  1. This thread is hilarious!! you guys kept me entertained (read through from 1st page, page it to page 15 while waiting) as I kept redialing NVC #, after 20 attempts, I got through! After another 10mins I got to speak to an operator!! WOW!! Apparently they just received our case, so no case number assigned. he did take our email addresses.

So he took the email addresses before case # was assigned, and said I'll get an email when its assigned?? Sounds backwards but is that still ok?

  2. You still have to deal with Irish border control, you know. It's not like a person can just land in a country and not have to explain why they are there. No one has to admit you and it they do they don't have to give you 90 days or 6 months.

There's no border control really (at least times I've crossed), its VERY porous (makes no sense to me) driving from Dublin to parts of Ireland like Co Donegal, at some point you even drive through Northern Ireland. The only way you know are the yellow double markings on the ground (Ireland), compared to white markings on the road (UK Northern Ireland)

We went from Donegal (Ireland) thru derry (UK) into Northern Ireland a couple of times, all you notice are the signs, especially GARDA for Ireland as opposed to police in UK. I still took my passport just in case the police happened to stop us and ask me for ID.

Matter of fact many folks who live in Donegal work in derry and vice versa.

Never get questioned at Dublin, takes like 1min for me to get through on a US passport. I havent even been asked what I was doing there, and I got 90 days each time in a 2month span! The 2nd time, they didnt even ask me why I only stayed a few days on my prior visit.

  3. hi mrs just doing our now :( do you mean hoping to be in america by july so roughly 7 months?? i reckoned around that time our lawyer was saying 5 !! hahaha i doubt it...also have u travelled to the states since filing? im hoping to although lawyer said not allowed others seem to think it is so am confused x

I'm the USC. It could be 5mths, the longest wait time is waiting for I-130 approval. It appears we'll get ours sometime in March. the NVC step is quicker, and we've all the stuff together, so he could have interview by May or June. some on here have done theirs in 4-5mths, others have tvken as much as 10mths and longer, cant really say.

The boards really do help. In regards to traveling to the states during the process, it all depends on the officer at the airport/POE. Bring enough evidence to show ur ties to back home. I wouldnt though just becos of the risk of denying entry.

Canadiandggal has given us all hope in dec!!! Congrats!!

  4. Hi folks

    1. Do you know of any examples as in your personal knowledge or personal experience where a person on CR-1/IR-1 visa denied entry at a POE due to prolonged absence i.e. LESS Than 12 Months but Greater than 6 Months?

    2. If you remained overseas for prolonged period and you were allowed entry at the POE, did they ask for any evidence of your intentions to return to United States and what evidence you presented.

I'll be especially interested about JFK

Best Regards and Thanks in advance

I know people who had to stay away due to family emergencies, and they brought a kitchen load of documents just in case they asked. Some got seriously interrogated, others were waived off, depends on the official. Always be prepared, and be honest.

  5. congrats, and i wish you all the best in your marriage.

I would like you to assist me please. My hubby filed for K1 visa but we've been engaged traditionally 2009. We had our introduction 2007 and we had our court wedding den too. however, we agreed to get married in US too as it was our parents wish, but in 2008 i got my e-passport as being married and when my hubby alerted me he filed for k1 visa, i had to go to d passport office and change back to my maiden name, he had to send a "to whom" to proved that it was his whole idea for me to change it not as a divorcee and a got a new one. I really want to no if the consulate would detect it and would it affect the all interview process and i hope it wont be counted as fraud attempt too.

    Please help.

US will recognize the Nigerian court marriage. It is best for him to cancel the application for K1 visa, and file the IR1(spouse) one for you. Whether you have your passport in your married name or maiden name, it wont matter to the US officials, who will see it as you all being married. The embassy officials are trained to ask the right questions to detect fraud, and you never know if they'll pay a home visit, and ask questions around. Your hubby can still file the IR1 visa for you, and you can still get married in the US (celebrate occasion, and not court).

  7. He can always go out as soon as he comes in but well it depends on the length of time, now its like 5-6mths outside the country, my father has a reentry permit (which allows him to stay away for as long as 2yrs if need be and not lose his GC, had to apply for it, u can get it if u work for a company US has interest in), but even then when he comes in after 5mths, they question, and sound irritated. some people get questioned, some dont, it all depends on whoever is at POE.

An aunt stayed a yr outside because her husband was sick, and just brought evidence about it in case they asked.

Also if he plans on naturalizing, he'll have to remove the time spent outside (if its more than 6mths)

  8. My suspicion is that the previous POE denial is what is the cause for the length of time. Does he know the actual reason why they denied him entry?

OT: My hubby stays next door in Co Donegal, driven thru derry before, actually on my proposal day, he proposed at the giants causeway.

Maybe you can go visit him? like was stated, def continue keeping all evidence

  9. Mine should be sent off on Monday Dec 14 (I'll be sending by priority USPS so takes 2days to Chicago), I prob have 300 pages of evidence  phone records, emails, skype chats, gmail chats, emails between him and my parents and siblings, and pictures (think I'll leave this at 20), plus 2 notarized letters from my mom and my sister, stamps of my entries to Ireland, flight itineraries printouts.

I'm praying that his is all done by the end of July 2010

Let the fun times begin!
