  1. Guys I just realize, NVC made a mistake on an interview letter. My wife's passport shows First Name: xx yyy, while XX being first name and YY being last name. Surname field is blank. NVC put FNU for First Name, and Given Name and Last name all together making FNU. What can we do prior to our interview to correct this issue, i do not have any troubles or problem such as AP or anything. Anyone has this issue?

I am in a similar situation. I noticed his address zip/pin code is off by one digit..the last digit is listed as 4 when it should be 7. Since they don't mail anything, I don't think its an issue..I noticed on the second set of paperwork we sent in, it was typed in as 4 by mistake which is where they must have gotten the address from. Am hoping this won't be any issue when they compare his passport to their documentation.

  2. I haven't received anything yet (no interview date assigned) but I understand its the NVC who sends the instructions which is called Packet 4

They sent the sheet to both me and my husband....I am the choice of agent though. Our checklist was a list of documents with a letter by each one...and the instructions included what each letter meant...for ours, we don't have to bring anything to the interview but a passport and the medical...though I am making him bring copies of all the packets along with relationship proof..

  3. I didn't think about it that way but you are right. They specifically don't want him to leave India as his sister has already moved to London and I am sure they are afraid they won't be taken care of. Our plans are to eventually return to India but until my daughter is older, we have to live in the US and neither of us can stand being apart. I am compiling a list of questions they will potentially ask so he can be prepared. With our relationship being so abnormal, I think they may question him a little harder and I don't want him to get nervous. He is already struggling with all of this anyway because he is leaving everything he has ever known. My fear is that the culture is so strong there, that they just won't be able to understand how he could fall in love and marry a divorced westerner with a kid from previous marriage....who is 3 years his elder...and just assume its fraud because its sooo abnormal. We have fought so hard and been through so much for us not to be able to finally be together. You are right, it really does suck...I am always hopeful though, whenever they are ready, I will be ready to welcome them with open arms. I know they are wonderful people...he is so great, and they raised him..so they must be. :) I will definately post how it goes! And he still has no idea that he interviews in just a couple of weeks.

  4. No. No one's opinion about the marriage influences the visa process.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't really concerned because we have all the substianting proof of the legitimacy of our relationship including boarding passes from 4 trips to india within one year..if that ain't love, i don't know is..lol.but i have been researching the interview questions and time after time, this same one keeps coming up of whether or not the parents have met the spouse etc...and if they are ok with the marriage. In our case, he pretty much rebelled against his parents which is completely out of the ordinary for India. Just making sure that isn't going to hurt us.

  5. Chennai Interview schedule for September has not yet been finalized.

Thanks, I have been checking that too. I did see that they sent a few packages to Chennai this week so maybe we will be in luck!

  6. I just got in from a fun day at our local amusement park and called the NVC. They just said we are awaiting an appointment schedule date and was unable to make the August interviews (which I knew) and she said they were scheduling Septembers interviews this week and to call on Monday to see if we made it in for a September interview..This is for Chennai (MDR) If this helps anybody...

  7. GUESS WHAT!?

I called the NVC and asked them if i needed to send in a local PCC. She said, at this point if your interview is in Madras, Bombay or New Delhi no local PCC is required. only RPO.

So i didnt believe her. I said NO WAY! prove it!

    She gave me a link.

This is what the link reads.

    "Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office.

Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.

Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.

Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India. "

So at this point, i have EVERYTHING i need, im still going to get the local PCC and send it in, because im freaking out and im a worrier.

So i just wanted to give you guys that excellent news! but what are your thoughts, should i really wait to send in the Local PCC or no.

    Have a look.
