  1. Hello,

    in your opinion how many photos should one take with him/her to a visa interview (I submitted 16 with the I-130 package)?

    I will include a list of things that he is going to take with him, please tell me if we are missing anything

    * photos

    * Interview notification letter from NVC

    * skype call logs

    * partial skype chat

    * list of e-mails between us (no e-mail content)

    * copies of boarding passes, visa, and entry/exit stamps from my 4th trip to his country (was not included in I-130 package)

    * copies of my last 4 pay stubs and w2 form

    * NOA2

    * copy of I-130 package

    * copy of IV package

    * copy of AOS package

    * all originals and copies required for the IV package have been mailed to NVC, but we have extra copies

    Are we missing anything? Thanks for your help.

    P.S. It is kind of a weird question, but is it OK that my husband will be wearing a suit and tie for the interview. He has to go to work afterwards and he is required to dress up. We don't want it to look strange and can work around it.

  2. Hello.

    My husband has an interview later in January 2013. I have already submitted tax transcripts for 2009-2011, several paycheck stubs from 2012 and an employment letter dated in 2012 as part of the AOS package. Since it will be a new year, does he need to take with him a copy of my w2 for 2012, tax returns for 2012,etc?

    I did have a joint-sponsor, so I take it that if he is required to submit new documents, we need to get the same things from the joint sponsor.

    Thank you

  3. Hi,

    I had submitted the AOS and IV packages together. I received a checklist today from the NVC and it states that they have not received the AOS package. This is what it reads:

    "______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________

    The NVC has received the requested Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230). However, we are still

    waiting for the Affidavit of Support form. Please submit the Affidavit of Support form according to the

    instructions on the Department of State website at the following address:

    www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov."

    Is this a false checklist? Should I call them tomorrow to tell them that we have already submitted the AOS package?

    Thank you

    Regards,

    kg

  4. Hmmm that is strange. My mom did I 864, my dad 864a, but I never got any RFEs. My case was complete right after that. There was no reason that I did not send the marriage certificate. I just figured joint tax returns will be enough. I called NVC to ask about that checklist they sent which said I am myself not satisfying sponsorship requirements and they told me that since I have a cosponsor info everything is ok. I even asked them if they need anything else and they said no case is complete. I would recommend sending the package as it is. You will most likely get the checklist similar to mine, recommending a sponsor and when you call them after that they will tell you that they have your parents info and that's a standard checkist. Wait and see if they will ask for marriage cert. Maybe you just talked to the wrong person and if you call again you might be given another answer. Since you will need to submit the IV docs also, if they ask for marriage cert you can just mail that with a bar coded cover they will provide with the RFE. However, if you have marriage cert send it, won't hurt. but it is very strange that joint taxes are not enough, after all they have all the information on parent's relationship.

    It is strange indeed. The good news is that my parents have found their marriage certificate but it is in Russian and now I have to find a certified translator if I want to send it in.

  5. Yes, that is enough. I did the same to show my mom and dad are related. The joint taxes have all the info that is needed (home address, ssn, marital status). NVC had no problems at all, they just sent me a so called checklist which said that I myself might not satisfy the sponsorship requirement for the CO purposes, so I should make sure husband takes a copy of cosponsor info with him, even though NVC will forward it all.

    No marriage certificate from you parents is needed. Hope this helps! :thumbs:

    Thank you for the reply.

    That is a little strange. I actually called the NVC today and asked about it. I was told that I must submit the marriage certificate and only the marriage certificate will prove the relationship. I specifically asked about the joint tax transcripts but was told that they will not accept that as a proof of relationship, which doesn't make much sense to me.

    Now I am kind of lost as to what I should do. I have all the necessary stuff in hand from my parents to mail out the AOS package. But if I try to secure another joint sponsor, it will take some time to get all the necessary documents ready.

    By the way, was there a specific reason for not sending the marriage certificate which you explained to them? I am thinking, maybe, if I provide a little explanation why we didn't send the marriage certificate they will be fine with the transcripts. What do you think?

    thank you

  6. Hello,

    Instructions for joint sponsor and household member require to prove that the two are related and live in one household.

    Will joint tax transcripts of the joint sponsor and household member, which show the filing status, spouses' names and social security numbers, prove that the two are married?

    If the joint tax transcripts are not acceptable by NVC/CO as a proof that they are spouses, what else, besides the marriage certificate, will constitute one?

    thank you in advance

  7. Thank you for the feedback.

    My parents file taxes jointly and it is reflected in their tax transcripts (showing the filing status, spouses' names and social security numbers). Wouldn't that be enough for a proof of relationship? I intend to request in the cover sheet to use this as an evidence of relationship. I would include a marriage certificate but my parents don't seem to find it and getting a new one is near impossible. Dear VJers,

    can anybody help me with my last point? I really need to send the AOS package.

    Thank you

  8. all is completely right....dont forget to sign on page3 i-864a thats joint sponsor and hosehold member ...both sign required...dont worry u r absolutely right..just add both tax docs,proof of citizenship,and proof of relation(marriage certificate)

    Thank you for the feedback.

  9. Hello,

    my mom has completed the I-864 as a joint sponsor and my father has completed the I-864A form as her earnings alone will not be enough for a household of 3. They have completed the forms, but I want to make sure they have completed the forms correctly.

    I-864

    Q1 - check D (I am the only joint sponsor (my father is not considered a joint sponsor in this case, correct?))

    Q8 - Check "I am sponsoring the principal immigrant...) and check Yes

    24b - Include the name of my father (I-864A filer) with the annual earnings

    24- Check D (The person listed above has completed I-864A...)

    I-864A

    Q8 - Check C and "Spouse" since sponsor in this question means my mother ( my father's spouse) and not me

    Q13 - in the "I, the sponsor,.." we put my mother's (I-864 filer/joint sponsor) name, correct?

    Q13 - we put my husband's (intending immigrant) name and requested info in the box

    Q15 - my father (I-864A filer) puts his name as household member

    Thank you for your help

    Sorry to bug. Can anyone offer their feedback?

  11. Hi,

    From what I have seen and talked to people you have valid 2 points. First of all, most likely the CO will need additional time to review the newly admitted AOS. It will not be ground for denial in itself, however they will take additional time to review it since they need to verify the info you put into AOS. In Armenia that additional time might take weeks, even more than month. If you search the forum, there was a couple who simply needed to update the sponsor's address and Armenian consulate took almost a month to issue the visa since they were checking things up. One thing for sure, you will lose some valuable time.

    I would just send the AOS from joint sponsor to NVC. Remember, your husband will be able ton apply for citizenship in 3 years after he gets his GC, so your parents will not be liable for a long time, but you will be safer for the embassy.

    Hope this helps,

    Good luck :thumbs:

    Thank you

  12. Hello

    it appears that one can hold on to an AOS package from a joint sponsor and present it to a CO during the interview if required. However, could doing this potentially:

    1) Delay the process of issuing a visa (i.e. case going into AP, more time needed to review the additional AOS package, etc.)?

    2) Be frowned upon by the CO (i.e hiding things, etc.)?

    My husband prefers that my parents do not sponsor (with me of course) his immigration, but is willing show the joint sponsorship during the interview if required. However, if we believe that the 2 raised points (or others) may become an issue during the process, we will send the second AOS package (joint sponsor's) together with mine to the NVC.

    thank you beforehand.

    Bump! Sorry but need to decide ASAP.

  14. I can see you are like me and want to sponsor your wife on your own accord. So I too agree with option #1. And just have the co-sponsor info at the ready at interview. Remember NVC accepts but the CO has final approval of your AOS. So yes hold on to co-sponsor for interview.good.gif

    Thank you

    Just couple of more quick questions.

    1) Could this potentially delay the process of issuing a visa (i.e. more time needed to review the additional AOS package, etc.)?

    2) Will it be looked at strangely by a CO?

    3) Will the CO ignore the joint sponsor if the petitioner's earnings are enough if joint sponsor's docs are sent upfront (wishful thinking :) )?

  15. If you haven't sent your AOS off to NVC yet than send it with your i-864 info up front. Otherwise make sure your spouse has a new i-864 packet with co-sponsor for their interview so there is no delay. Because if one is needed you will be asked.

    I actually made a post regarding this issue at the same time as you posted your answer. Could you please take a look and let me know what your opinion is on the subject?

    thanks

  16. depends on

    1. the totality of the casefile and

    2. how the Interviewing Officer feels that day.

    So, IF you think already it's not gonna meet the requirements then

    secure a co-sponser now, and prep a new I-864 set on the co-sponser

    and send it off to yer spouse,

    to be presented on interview day

    or - secure a co-sponser now, since you only paid the AOS fee bill today.

    Good Luck !

    I actually reread your post per your instructions in your signature :) and this is what I think you meant.

    1) Submit the AOS package with no joint sponsors but have another I-864 filled by a joint sponsor with the required documents in the hands of the beneficiary to be presented during the interview IF the level of earnings of the petitioner becomes an issue.

    OR

    2) Redo the AOS package to include the joint sponsor and submit it to the NVC right from the beginning.

    From the two options, I prefer Option 1. Is that even possible?

    On the side note, do I have to sent original pay stubs or copies will do the trick?

    thanks
