  1. I will be filing for this in just under a year. I was wondering as to how to inform the USCIS that I have moved to another address in the same state. I wouldn't want them to send anything to my apartment when I'll be in a house in a few weeks. Is there a certain page or address I'm suppose to update my residency location in the USA? I'm browsing the USCIS, but I may be completely blind and missing it! Thank you!

  2. We had the interview on Thursday, drove home from Montreal on Friday morning. So my husband drove home (USA) on Sunday. No Mail on the weekends in Canada! Then I got it on Monday, and my husband spun right back to me Tuesday night to take me home!

  3. I'm quite lucky my family is just a 4 hour drive away. I take a trip up on Friday night, get there at 9:30, leave Sunday at 6 or 7pm. But I don't visit a whole lot, like someone else said before me, you really run out of things to do. It's not like I work there anymore, and there's hardly enough time in the day to visit all of my family. I usually just keep it to my mom, and sometimes my dads place.

    We're very fortunate it's just a hop over though. My mom, sister and brother just visited us last weekend!

  4. As long as it's okay I still use my Maiden name on taxes and it wont mean anything like "I'm not his Wife" Kinda mess, I'll just wait until the 10 year card comes, then I can go with my SSM name change.

    Only other problem, can I get joined on his credit card account AND his bank account with a different last name? I'm not sure about the credit card part.

  5. I got my SSN about two weeks ago in the mail (Yay!) And I got my Permanent Resident Card yesterday in the mail ( YEAH!)

    Both of them are still in my Maiden Name. I know there ARE threads on this already, and I looked up old ones from like 2007.

    I will wait to get my Resident Card changed when I apply for the 10 year one close to the expiry date.

    (By the way, is my Permanent Resident Card my Green-Card? Wasn't sure! :P )

    But I'm worried about my SSN being in my Maiden name for when I get a job and do my taxes joined with my husbands for next year. Will I need to wait a bit to go to the SSN office to get it changed to my Maiden? Is there a fee?

    I had put my Maiden name down as my NAME on all my Immigration application forms as well as my Maiden. It just stinks they didn't make anything in my married name.

    I'm not worried about my Drivers License, as I will just bring my marriage certificate.

    Any help is appreciated!

  6. I had gotten denied driving across the border with my husband 3 weeks before our wedding. but I had no ties to Canada at all because we were told A LOt of wrong information from the USCIS phone in line. I was fingerprinted and flagged, and they said I would need strong ties to Canada to try again. In our case, we were told to contact them later on (The Chief there had given us her card) and luckily for us on the day of our wedding, I was issued an I-94 lasting 1 year! I couldn't leave and come back, I was stuck in the USA but, I got to be with my husband for half of my CR-1 Immigration process!

    It really is depending on the officer. If he just refused him and turned him around you should be fine. I hear it's usually cleared within 24 hours. But he needs to get a job, or start paying rent somewhere.

    We were VERY lucky and fortunate how nicely it happened for us even though once I got back to finish up my paperwork it was still another 7 months before our interview!

  7. I have to admit, I have gone through spurts of wanting a kid, but I talked with my husband, and I really understood we were not ready. We haven't built a nest for ourselves, I just got to the USA! He feels he doesn't make enough money, and in turn doesn't think he can provide for myself and our kids when we have them. Him and I want me to be a stay at home mother.

    I don't want a kid yet, but I've already gotten pressure from my Mother-In-Law. Talking about her 'grandkids' that will be here next year, or that since my husband is the oldest of his siblings, he is the one who has to make the first 'family'. Whenever they say to me 'You should start trying! I know you guys will be just fine!' I just say "hmm maybe in a year or two I'll start"!

    They try to make me feel bad because they say they're getting old. How is that my problem! I don't think she knows how much it sucks to be told that she wants grandkids every time I see her. My husband and I always tell her we want to wait.

    It's the same with with school. I never got an education higher than High School, but my mother in law and her sister (my aunt) say I should go to school now so I have it under my belt!

    I'm not going to be working when I have my kids! And it's not like I can get a part time career! Once I have my first kid, my second one will be coming by 3-4 years later, and the cycle starts again! If I want to go to school, I'll do it after the kids are in High School and can take care of them selves more. Doing it beforehand, I would forget everything I learned, and I'm sure it wouldn't mean much since I would have had no job experience in the 16-20 years I was parenting.

    SO! Ladies and Gentlemen, DO NOT let people push you. Be financially ready, build your nest. It's your life and family! If they ask you 'Why haven't you conceived yet', Just say you're BOTH not ready yet.

    I'm only 22. I'm just still a young woman! Haha!

  8. Financial documents that he may have been missing:

    Tax Transcripts for the Last three years;(Says Optional, but it definitely helps)

    Tax Return for the most recent year;

    W2 of most recent Tax Year;

    *His written amount that he makes that Annual Year and made in the past three years on the I-864 page 3 and 4;

    A Letter of Employment from his current Employer stating that he works, will continue working there, and how much he earns;

    Assets of Petitioner. (Bank statement of bank account; More than one car owned)

    *I have heard, that even if you think you sent everything in, they may not tell you until the interview day that you're missing paperwork. I believe you usually get called about an RFE, but sometimes it doesn't happen. I brought and did all of the above and I was fine. We did not have a second car though. Sorry I kept using HE since my husband was the USC in my case!)

    But I would like to know what he was missing as well!

  9. Call DOS. And one other thing, Make sure you signed up online with the correct Passport number! I had signed up months ago online, and accidentally put in an extra number on my passport. So when they told me to make sure its set up, I log in, and NOTHING was set up! The cookies in my computer showed me the wrong one I typed in! I'm glad I did it right when I left and made sure it was all set up. I had to do it on the hotels network on an ipod touch to set it up, and didn't find out I had it wrong the whole time until I got home!

  10. I'm glad I found this. I was just wondering this myself why it was only valid until 09AUG2011. But that's 6 months! And when I get my real green card since I've only been married for just over a year, will last 2 years!

    I was also freaking out about the 212(g)(2)(B)

    But for anyone else who wants to know:

    Section 212(g)(2)(B) of the Act which authorizes the granting of a waiver when the civil surgeon certifies, according to HHS regulations, that it is not medically appropriate for the applicant to have one or more of the required vaccinations.

    I am no longer scared! :D

  11. Congratulations again! I can't wait to say I'm going 'home'

    Can he use his Nexus pass or does it have to be a passport?

    My husband never purchased the Nexus pass for himself over the past 4 years, only a passport. I am unsure if a Nexus would be accepted. I know a Passport does though!

  12. For the Interview I had, they didn't ask for any 'evidence of relationship' stuff at all! It was just questions. Make sure you have your medical and your interview letter, and BOTH of your passports out if BOTH of you are going. It's like the US customs at the gate!

    I brought pictures, cards, credit card statements of him purchasing gas and goods in my town, and a few letters. It's hard to have anything else than that since you don't live together or own/lease anything under the same name!

    The Interview guy was really nice to us. He will look right into your eyes when you talk to make sure you're telling the truth! >:D

    I got my DHL waybill and it arrived at the office yesterday. ONLY TWO DAYS after! I'm picking it up this morning.

    So I'm going home tonight! :D

    Good luck for everyone going today! Tell the truth! That's it!

  13. Very much good luck!

    Missing Valentines day with your husband should not make you upset at all! (Yes a little for the birthday but you can ALWAYS call and talk later on!) You are going to the interview that determines if you FINALLY get to live together!!! :)

  14. I had my Interview on Thursday in Montreal!

    My husband and I arrived outside the doors at 6:30, and we were first in line. They opened their doors at 7:30. By the way, dress warm. My husband and I had jackets and hoods, and pajamas under our jeans but, standing outside for an hour froze our feet to death! Oh my gosh! There was a line formed behind us by 7am (Only a few families) but by 7:15, it was up to 20 people!

    They ask for your appointment letter and BOTH of your passports when you go in, so have them in hand! (The officer at the door was impatient with some people behind me!)

    You'll step up a few stairs and an officer will tell you to take everything out of your pockets and place it in a wooden box. Your jackets/gloves/hats go into a plastic container. Anything else just gets shoved through the conveyor belt. I did NOT bring my purse. I brought a plastic grocery shopping bag that held my huge X-Ray and medical, and a file folder with everything I need. People at the door were being refused who carried backpacks. I did see women with small purses (10" by 15" bags) but they went a bit slower through the door process.

    We got letter A! We took all our things back and headed down the stairs to wait for an officer to take us up into the offices. We were told to wait in the middle area in front of the Play Area. (Yes, there was one!) One of the first 5 families up there had a girl, so we watched her play! :P

    They called us up once for the fingerprints and the yellow envelope, then sent us back. Called us up again for confirmation of the NVC paperwork's information then went to sit down again.

    Third time up we went into the small interview office. They asked the year we were married, where my husband lived, where I lived, how much he made, how long of a drive it was from each other, if I have ever been refused at the border, and he asked a question about the US Visit Visa I was on before. (How long I had stayed when I was in on it)

    He scanned my left index finger, and then... Congratulations! He said I passed and Welcome to the United States!

    I instantly began to cry I was so happy. I had to ask again; "..Really?!" My husband didn't cry since there was too much people around! (But I saw him teary!)

    I think the hardest part of the WHOLE morning, was freezing to death outside. Each officer got nicer and nicer as we went through the people inside. The Interviewer we had was probably the nicest guy I met in Montreal.

    Just tell the truth and everything will go fine!
