  1. we have received that kind of message from usps too before when we send our RFE,,what we do is we call the USPS and we make sure that it was delivered,, after 3 hours that we called we check the website it says it is already delivered to LEE Summit.

You know I will, either you want me to or not :P

Me neither. At least that town is only 10-15 min away so worst case scenario I could even go there to get it back.

  2. My husband got called back after a phone interview. They want him to go in tomorrow and take an Excel test. He worked with Office 2003 at his last job, but this will be on 2007.

If all goes well at the test he will have a face-to-face interview with the local HR or managers. YAY!! I can't wait for him to have a job.

On the other hand.. it is nice coming home to clean laundry and the dishwasher running. ;)

good luck to your husband jewel....

  5. you dont't have to make a letter of request if you are attending also in her interview,, you could show a plane ticket of both of you as proof that you two are flying back together to USA so the consul will attach a small note on her files "expedite visa",,this is what we do to mine before after 2 days of my interview they call to pick up my visa.

  6. congrats ALW,,,we will be having our interview this monday at Irving Texas,, started to get nervous,,heheheheh

Congrats! It's such a relief. I just got a card production ordered email too! (Our interview was monday but there was some issue with my legal name, I described it in more detail in my blog but basically it's a bit of a mess.)

Now just waiting for emails #2 and #3 and then GC!

  7. CONGRATULATIONS ALW!!!!!!:dance::dance::dance: ,,,, thanks allot for sharing the info..i will be having my interview next monday too...,,,the passport of my USC husband was lost,,he cannot find it,,im asking if he really needs his passport during the interview?

We had our GC interview at the Irving, TX USCIS office today. Our appointment was for 11:30am and we got there around 11:15am but we didn't get called until 12:15pm. The interview lasted about 40 minutes. She told us she'll approve us pending a name change (on her part) and that I should expect things in the mail.

It says at the front door that they only allow people whose appointment is within 30 minutes to go in due to limited seating. Our belongings had to go through a scanner but we did bring our cell phones in without any problems. The building is quite new and was very comfortable. The 2nd floor waiting room was crowded when we arrived and the lady at the front desk mentioned a 1.5 hour delay. Thankfully our wait was NOT 1.5 hours. Everybody has a restaurant-style buzzer and when it buzzes, just go to the desk and the officer will greet you there. When ours went off, we were led by our officer through a door into a long hallway with individual offices.

Our officer was a very pleasant lady. She swore us in and then asked for our IDs (passports, driver's licenses). I had organized all supporting documents in a 3-ring binder with sheet protectors which turned out to be useful. She asked for my social security card which I didn't have. She asked me what name is on it because she was confused by all the different names I have used. My passport, US visas, and TX driver's license were in my legal name, while on my social security card, previous EAD, I-20, etc. have my "as known as name" that is also on the passport. All my financial documents are in my aka name as well, and I had applied for the green card in my aka first name plus my husband's last name. Anyways, she wasn't annoyed that I didn't have my social security card (I totally forgot), but she was satisfied to see my aka name on most other documents except the few mentioned above. She verified all the info on form I-485 with me, and form I-130 with my hubby (US citizen). She asked to see our original marriage certificate, birth certificates, and latest bank statements. She also asked if we have our 2009 tax return, which we didn't (we filed separately). She asked if we brought other things to add to the file, so we gave her our new lease, car insurance, and cell phone/home internet bill. She also took a look at our joint costco AmEx card statement and returned it to us.

While she was looking at these things, she asked:

    1) How did we meet? (My husband answered.)

    2) Who has which account? When were these accounts opened? When did we add each other? (We each had an account since college and just added each other after we got married.)

    3) Who lived in the current apartment first? When did we start living together? (I did, and we didn't live together until we got married, but we had put my husband's name on last year's lease so that he could get a gate clicker.)

    4) What was our wedding like? (Since we got married abroad, she was curious. At this point we pulled out our wedding album. She flipped through it and asked us who some people are. She noted that A LOT of people were there... which was true. We had over 250 guests.)

    5) Are we still in school? How many years do we have left?

I had also printed out more than 100 photos arranged in chronological order with captions. I had made it with powerpoint and just printed them out on plain paper. I told her she could keep it. Anwyays, she was very pleasant throughout and told us that she'll approve us as soon as she fix my name today or at the latest tomorrow (she'll go with the name on my application). She turned the computer screen around to show us the letter she would've just given me if not for the name issue and went through a list of things that I need to keep in mind (which was on her screen). She took my I-94 (said that they'll make notes on it and file it) and gave me back my EAD card. However, she did say that I should return the card when I have my green card. She said that if I need to travel before I get the green card, I can make an infopass appointment and get my passport stamped.

Anyways, yay!! I'm glad it's over. I hope y'all will have a pleasant experience too! Good luck (esp. to confuse & blackbird!)

  8. i am sorry about this blackbird and i really cannot help myself worrying too since i will be having an interview the same place as yours,,, my AOS had never been updated for about more than a month now,, the last update of my AOS was last May 5 after my biometrics,,, i would like to ask if your AOS had been updated before your interview date?

Went to USCIS in Irving Texas today. Had a 1pm Infopass appointment. For those who dont remember, i went for my AOS interview last week on Thursday and when my buzzer went off, i was told that i'd be having no interview because they dont have my file yet. I was really mad and wondered how i could be sent for an interview notice and they dont have my file. Anyway, the lady who was confirming my appointment today asked the reason for my appointment and i told her. She then told me that my situation was common and happens all the time. She gave me a number and told me to wait my turn.

15 minutes later i was called by some guy to a window aho asked for my infopass appointment. I gave him and explained my situation. He then looked to see where my file is and told me that the file was, as of yesterday, at the National benefits Center. He said that they are looking into closing it and sending it to Texas where they will then contact me and schedule for an interview. Well, i guess iam out of luck. I have everything but me interview date. I was looking forward to getting this over and its what it is. Cant scream at anyone so i guess i will just wait patiently. The guy told me that it could be another 30 days so we could potentially have the file in Irving TX on July 6th or earlier but could be upto 60 days (Aug 6th).

I wonder why this had to happen to me but i wont complain coz i have EAD and i work (a really good job) that supports my wife (USC) and i. Back to wait mode but i really think NBC should co-ordinate with local office before scheduling interviews...lol

  9. i applied SSN couple of days ago using my EAD ( i post about this couple of days ago ) unfortunately the SS in charge said my EAD card number is not yet been activated or not yet found in the department of homeland security they said i will wait for about 4 weeks,,, i am looking somewhere on what should i do so my EAD card number will be activated in DHS.

    Thanks Vivi!

So what about the EAD card: it IS enough in order to be hired in the US, right? Because I have a job offer, I already started and I will be sent the contract soon... But I only have the EAD card, not the SSN. Do you think this will be ok, or do you think I will NEED the SSN to be hired?

    Sorry I'm a bit confused!

  10. thank you ALW,,i will be looking forward to it,, my interview is on june 21,,my AOS last update was May 6 the day after my biometrics,,its been a month now that my AOS never been touched and our interview is coming,, i have lots running on my mind what if our file too are not yet there,,urrrrrrrrrrrgh,, i will be crazy thinking about it... good luck on your interview ALW,,i wish you luck...

Hey blackbird, I'm so sorry to hear that your file wasn't there! I hope you get it sorted out soon... My interview is next monday (June 14th) at the same office. Will let you and confuse know how it goes.

In other news... I have my AP and EAD card in hand. I desperately need that GC though since I need it to get financial aid at school for the fall now that I'm going off fellowship. Eeek.

  11. i got my EAD last May 21,2010 and my daughter got her EAD last june 01, 2010.... i wonder why they able to find my daughter and they did not able to find mine...

Usually after about 2 weeks from the time you get your EAD you can get a SSN. If you try earlier you may have what happened to you occur. Your timeline does not indicate when you got your EAD. If it has been 2 weeks then perhaps try again next week.

  12. me and my daughter apply for an SSN today,, the in charge there ask our passports and EAD. He said to us that my daughter will get her SS card within 2 weeks and then he turned me that my EAD has a problem when they are trying to authenticate it in department of homeland security my EAD card number is not found or have not yet been activated... he also said that my daughter EAD has no problem because they able to find it in department of homeland security files. he then told me that he will just informed us after 4 weeks or we can call them after 4 weeks to follow up the application becuase they send a notice to the department of homeland security about the said problem,,

has anyone had encounter this kind of issue before?

  13. does anyone here apply for SSN using the EAD?

  14. oh my god, i feel scared, nervous and worried now,,since we will be having interview at the place you have this coming june 21,, i guess i will have to call the USCIS Irving and ask if our files is there already? i feel so worried.....

OK. Just came back from my Interview in Irving Texas. So, i guess i am out to set a record. We got there and patiently waited with our restaurant style buzzer. A lot of couples and interviewers/IO's coming to get people. We left our cellphones in the car. Anyway, i guess it was at 12:30pm (right on time for interview schedule) our buzzer goes off. This lill old lady comes to get us and tells us that they don't have our file so "NO INTERVIEW TODAY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE" .....What!! Are you kidding me! Pinch me or something coz i must be dreaming. Lol. ANyway, she was extremely apologetic and said that our file hasnt arrived in :bonk:Irving. I have everything including my EAD and no interview? Pinch me again........ She took our interview notice letter and wrote on it that i was there but file wasn't. Now i just hope they haven't lost it coz i am going crazy. She doesn't even know when they will call me. I PRAY that they haven't lost my file ......wow.:help:I am loosing my mind. Anyway, i will try stay calm just coz i believe everything happens for a reason. Just like if you hit a red light and you curse out not knowing that if you hit green light you'd be in a bad wreck......something positive will come out of this. GOD BLESS AMERICA. I will try stay calm even though i took whole day off from work.

  15. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEHA!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS GUYS,,,IT DESERVE A BIG CELEBRATION....... :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I got my green card!!! =D

Our interview was scheduled to 11:30am. We got @ the Lawrence, MA office at 11, but there was so many people in there that we only got called at 12:15.

Our oficcer swore us in, and then asked me all the are-you-a-terrorist/a spy/etc questions.

She then asked were me met, confirmed our birthdays, asked if we've been married before, if we had any children. She looked at our wedding album, stopping here and there to ask "who's this person".

She asked me to confirm my current address, and the date we started living together.

That was it. It didn't take more than 10 minutes. Some of the questions were asked 3 times, and on some of them she would say the wrong thing, like "oh, so you guys got married 2 years ago, right?", to see if we would correct her.

It was easier than I thought.

Thank you VJers.... you guys made everything easier, helping a lot with the forms, and giving each other support on the moments of anxiety/doubt.

All the luck in the world for the ones that are still in the journey =)

And I hope to see you guys in Mar/2012 for the RoC!

    Love,

    Camila & Eric
