  1. Once she registers the marriage, she can get an idea of when to expect it to show up on her CEMAR. My wife's took about 2 weeks.Hope this helps.

What do u mean by that? We just need the marriage on record .....also what is the best way to send her something.. last thing i sent she never got.. sent it registered mail

Your wife may be asked to show the CEMAR at her interview and will show that you and her are married. I would suspect that NSO will want an original copy but aske them and see. The best way to send documents in my opinion is FedEX. Expensive but fast and reliable.

  2. There should be other factors to include when purchasing a ticket.

    What will the POE be?

How many stop will there be?

Immigration & time to make connections?

    And comfort.

The flight that I am considering for my wife will be about $40 - $100 more expensive than some other flight but I want her to be comfortable on that 15+ flight.

There will be 1 stopover/plane change in HK & then fly direct to JFK (her POE & final destination).

Her luggage will be tagged all the way to JFK so she do not have to worry about it.

I can choose her seat thus giving he a seat at the front/near exit so she will not be too far back when it come o immigration.

    Good points thekfc.

I too looked at is my wife's luggage and changing airlines in Manila. Weight restrictions for domestic flights are much lower than international flights. So the Butuan to Manila flight will cost me for overweight luggage. Plus if my wife gets a ticket from her town to Los Angeles she does not have to drag her luggage from the domestic terminal to the international terminal in Manila. The downside to this is that it pins me down to PAL.

  3. if you are married and your spouse is in another country, you can still file your taxes married or joint , being married you get a better fefund, and it's better evidence to show a bona fide marriage, to remove conditions in the feture, you need to get a tax form w-7 itin number, along with your social security number to file your taxes, call the tax 1-800-829-1040,once they get the w-7 signed and filled out, they will give you a itin number to use on your tax return,

My understanding was that you need either the ITIN number or social security number, not both.

    Great news hunniraine

  5. I've been waiting since July of 2009 for an approval or denial , I responded to an RFE, which took a year to get

I'm in the same position im packing up and leaving soon, in the almost 2 year wait the USA economy has went down, no jobs and a harder life here, while my wife has done a lot better in the last few years with work. Seems opportunities are opening in Asia, and we will just live together until they approve us and if not, so be it

Your case sounds like a nightmare. I wish you the best of luck in this new year.

  6. I would caution that all cases may not be the same but here is my timeline:

I got the sign-in fail on a Saturday.

I called and spoke to an operator at NVC on the next Monday. He said case was completed and gave me the interview date.

Two days later I received the appointment letter via email.

Interview was a tad under a month later.

  7. now, the waiting time for the passport is killing me!!! we badly want to book ticket for the 24th but we can't do so until we have my passport. guys, let us update each toehr once we have our visas in hand! =)

Yes, this will be a painful wait. My wife is a teacher so she needs a good two weeks to put her reports in the students records as there is only a couple of months left in the school year. Plus the hospital I work for will be inspected the last week of January so I wont be able to take time off and ticket prices are so much cheaper in February. February seems to be the date for me.

  8. Here I am!!!!! :star:

Updated: Apparently January 6th is the best day ever for visas!!! My husband was approved this morning :crying: Thanks to everyone who wished us good luck or kept us in their thoughts and prayers and who helped us along the way :)

He will be able to get his visa next Thursday and his POE is Jan 23rd :)

A big congrats to all of the PI Jan 6thers who were approved!!!!! Yahoooo!!!! Soo close to the enddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd now :)

    Great news TeyaValentina

  9. What!?!?

CENOMAR is only for the Philippine Citizen. The affidavit from USEM in Manila is sufficient for USC.

It may be all that USC requires but I had to have a CENOMAR in order to get my marriage license in my wife's city. I asked her brother why (He is a manager for NSO)and he said to make sure the foreigner has not been married in the Philippines before. He recently handled a case where an American had five marriages in the Philippines before.

  10. Just got the email

I arrived at the embassy, there were lots of people waiting for the embassy to open. Finally, the guard called for earlier appointments like 6:30 and 7:45 mine was at 8:30 am, I waited then at 7:00 those with 8:30 appointments were called to fall in line. We passed through a security check, as usual no food and electronic devices allowed. When I got inside the embassy I was told to sit at the back and wait for the guard to assist. I waited then at 7:30, the guard directed the applicants to go to a booth to submit the appointment letter, then I got number 6155 , maybe a lucky number he he he. I went back to my seat and waited for my number to flash on the screen for my turn for the pre-interview. At 9:15 my number flashed on the screen and I was assigned at window 14. A young pregnant Filipina was my interviewee. She was just ok, not soft not hard if you call it that way ha ha ha. These were the pre-interview questions she asked me:

    What is your name?

Do you still live in this address?

Is this number (phone) still exist?

    Where does your husband live?

    Is this your first marriage?

    What about your husband?

    Do you have kids?

    What about him?

Why it took you long to get married?

Do you have pictures with him? (I showed her the wedding pictures with captions I made, then she asked for more pictures , I was about to get two more folders from the black bag when she said ok no need), then she told me to go back to the waiting area.)

I waited then at 9:45 I had my finger scanning with an American personnel at window 16, he asked for my name and I was told to have my fingers scanned. I went back to my seat and waited for my name to flash for the final interview. I was already tense and nervous since those who were done said the one who interviewed them was strict, so I was more tensed. I waited and waited and at 11:05 my number flashed on screen and I was assigned in cubicle number 30 . My heart was beating so fast like drums in a parade and just like that of a racing car. I waited outside the cubicle since the ones interviewed ahead of me was not yet done. After 10 minutes, the applicant went out and I got in the cubicle. The consul was a sweet woman in her mid 30's I guess, A combination of a Chinese and an American,(like the character SUN in the tv series LOST).She was so sweet and kind honey,I love her so much, she is not one that scares applicants. I greeted her and she smiled at me. These were the questions in my final interview:

    Your name

    Address

    Petitioner

    address of petitioner

    is this your first marriage?

    How about him?

    do you have kids?

    how about him?

how many kids does he have? ages?

    what is his work?

    where does he live?

    date of divorce

    when did u get married?

do you have pictures? ( I showed her again the wedding pictures, I tried to slipped it into a small glass hole , but she asked me to open it instead for her for she doesn't want to bend the pictures. I slowly, opened every page of the folder and she always reply GREAT!)

how many times did your husband came here in the Philippines?

    where did you meet?

Then she said we"re done except that your NBI clearance that I got is in your maiden name, then I told her I got an NBI clearance in married name. I handed her the NBI clearance, she returned to me the personal copy and she said MA'AM YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED, I smiled at her and I said thank you . I waited again at the waiting area, and at 11:45 my name was called to proceed to window 16. The Filipino personnel gave me back my appointment letter stamped BIO F/P DONE Jan 6,2010 IMMIGRANT VISA AND A FORM TO BE FILLED UP FOR 2go TO SEND MY PASSPORT . i WAS DONE AT 11:50. I also got to know of two girls who were also at SMLC and we met here at the interview , all of us were approved so the one suggested we eat together at Chowking in front of the embassy, we were done eating at 1:00 and said our goodbyes, and we gave each other phone numbers both of them will also be in California.
