There is some sort of legal loophole in Florida i just saw on the news, there may be a couple of other states too. A man was able to adopt his girlfriend to control his assets so that if something happened to him his money wouldn't go to someone else. Florida law would be a a good place for your friends to start. I don't have space to type it all out here. Msg me if you want more info.
