  2. Hello Everyone,

I met my fiance'online a year ago. We want to get married. He is a Ghanian. I am a U.S. citizen. I have been reading about the process. It seems long and complicated. I want to make sure that we do things right. Do I need a lawyer? We want to get married there for his family blessings and etc. Then I would like him to of course come here to the U.S. Do I need to apply for a tourist visa or a fiance' visa? What if he applied for a fiance' to the U.S. instead and we married here? Would he be able to stay in the U.S. after we marry or would he have to go back to Ghana until the process is complete? Thanks everyone in advance. Blessings...

  4. My husband went through a successful inteverw but was caught during the finger print and was asked to bring a proof of Identity before 2005 becos he's been to the US embassy wit different name on a passport arnd 2005..

The counselor asked him which is his real name? the one he used during 2005 interview or the one he is using now. he told the counselor the one he is using now, so the counselor ask him to bring a proof of this current name before 2005. I pray the approve his visa.

DID U ASK HIM IF HE WENT TO THE EMBASSY IN 2005 WITH THE OTHER PASSPORT AND WHY AND WHAT THE VISA WAS FOR

  10. More delays in the possibility of seeing our case closed before the end of the year. Dang snow storm!! Oh well.

  11. Would like to know if anyone being the petitioner was ever questioned about their travel and relationship by customs? I was on the way back from China yesterday and was detained and questioned by customs. What was I doing in China? How long was I there? Who did I visit? Did anyone give me money to travel. How much money was I carrying. Made to empty all pockets and coat and all luggage searched. I said this is the 3rd trip in the past year to go and get married and visit my wife! Then they asked me what is her name? Her birth date? Lots of questions then they asked me if I ever filed a previous petition or petitions. Of course I had so I answered yes they knew about those. They then grilled me on those 2 fiance visa's. I said I withdrew both of them. Which lead to more and more questions? Filed visa 2-13-10 for spouse. He said they are not just customs, but immigration and we are looking for fraud. I said I understood. All bags and belongings were searched. Every item in my wallet. Lucky I had pictures in their of her and some wedding photos. Receipts from money exchanges. Wanted to know if I had any evidence of marriage. Went to Guangzhou and did a Evolution of Relationship letter and had a copy of that handed that to them. I said I left all my our information there for her interview. In the end they liked all my answers and said this will help your case! In may 2010 I was detained and let go. They told me they had the wrong guy. They didn't say anything else I thought it was because it was because of my purchases. I also am glad I wrote down everything I bought. because they did check the customs form against my bags. I just want to make people aware and curious if this happened to anyone else?

    i have been questioned to

  12. Good morning my VJ family. My honey went to his interview this morning at 630am. They let him around 730a. After he paid his visa fee ( $350 US ), 30 mintues later they called his name. A real nice gentleman. He asked him a few questions:

    1. How did you 2 meet?

    2. Does she have any children?

    3. Do they live with her or on thier own?

    4. Does she send you money, if so do youhave proof of it?

He answered these 4 questions, of course. They laughed and joke a little bit. The CO had asked him for any proof of me sending the him money. Evans said he had left that home. The man said "######". The Co said come back on March 31st with that proof and more relationship evidence. Had Evans sign a DS-136 and told him Happy Holidays. So Im guessing that the only thing holding us back and being together. Age is not a factor, so those that are worried about the age thing....DONT cos Im 20 years older then him and it went fine. One question though, what is a DS- 136?

that 4th question never heard of it being asked but have him get all the reciepts dont worry u will get the visa

  13. I know it seems far away but I'm already thinking about how I need to file my taxes this coming year. We were married in Karachi in October so legally we are husband and wife by Karachi standards but does this also mean by US standards? If so...how should I file my taxes...he is still in Karachi awaiting approval from USCIS to be here legally. He probably won't make it prior to April so being a dependant with a SSN prob wont happen ...sooo

Should I still file single and head of household with my children?

    OR

File Married filing separately since jointly is non existent for us right now?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks,

    Ameena Adil

its better to file jointly u can get wats called itin but to be honest its better maybe to file single and amend the taxreturn wen he gets here it may be easier

  14. Hello Everyone at VisaJourney. I'm fairly new to this site & I'm a bit shy. I take awhile to look around first. My name is Brandi I'm married to a wonderfull man named Anthony, he lives in Accra Ghana, West Africa. We are 15 months into our marriage & our immigration process. I filed the I-130 last October 2009 with the USCIS right after our wedding. Our case moved fairly quickly throught the USCIS, California Service Station. Was sent to the NVC in February 2010. Anthony & I filed, filled out & paid all fees for the appropriate paperwork within a month. Our case was then accepted April 27th 2010 we were given our case number & we are currently still waiting for our documents to be sent to Accra Ghana for a Visa Interview to be scheduled. This process is extremely frustrating, All we want to do is start our family together. :)

    Hi,Brandi

Much patients is needed when dealing with ghana by u can get thru this,I have been waiting for a interview since dec,2009 and as of yet we havent got one its been 20 months since we started this journey i hope it will be over soon nice to meet u

  15. my husband is so devastated and wanted to make it for the Christmas but he was given a 221g about phone records. he told me they drilled him with questions for 1hr and 30mins, so guys be ready, i sent him 2010 phone records and rebtel calling card records but they want the one for 2007,2008.. calling card records, he had phone record from his Nigeria cellular, yahoo chat and video call from 2008 and 2009, he had emails since 2004 . i thought we were prepared but they still wanted phone calls from 2007,2008. they said the phone records printed online from t mobile website is not official and i do not have any calling card record from 2007,2008 since i was only using different calling cards. before the interview i went to t mobile office requesting a print out with their letter head and they said they can't give me one.....now i have no idea on how to get the records i have called my lawyer and hopefully will get something from her but right now i am so devastated and very confuse.....any highlight will help me please.......

I also print mine from t-mobile website and it is the actual bill wat are they talking about..i think they just want the bills from 2007 i swear they just want to see if we will jump thru hoops
