  1. hello to my vj family! good news we got our visas yesterday! and now i am confused... who will chose for our POE? is it from CFO? or we can chose our POE? or our POE is where the nearest airport to where our petitioner lives? i need help please... coz we already bought our ticket to seattle from where my husband our petitioner lives and we haven't been to CFO for certification/sticker and has bought our tickets already (of course we will still go to CFO for the certification) PLEASE I NEED HELP...

my answer to that is YES! that's the nvc told us to do... after we got our checklist...

Hey yna, congrats on so many grounds!!! i am so happy this is over for u, and the real journey can now begin. Thank God. So do u think u still have enough energy to share the actual interview story with the house? am sorry for bothering you. Mine comes up on June 2nd, and any tips would greatly help.

    Congrats once more.

  2. Hi ADMIRE! congratulations! I've read your post yesterday & i told to my husband to call NVC asap coz we are the same priority date right? but sadly, he informed me this morning that the NVC operator told to him that we have no schedule yet for interview...they are only processing for dec 1, 2006, our visa number is not yet available... so so sad...he will call again next week when NVC issue visa bulletin for June,2010...hope to hear good news next week...congrats & gudluck sis!

Thanks Jeanette07. Yeah, the AVR kept saying wait till 6 to 8 weeks after Case Complete, but hubby decided to call Monday morning again. Th operator had already told him the same msg, but suddenly asked him to holdon a few minutes and then later came back to say the schedule was just coming and it was for that date and that we should expect the letter. The letter came up in the email, last thing on monday morning.

Hang in there, am sure it should be ready by the next time the Visa Bulletin is released.

Mitch, you know u can do it, dont you? Pls hang in there, and i tell u : This too shall come to pass, trust me. Good luck sis. We shall all laugh over this over dinner, remember???

    Take care.

  3. I agree with u Mitch, maybe our friends here are busy with their stuffs. I am very happy for Yna coz i know by this time she's finished with the interview and in just 2-3 days she will received her visa through courier. :wow: CONGRATS YNA!!!

Guys may i just asked if it is possible that we will receive our visa number together with the Choice of Agent? I'm kind a worried coz our case was apporved January 6, 2010, its been 3 months now but then my hubby haven't receive our case number yet.

Thanks in advance and God Bless us all.....

    Hey Mitch,

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, I've been out of my base for days - went for a cousin's convocation. I guess everybody else is also apprehensive on their respective cases. I for one had been calling NVC hoping to get an interview date off them but no luck. Each day i run to my inbox hoping to get a mail from them. Awwwwwwwww, "not knowing" is a killer I tell you. I honestly can't wait for it all to be over.

  4. Hi, I am a permantent resident, applied for my wife as a f2a, my case was complete on february 06, 2010, My priority date is march 10, 2006, I am still waiting for interview dont't know what is happening, anyone has an idea how this works, thnks .

I suggest Rosa1 you call the NVC, send them an email, in short hound them till they sort you out. 'Cause SamKunle's PD is about the same as yours and his family are already with him in the States. Or I should ask you if your cour country's dates are still far behind?

  5. (L)

Ok thanks Raymon. Now that you've completed your I864, may be I can bug you with any questions I have :) . So you are emailing all the supporting docs + I864(fill, print, sign, scan) and will you also send hard copies through regular mail or just email? Have you confirmed from NVC if just email is okay or do you know of anyone who has done this without sending hard copies.

Leb Girl--- thanks for the input on supporting docs.

Hello everyone, missed you guys like crazy. Now that is some good news with the Visa Bulletin, and am sure all of us with December dates can almost be too sure our interviews will be in June, and maybe some might stray into July. But I miean that is such a huge sigh of relief after the heart-breaking move of just one month in the last bulletin. Can you believe that i have been going back every like time i could, to just be sure they haven't gone back to change the date from DEC 01???? So so too good to be true.

SAM, you are one blessed guy you know. Thanks for the honour of making me KNOW your family. I will miss them sore. Enjoy your lifes to the fullest. What we shared on that interview day can never be explained, only those going through the exact same thing can know the feeling.

TWULF, I just thought i sjould add my widow's mite to your question above. Be sure to fill in ALL the NAMES of the pple immigrating (that is the spouse and any number of children you gus have and have filed for) in the I-864 forms EVEN THOUGH you are using a co-sponsor. The petitioner should iclude all the names of the intending immigrants to his forms EVEN if his/her income is presumed low. The Co-sponsor form will complement that.

That was one of the major hitches we had in our journey, and it kind of delayed us somewhat, i mean whilst some of us spend 3-6weeks after the Choice of agent contact from NVC , we used a total of 3months.

Other contributing factors to our delay were that some documents were still not ready when we were asked to start submitting stuff, and mixed up some of NVC addresses. So mails got sent back after a week of posting and we had to resend again.

What am actually trying to say is that you can save yourselves some sleepless nights by getting EVERYTHING you can help getting READY. You can print off forms DS 230 online and fill it without dating, gather all your documents (marriage, Births, Divorce Certificates, travel passports, photo passports and any other doc specific to you situation). Just dont wait for an email from NVC before you spring into action.

Believe me the begining of the end of the whole journey is nearer than you think.

That is my story, now i know better and would not want you all to make the same mistakes we made.

Finally we got CASE COMPLETE on the 8th of April, and our PD Is Dec 27th 06! I cant believe this.

To MITCH and the rest of my ever expanding family let's keep our bodies together; let's keep one another warm. (L)

  6. Hello my VJ friends. I have some wonderful news. My wife and son's visas were approved today at the Lagos Consulate in Nigeria. We are so excited and relieved. It's been an extraordinary and long journey as you all can relate to. I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement.

My wife said that the interview went very smoothly. It lasted less than 3 minutes. The consular officer barely asked her any questions. The CO only asked her one question in the form of a statement - "so you and your husband have known each other for a long time?". My wife said "yes, we have known each other for about 10 years now; we met in college". The CO then asked to see pictures. She looked at a few pictures, and that was it. She said "congratulations, your visa has been approved". She asked my wife to pick up the visas next wednesday.

My wife could not believe it. I can't believe it. All of the mountain of evidence that she took with her - email logs, phone records, bank statements, etc were not looked at at all. All praise to God for making this a smooth process. A

My wife will be arriving in San Francisco airport next week Sunday. I can't wait to be reunited with her. The journey has lasted too long, but it's over now. I pray all of you have a smooth visa process too like we did.

Thanks again for all your support!

Congratulations,Samkunle.I am optimistic that the good news will spread across the VJ community. We have a lot to share with those who had gone for their interview like the Mitchells, and Samkunle. We have a lot to learn from them. Now That your family is joining you, I wish you the best of familyhood.

According to Mitch ,''A family is but an earlier heaven''. A wise saying indeed.

  7. Hi Vjers! finally, i'm here in the USA.. it's freezing cold.. i'll update my timeline for ya'll soon..

    '

Hey just reading this now! Jim&Mitchelle!! this is so so surreal!!! u guys made it!!!! i so so elated. congrats guys pls keep us posted with the rest of the interview encounter. I am so so high right now.

Hey Mitch, how has it been? guess the house is really growing, can see lots of new members here now. Don't we have 2 interviews we are looking fwd to, this March? I can only remember one, and that's Samkunle.

Hey, Samkunle hi. Longest time, how is the going? I cant imagine how u guys are feeling right now. Days to go!!!

To the rest of my family out there, let's keep the hope alive.

  8. reading TWULF's and LEBANESE GIRL's post brightened my day.. i was even laughing while reading... my friends here in the office are just staring at me.... but you know sometimes, when things are just so hard, so tiring that i dont even have time for myself, so lonely which im thankful to GOD that i have my son with me, so sad that is takes a bond to be separated temporarily for years to be together as ever..... just so drained you guys that i thought of giving up and just going back to my own wonderful country and spend life in the simpliest way.... and i totally agree, the distance is what makes us closer and more passionate... i can say communication is one of the keys to survive our situations....

im just so thankful enough with my VISAJOURNEY family.... im always been looking forward to go online and check on this thread... i enjoyed every post that we have in this specific thread... its like a family that i never had....

    .....awwwwwwwwwwww, how sweet.

  9. Hello fellow vj members,

How are u all? I would like to ask a few questions. We got the AOS bill just last week and we waited for our tax refund and now we are ready to pay the bill.

My question is Do i have to pay $70.00 each for each of my kids? or i will only pay $70.00 for both?

Thanks a lot for ur help.

just one $70 is all u need to pay from my own experience.

  10. Hi Samkunle,

Thanks for the reply..and congratulations!! your wife is finally set for interview...hopefully all is well.

Yes im still an LPR. So all i have to do now is sent letter to NVC and have my child included on my wife's petition.

Will NVC provide you a NOA that the child petition is approved and included on my wife's petition?

calling them a week or two after sending them the letter and the child\s bc should be ok. just make sure u speak with a live operator, and seek to know if ur child\s name has been added to your petition.

that's what we did with our 2 children.

  11. Hello pples, happy to let you know that our choice of agent has been replied to as being accepted. We have also paid the IV bill. I am so so happy to see the end in sight. Pls hold on just a little while longer everybody, it'll soon be here.

Butterfiylove, am so thoroughly going to go through your poems! I love the way your mind works.

Who was that talking about Choice of agent, my advise is call the tel line and speak with an operator, they'll tell you exactly what is going on.

I called them the other nite they said they were yet to receive it, then i called last nite and the guy said they just received on the 26th and that it takes two day for it's review and acceptance after which my IV bill would be generated. Woke up this morning, and alas, there it was !

So...call them and speak with someone.

SAMKUNLE, thanks for the text, hope u got my reply? MITCH, yes, i mean it too, it'll be great for us all to meet. Let's keep it in mind.

    See my updated timeline.

  12. Thanks so much Samkunle. My next question is ,did you have to send kid Birth Certification too. ? Bro, I'm trying to gather stuffs NVC may ask ?

    Bless U

    Hey Shallom Hi,

the thing is you have to send ALL your documents in their original form, and you also send in photocopies. Be ready to send in the original or Certified True Copies of your Marriage Certificate, Divorce Certicate (if any) Beneficiary's Birth Certificate, Children's Birth Cerificates, photocopy of beneficiary's and children's bio-data page of passport, and any other document you deem necessary for your application.

  13. TAX INFO

U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens Abroad - Nonresident Alien Spouse

    Election to File Joint Return

If, at the end of your tax year, you are married and one spouse is a U.S. citizen or a resident alien and the other is a nonresident alien, you can choose to treat the nonresident as a U.S. resident. This includes situations in which one of you is a nonresident alien at the beginning of the tax year, but a resident alien at the end of the year, and the other is a nonresident alien at the end of the year.

If you make this choice, the following rules apply:

You and your spouse are treated, for income tax purposes, as residents for all tax years that the choice is in effect

You must file a joint income tax return for the year you make the choice

Each spouse must report his or her entire worldwide income on the joint income tax return

    Social Security Number

If your spouse is a nonresident alien and you file a joint or separate return, your spouse must have either a Social Security Number (SSN) or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). To get an SSN for your spouse, apply at a social security office or US consulate. You must complete Form SS-5. You must also provide original or certified copies of documents to verify your spouse's age, identity, and citizenship. If your spouse is not eligible to get an SSN, he or she can file Form W-7 with the IRS to apply for an ITIN. Refer to Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TIN) for more information.

Thanks SweetApple for the link. Reading thru now I think it is clear to me now that it is actually up to one to choose whichever status u choose to file with. Either jointly or otherwise, but the site makes it clear that it might be more advantageous to file jointly, i guess as per tax credits returned each year, but for us, i think we'll leave the status as it is till later when we join him in the States.

  14. im trying! hahahah.... i havent had a word from our sis pilya since she started her first job which i totally understand. shes enjoying her life with her

whole family as one... and also enjoying US life. where will you be here in the US thought? LPRs should have dinner sometime... and talk, laugh about the whole immigration process..

Now Mithch, that is some thought! Hold on to that thought, we could make it happen!! All of us at some dinner in some posh restaurant! uhm....

Hey Butterfiylove, come on, lift up your head and have some fun! We've all had our down times, but i promise you if you keep on keeping up with us your friends, the whole process will be done before you know it! And like Mitch said, you might just be through before the end of the year!! How cool is that?

Jeanette, yes, I did get my choice of agent on the 15th jan, and sent both an e-copy and a hard copy. The system now shows the AOS bill as PAID, hoping we receive the IV bill b4 the end of the week.

  15. Jeanette, congrats on starting your IV processing with the NVC. I am assuming you are refering to the DS3032 form, the Choice of Agent form. To submit a choice of agent request by email, follow the instructions in the link: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form. You do not need to scan and email the DS3032 form. I advise that you send the email right away since it takes at least 10 days before NVC reads the email. You may follow up by mailing a hardcopy of your signed DS3032 form when it is generated by NVC.

With regards to checking the status of your case, I am not aware of an NVC website for checking the status of NVC cases. The best way is by phone: 1 603 334 0700. Also, your online NVC account to the IV invoice payment website through which you guys will be making payments to the NVC will be used to know when your payments for the AOS bill and the IV bill have been accepted and when you can submit the required documents requested. The account can also be used as a rough guide to determine when your case is completed. On the day you are no longer able to log on to that account, you will know your case has been completed.

I suggest you familiarize yourself with the NVC processing through the links on VJ and through the NVC website.

    Good luck!

Jeannette, so glad to see someone of my PD on this page, that way we'll be each other's guides.

SamKunle, you are the bumb. Your responses are quite thorough, i hope u know we all appreciate it.

Mitch, keep the torch burning sis. Still hearing from Pilya? Cant wait to be home also.

To the rest of us out there, do have a great week ahead!!
