Hi All I have a question, now that I can finally apply for citizenship (as soon as I have $650 to spare) we just bought a home of our own, hence the no money thing LOL but we have been working on it and have not moved in yet but are planning to do so this month, my question is if we move in and I send away the change of address how long does that take before I can safely apply for citizenship without risk of corispondence being lost in the mail or whatever other problems could arise from changing address.

I am getting ready to file N-400 this coming September, I am married to a USC but I have two children I brought to America with me that are not his biological children, long story short I cant/wont change thier last name ( which was also my name before our marriage) his health insurance from work does not cover the kids even if they where his biological kids because they dont have his name, we decided a long time ago that I would change my name back to my former name and he would change his to that to, so we all have the same name, question is would it be better for me to request a name change on my N-400 or wait and do it after all the imigration stuff is over and I am a USC.

and as for same day oath, I wish no where on this forum have I seen NYC same day oath.......if only.

Only the applicant has to be present for interview / oath. Your USC husband is thus not required to attend. If your children are already US citizens they too would not be required to attend.

Some ppl don't get paid days off and rely on their income. This concept may be foreign to you, but this is reality for others.

My kids are not USC, they are Scottish born same as me, will they have to atend the interview? My son will be 17 by then and my daughter will be almost 10 ( she did not get called for biometrics in Jan this year when we did them for removal of conditions nor did they update her picture )

I just thought of a question, I plan on applying for Citizenship, at the end of summer, now I have been watching peoples timelines and compleation for N-400 applications is just over 2 months, so here is my question, my 3 years LPR is compleated on December 4th, if I apply early September within the 90 day window, what happens if I get my interview before the 3 years LPR is compleated?

Not having paid days off is not a foreign subject to me, as I myself do not get paid for days that I'm off from work. However point being, if your biggest concern about naturalization is that you might miss one single day of work, maybe you should prioritize other things.

But in truth the immigration prossess is not "just one day off" my husband is a USC and his boss has already been put out quite a bit with all the previous "one day off" for interviews etc, we have 2 kids and are saving for a house and the economy being what it is, one more day off would not be our best course of action unless absolutely necessery.

My children ( aged 17 by the time I apply and almost 10 ) they are not USC so they have to come with me?

I will be filing my N-400 at the end of this summer, so my questions are ( I am in upstate NY )1 does my USC husband have to take YET ANOTHER day off work to attend the interview?, 2 do my children have to attend and mis YET ANOTHER day of school, 3 what are the chances of a same day oath? and 4 if not same day how long will the oath ceramony take to get?

Nothing needed for children, you will get another biometrics (fingerprints only) appointment and then an interview.

As soon as you naturalize, your children under 18 become citizens. Only send application and fees for your self.

I recently recieved my 10 GC and have been checking on naturalisation, It says I can file 90 in advance which for me means early September since I will have held legal perminant residancey for three years on December 4th this year, I have 2 children also with GC's my son will be 17 in August my daughter will be 10 this November, I decided to go ahead and file the N400 this coming September, the question is I am asuming the filing fee is only for me, so I need to send three filing fees to cover the children to, am I right?

I didn't know that we could apply 90days in advance. I will send it out by Friday, I am just double checking that I didn't miss out any information.

Just a quick note to say my daughters green card arrived ( Finally ) so all 3 are now here.

Well my son and I have recieved our green cards as I posted, however my 9 year old daughter whom as I am sure you recall did not get called for a bio has not recieved hers yet, any idea as to why hers would be taking so long?

Just a quick update, I recieved the letters in the mail yesterday! Really fast considering I only got email notification 4 days ago !!!!

Hi, I have a question my biometrics appointment is Nov 19th and my son ( 16 years old ) just got his today his appointment is for Dec 1st and I still do not have an appointment for my daughter who will be 9 years old this month, why cant we just get one appointment date instead of me having to take 3 seperate days off work to run down to the Bronxs? is there any way I can ask them to combine the appointments?

I am trying to update this since I must have put the date for biometrics up wrong its 11/19/09 Sorry

Hi, Just to update I recieved my letter for biometrics today my appointment is in the Bronx on 11/19/09 so could someone update please?, I tried but cant seem to get it right.

I did not recieve appointments for my children this time ( well so far anyway ) will they get appointments? they are almost 9 and 16.

I recieved my NOA1 yesterday 10/29/09, now all I need to do is wait for the biometrics appointment right?.

Just to update, today I got letters for both my kids extending thier GC for a year while everything gets prossessed, none for me though !

I sent it to vermont service centre, mailed it out on the 21st and it was recieved according to tracking on the 22nd of this month.

Hi, you can add us to the October filers to Please, the I-1751 was recieved at vermont on 22nd and today the cheques got cashed......thats a good sign right?????
