fee ($165) is only for Marriage Visas (CR1/IR1) not K1.

  5. I would like to thank you all for getting back to me. the one question i would like to ask is when will my wife get her packet from the Embassy? this is my first time going threw the CR-1. i have done the K1 before and did not have to attend the interview. I know we don't have our interview until next month, but would like to know when my wife should be looking for the Packet 4 to reach her??

It varies in time. Once you receive the NOA2 it usually arrives within 2-3 weeks. But some people never receive because of the mail system. Have her check the local post every week.

  6. Came back on Wed from trip number 19 and hoped to see the updated interview list with our date possibly already assigned. Checked Thursday...still nothing. Today I called the NVC and State dept w no luck. So I called the embassy and spent 7 of the best USD I have ever spent. They told me we have a,date!!!! It's on Sept 18!!!! Omg omg omg omg I was so incredibly happy and I'm only more so tonight. My fiance is totally happy that soon soon soon we can be together.

My only concern is it's in four weeks. the medical should be done in 3weeks before. We still don't have the appointment letter. Nothing in hard copy nothing via email. How long does it take to receive in DR? (Either hard copy or email or both??) Is this 2 page document the packet 4?????

Congrats! Keep emailing them. You can also call and have to email you a duplicate copy of the Packet 4. You would just need to fax a copy to your Fiance so she can take it to the medical appointment.

Another option would be to call the Consulate and have her pick up a duplicate Packet 4, then get her medical exam the same day.

  7. Good Morning to all. Today was not what i was looking for on a Saturday. I woke up this morning around 6am to get ready for work and said let me look at my email. And was surprise to see that we was set up for a interview for next month. Our interview is set for September 25 2014 and our case was done on August t 13 2014. I was so happy that i call my wife at her work this morning to tell her the good news. She started crying over the phone and kept asking me was i sure. then she saw her email on her phone and call me back telling me" Baby we have to do this and do that!!!" I can't believe this happen so fast as i was looking for us to go in Oct or November. God is good! But now i have to get my passport renew as it expired last month. I just want to thank all who posted and help me just keep my head up. Everyday i would just come home and look at other people post just to see what was going on Here. If there is anything anyone want to share with us on what we will need for our Interview In the DR would be nice. thank you al

    Congrats!

  8. Just so im clear, im paying 350 for her medical AND vaccines? If thats the case ill definitely do it in DR.

Yeah it wouldn't be any more than that.

    Medical is $180

Vaccines start at $110 (prices vary by age and time of yr).

  9. this was very nice to see, but i would like to know is this also for people doing the IR-1/CR Visa too. i'm wait also for my case to be completed too. NVC told me that i should be hearing something soon as they have had all my papers since June 18 of this year. I would like to know when is the list for September coming out? thank you for the information. or where can i find it?

The list is for ALL visa-types (including IR1/CR1).

  10. I was just on the embassy site for DR and noticed there is a change in the way medical results will be delivered:

"The medical results, starting in June 1st, will be given to the visa applicant as soon as the results are ready, however, if there is any problem with your medical condition the results will be sent directly to the Consular Section."

Thx for this information. I will update the NOA2 wiki page.

  11. Hello everyone,

I'm still waiting for approval for my wife 10 year G.C. and I have a question. I know that you can still travel with your expired G.C. and the original extension letter. My question is has anyone traveled specifically to D.R. with the extension letter and make it back without any problems leaving D.R. Specifically Santiago. My wife is there now and she has the letter and her expired G.C. and I would like to know if anyone had any issues with them not understanding the letter or even knowing what it is since they seem to only speak Spanish and the letter is in English. Thanks

    Matt

Yea, my wife did a couple of years ago. We had no issues. She showed her 2yr Green Card and extension letter when boarding and returning through u.s. customs.

  12. Hello to all ,

I've been a bit lost but all is well. My fiancé entered U.S less then a month after the interview. He was only asked 1 question and was out of the airport rather quickly thank God.

We got married June 13th... And now want to know what to do or where to go next ??

I know he needs to apply to adjust his status but how exactly ? Is it another application like the K-1 form ...

    Thanks in advance :)

    How to Adjust Status (AOS)

    (For K1 Visa Holders)

    Understanding Adjustment of Status:

After marrying your US citizen spouse (within 90 days) within the United States, you have file for Adjustment of Status.

The Adjustment of Status (AOS) Process is designed for the Visa Holders to change their original entry status. In this case, K1/K3 holders entered on the U.S. on a 1-entry visa and need to change their status so they can gain benefits (such as employment, travel privileges, and most importantly Permanent Residence.) First read the AOS Guide: (Very Important!)

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1aos

Just follow the guide step-by-step. It's a lot of work but do 1 thing at time. Most people do all 3 forms at once. It’s the best option!

So if you're doing all 3 (Green Card, Employment Card, & Advance Parole), attach all the required documents with each application and mail together in same packet to the correct address.

The Medical Exam application needs to be completed by K1 visa holder and a local Civil Surgeon. Search for the closet Civil Surgeon near you using the link below.

    https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV

I paid about $75 for them to complete the forms. Try to find the best deal, some places will try and over-charge you. Most people who file should have just got there Medical done in the Dominican Rep and if they got all their required vaccinations and shots they will not need to get it again (if it’s under 1 year). So remind them you just need to have the Civil Surgeon complete their portion of the I-693. Make sure the K1/K3 Visa Holder has their Medical History form called DS-3025 (given to them after Medical Exam in Santo Domingo).

Remember to gather all of the correct documents. Each form (I-485, I-765, & I-131) require certain things. You will need to have 2 passport photos for each form. Total of 6. Have the packet organized so everything is labeled and easy to find. I'm including the Cover Letter/Checklist I made with my Packet. Feel free to use it.
