Its been a long time, I can not tell you how much easier the immigration process was with the support of this site.

but now that I we are all naturalized, I would like to go back to Scotland for a while to take care of my sister who has M.S. my children where 11 and 3 when we came to America they are now 19 and 12.

I know there is a housing shortage and stuff in the Scotland now but how would I go about settling back into Scotland for say 6 months or a year ( I do not want to live my my sister she has no space in her home ) my 19 year old does not have his natonal insurance number which gets issued at 16 there.

Any ideas on housing and how to file taxes here while in Scotland if we are still there in January ?

When someone sponsors you ( other than your husband ) do they need to list the income of all the household members? Our sponsor wants to know if she needs to list her husbands income or just hers

Been a citizen for a couple of years now but as I recall, yes ALL household income must be declared if it effects the sponsors tax return. Good Luck hun, its a LONG hard haul but very very worth it.

I am not sure if there is a waiver or not but if they had a green card when you naturalized you can get them passports instead of N600 and save yourself about $1000

I know this but its a very confusing issue, yes they can get passports but should they ever need the certificate of citizenship they would not get it because the form asks specifically "have you ever claimed to be a US citizen" which is what you do when you apply for a passport....I know there is a huge devide on this subject, but it seems to me that the devil as always is in the detail.

Hi all, Its been a while since I have been on here and ALOT has happened in between, now I need to get my childrens N600 done and get them that precious piece of paper that says they are citizens, however with two kids thats $1200 dollars which I do not have since we just spent all our savings moving to another state (Fl) is there a fee waiver form for the N600 and what would qualify if there is? So I called today.... and it seems that my passport, naturalization certificate and name change letter are lost even though the cheque was cashed on the 20th on May.... time to begin my nervous breakdown yet, you think?

Did you make a copy of your certificate before sending it out?

I did make a copy of the naturalization certificate, however, I did not make a copy of the letter pertaining to my namechage as it was stapled to the back of the naturalization certificate and I really never thought about it until about 20 minutes AFTER the post office closed the day I mailed them away ... funny how that happens lol.

Just thought I would update you while I am totally freaking out, it seems my passport application is lost in thier system, which means my naturalization certificate and name change letter is lost with it..........any suggestions of what I do now before I have a nervous break down.

Hey, Just to let you all know I am on my third to last leg of this "seemingly forever" journey, I applied for my US Passport today, I did not expidite it so I am told it will take about a month....can I tell you just how nervous I was to have to send my actual naturalization certificate away with it ??? so once I get that back then I have to send away the N-600 for both my kids then thier passports.....Just wish it was all over now, but someday I guess.

OK so now That I am a US Citizen, I need to deal with the whole N-600 issue for my son who will be 18 this August and my daughter who will be 11 this November... however I find conflicting information on the whole N-600 V's US passport issue, If I am having trouble with it I assume many others are so I think it would be helpful to have a thread dedicated to it.

Just wanted to let you all know I had my Oath Ceramony in Manhatten NY today, it was a beautiful ceramony, so now my journey that began six and a half years ago is now pretty much over and I could not have done it without you guys, all thats left to do now is Passport application on Monday and N-600 sent away for both my kids who are 11 this coming November and 18 this coming August, Any advice on the N-600 ?

Can someone please update me, passed my interview today AND walked out with (after being there from 8.45 until 2.40) with my oath letter for 9am on the 29th of April, was a very very long day but worth it, the IO was a very nice lady I had waited almost 3 hours before the interview then had to wait a few more until her supervisor looked at and approved the paperwork on the speeding ticket I had recieved (only one in my whole life) that had been moved down to a parking ticket, then had to wait some more for the oath letter, but all in all it was TOTALLY worth it.

Congratulations to all who's journey is finally at an end, and for the rest of us, I can only hope the torturous waiting ends soon.

I just checked my status online, its STILL at request for eidence, it begins "On Jan 7th we mailed you a request for more evidence" so thats last touch right? I am getting totally paranoid and freaked out (as I do with immigration) since I had my application on thier desk on December 1st, other people are almost done with the process and I'm still sitting here waiting to hear ANYTHING......It's driving me nuts.

I dont understand why I still have not had an Interview letter, I got a yellow letter which arrived the day I did my FP, seems like this is taking way longer than I thought it would, ppl who applied 2 weeks after me are due thier interview soon and I dont even have an appointment, why are they being SO slow? is this because I requested a name change?

Quick update done the whole finger prints in the Bronx's at the damn crack of dawn today all went without a hitch other than the getting up at 3am to leave at 4am thing LOL.

Didn't think that was worth an update, did you? neither did I .......Until, I got home and checked the mail and found the yellow letter saying bring your driving licence etc when we give you an interview....

QUESTION'S QUESTION'S LOL......I am having my name changed back to my maiden name ( hubby will change his after this is over so we have the same name as my kids) However, my son will be 18 second week in August this year, we are in the Mid Hudson Valley NY....what is our chances of getting the Oath ceramony done in time to give my son automatic Citizenship?
