  1. Hi i have been a silent member of this forum but have posted for the first time.............It has been pretty helpful. Does anyone know how long it takes to get your passport back from the embassy. I submitted mine on jan. 22nd and its been 5 weeks now n no response form embassy they just keep on saying its uner final review it will take another week or so and when the week passes no reply. does anyone know?

Sorry AAA9, I wish I could give you some news. We're in the same boat, my husband's approval was February 4th and they kept his passport telling him 2-6 weeks before delivery of Visa....we're now half-way through that time frame with no news. At least you've been given some information, I can't get through to the embassy and they are not responding to e-mail inquiries. (well I got a "standard form" response with absolutely no viable information so I don't count that response.)

good luck and I hope you have your Visa soon.

    About Domestic Violence Against Men

    Revised: May 20, 2007

Domestic Violence Is Against The Law In Oregon

Statistics About Domestic Abuse And Violence Against Men

Very little in known about the actual number of men who are in a domestic relationship in which they are abused or treated violently by women. In 100 domestic violence situations approximately 40 cases involve violence by women against men. An estimated 400,000 women per year are abused or treated violently in the United States by their spouse or intimate partner. This means that roughly 300,000 to 400,000 men are treated violently by their wife or girl friend.

  3. Looking back I can say the first three months were the hardest on me emotionally, then I found my way of dealing with "down time"....although I don't chart like Darnell. LOL

I organized, remodeled, researched some more, puttered around my house, then went back to researching. I organized a binder with clear sheet pockets and put all instructions, required documentation and things I read about and needed to remember for each step into each of these pockets...organized by "what was next." i.e. as soon as the 129-F and 1-130 were filed I started on the AOS requirements.

You're not alone, we've been through it and some of us are still going through it...but it does get easier with time.

  4. hahaha! I so believe it! We'll be applying for the K1 when it's time. We've been friends online for nearly three years and a couple for more than a year now but we still have to have our first face-to-face visit so we're not making any assumptions til that happens. We have a strong suspicion that this is "it" though so we're examining the steps we'll need to take. In the meantime, we're doing exactly what you suggested: enjoying the journey! :)

Congratulations on finding the love of your life and I hope your face-to-face time is amazing and wonderful.

One thing that I found when I first started our journey for the Visa, was a post from Darnell that said (and I'm paraphrasing here) to use your waiting time or down time to explore the next step, research, print forms prior to the NVC (National Visa Center) requesting them from you and have the next packet of information ready for to send out as soon as you get the next notice.

This was soooo helpful to my husband and I and really helped us move fairly quickly through the process. The only RFE (returned form for more information or missing documents) was on our Affadavit of Support because my dependents on the form didn't match the dependents on my prior year tax returns. Although I included my divorce decree (which I assumed would explain the changes), the processing agent didn't take the time to read through the entire file and sent a request for a letter of explanation why they didn't match up. Frustrating...but things like this can happen even if you're 100% prepared.

It sounds like you're already a person who researches and preps ahead of time, so you should have very few issues. Sounds like you're looking at a 129F for fiance to start things off...unless you decide to elope during your first visit LOL.

What the heck is a áo dài???? sounds like it would make anyone look fat LMAO

    Cheers!

  5. nope, you're not alone....I think we've all developed ulcers from the stress of the process. LOL

First step is to determine which Visa status to apply for...are you married or engaged?

Here is where we started: http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/visa_1750.html

I read every available bit of information I could get my hands on here at the Visa website, then came to VJ for issues I found confusing...or when I just needed to vent from the anxiety of it all.

Good luck and try to enjoy the journey...the days that I used our time apart to be productive were so much better than the days I gave into the indigestion.

  6. I am new here on this site and hopping some one can help me find the way out of the mess i have put my self in, here is my story:

I met my wife online , she came to pakistan 11/2008 and we got married then .

    she filed I-130 and I-129 f

the process over all took about 15 months and i got the k3 visa ..evrything was fine between us till i moved here with her and her family in 8/2010

since then her father had brained washed her that i am here only for GC and thats why she is not doing my EAD or AOS.

me and her father don't get along at all as he makes fun of my religous and my ppl , my wife is expecting our baby girl in few days thats what kept me here with her otherwise i would had left the house on the first time her dad insulted me infront of her ..and when i ask her to move out of her family's house so we can have our own life together but her answer always finacial issue , i ask her then do my paper and i will work for us she says yes then after her dad comes around she changes her mind.

im so lost in all this

what are my option if she refuses to do my papers?

what are my rights as a father to claim my baby?

    thank you

  7. Thanks for your reply I will surely gonna do that as you said thanks buddy for your help and concerns highly appreciated.

Hi Mansoor, it looks like Darnell and a couple of our really very valuable members are trying everything to help you.... I hope you carefully read everything they post and follow their instruction. Although no-one here is a legal representative, these seasoned members are very knowledgeable and can help you immensely if you don't wear them out asking the same thing too many times.

Every step of the process comes with detailed instructions from the government. All forms and instructions can be found at www.travel.state.gov. If you want to proceed in a timely fashion read the instructions very carefully one or two times before you even start filling out the application. Then check your application answers two or three times...every single field.

If the NVC asks for specific documents, then send them the very thing they ask for. Have your police clearance record and birth certificate certified at your local government office for authenticity. I have never heard of a case where petitioners have not received their original documents back from the embassy. I'm sure it can happen, but it is a very very rare occasion. Every form has instructions on where to send the completed form and required documentation...always follow the instructed mailing requirements and I highly recommend sending your packages in a way that can be traced, such as USPS express mail with signature required from receiving end. It costs more but it is worth your peace of mind.

You will send all of your documentation to the NVC in the US UNTIL THEY NOTIFY YOU that your case has been sent to Islamabad (if you live in Pakistan) or the local embassy in the country you reside. They will keep all of your originals until your interview date. Immediately after the interview they will notify you of how you will receive your originals back. My husband was handed all original documents back at the embassy after his interview, but they kept his passport for the visa.

There will be times the embassy will keep your originals for a little longer after the interview...rest assured that your originals will be delivered to you via the approved courier with your Visa and point of entry package.

Do not include additional documentation with your application if it is not specifically required. It can slow your process and you may need some of these (like your educational certificates) for personal use while you wait for your process to be completed.

I can't emphasize enough that it is simply reading the instructions, following the instructions carefully and triple-checking every detail that will help make your journey easier.

Good luck to you brother and I hope your journey goes well. Also, your timeline is very important here so other members can help you based on where you are at in your actual process. I highly recommend updating your timeline often.

  8. Sad news.....I contacted the embassy via e-mail yesterday to see when the anticipated delivery of my husband's Visa was going to be happen only to be told he's in AP.

What the heck? They told him at the interview that he was approved, gave him back all of our original documents, kept his passport and told him he'd receive his Visa package in 2 to 6 weeks. I asked him yesterday what color of slip he received...it was green.

Sooo frustrated at this point! Has this happened to anyone else?

  9. Just got a call from my love....his visa is approved!

He was so happy, the process went so well for him. The interviewer told him he looked very sharp today, he thanked him and then there was no questions! He took some documents, handed my husband all of our original documents back and told him three to five weeks...handed him a slip of paper and that was it!!!

I've been praying all night for him...thank you God for our blessing!!

Now I can finally sleep...thanks to everyone who wished us well and kept us in their prayers.

    WHOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Houssain has the Visa, in his passport, in his hands! :D Alhamdulillah! Allahu Akbar! (L) I am so relieved, I cried when he told me.

It almost didn’t happen. The consulate was supposed to have the visa ready this past Friday, but they lost some forms, so Friday was spent with him taking new forms to the consulate. They told us it would be ready Monday, then I called Monday and they said it will be ready Tuesday. I called Tuesday, and they said it will be printed Tuesday. Well, they actually printed it this morning (Wednesday) and called Houssain. They told him to come pick it up tomorrow (Thursday). He can’t, because he has to work. So, he mad rushed to the train station to get the next train to Casablanca and be there about 3:45. (Keep in mind, he had to be there before 4:00 to pick up the visa today.) Well, the train was delayed due to some issue, and he did not arrive in Casablanca until after 4:00 (oh no!) He grabbed a taxi and ran to the consulate! (he told me “I was running like a thief, like I stole something!” LOL) The security guard told him “sorry, they’re done for the day” and would not let Houssain inside. Houssain went to the window, and saw a man that recognized Houssain from last week. (Houssain and this guy actually got into a heated discussion last week, and this guy actually told Houssain “Do you want the visa or not?”, but that’s another story)

So, Houssain asked this guy “PLEASE PLEASE let me have the visa today. The train was supposed to be here on time, but it was late.” Houssain showed the guy the train ticket as proof. The man said some snippy remark about being late, but he gave Houssain the Visa and the paperwork for his point of entry when he gets to New York!

Alhamdulillah! (may Allah bless that rude little man!)

So, tomorrow my honey goes back to work after his holiday, and we start the process of planning his trip. I know he has to work for the next month, before he can leave his job. So, we are probably looking at sometime in the 1st/2nd week of March for his arrival, insha’allah. It would be so awesome if we could be married on March 20th, which is the first day of Spring (kind of symbolic of new beginnings).

I wish the best to everyone, as always.

    Jennifer
