  1. No. Your sister's fiance is not a qualifying household member. He can't submit an I-864A and join income with hers. He'd have to be her spouse, parent, adult child, or sibling.

I realized that after the fact. HOWEVER. This would work because they are getting married in less than a week, and we aren't filing until the end of January. For proof of their marriage, we are planning to send a photocopy of their marriage license. They just aren't claiming each other as dependent on their 2010 taxes because they weren't married in 2010. I don't think this would be an issue, right?

Sorry about the mix up. I forgot to strongly mention their upcoming wedding when stating the original question, lol. :bonk:

  2. Alright, so I already know that I need to fill out the I-864. As I don't make enough money currently, we are planning to use my sister as a co-sponsor, and then supplement her fiance's income in to make the guideline. She fills out the I-864, and he fills out the I-864A. Together, they make roughly $30,000 a year, and they have a son, though they aren't currently married, and thus only she claims their son. So for the 3 of them, plus my husband (do I count him in their household? ), it's ~$28,000 to make that 125% guideline, and they make it. I guess I just wanted to make sure I had all the forms right, and all that jazz. For documentation, they will provide letters from their employers (simply because they both started their jobs this year, and their taxes for 2009 are less than they would be for 2010) and their most recent tax transcripts (though they might even end up being their 2010 taxes, if they get their W2s quick enough in January). Will they need to provide proof that they are living together? I'd assume a copy of their lease would suffice for this? For 2010, they aren't claiming each other, but they will be getting married here in a few weeks, so should we send a copy of their marriage license or something to show proof of relationship?

Annnd that's a lot of text. Okay. Sorry. I'm sure you (the reader) can make sense of it, though. If you can't, please feel free to ask. Thank you in advance for your help!!! :)

  3. As far as the job in Iowa, Mathew didn't get it.

    Awww nuts. :(

As it turns out, we were figuring out my sister's income based on her being paid bi-weekly. We got onto the subject of them feeling bad that they couldn't help, and I was trying to explain how we came to that conclusion, when my sister pipes in with "Sis! I get paid weekly! Not bi-weekly!" Cue massive spaz out! She works about 35-45 hours a week, making $8.77 an hour. She, alone, makes almost $20,000, and he's made $12,000 just since March. UM. LOL. They make enough if we're all counting right! I'm just a little confused about how the whole co-sponsor thing works. They are living together, not married (YET! That's in like a WEEK LOL). She claims their son right now. She's filling out the I-864, and he fills out the I-864A to add his income into it because she doesn't make enough on her own? Maybe I should ask in the AOS forums just to make sure I do this right, lol... but you ladies are just so knowledgeable and I don't want to do this wrong! I'm the last of the September filers to do this, lol...

    Any suggestions? :D

Hope the new year is finding you all well so far! I know there are still situations going on that will make things otherwise... but other than those, I hope all is good. (and thank you, in advance, if you help!!)

  4. Frenzy, I just re-read your post and my reply and notice that I didn't post what I wanted to say, I was so distracted. However, I hope that they agree to be your do-sponsor and that they won't change their minds ;)

Frenzy.. how are things on your end?

Kind of just running with the whole post quoting thing. My sister and her fiance don't make enough to help. They are about $5k short, and since they don't own any property or anything like that... yeah. So we're back to square one. We're going to go try and talk to my grandfather again, and see if his (Matt's) suspicions about it just being the wrong time are correct. I found out a few days after Christmas that 2 of my cousins apparently got into a fist fight and my grandfather got in the middle and nearly got knocked over himself, so Matt could be right. If he says no, we have an aunt on my step-dad's side we're talking to, and if she says no... we're screwed. Not even going to lie, that scares the heck out of me. I feel like a failure enough as it is because I can't seem to get a job anywhere better... and when I do find a job, they call me the day of my drug screening and tell me that they've put a freeze on hiring and can't hire anymore until AFTER Christmas. Oh, yeah, did I mention I was THISCLOSE to having a job at Walmart? Yeah. :( Foot was in the door and they slammed it. I'm only hoping they call me after the New Year.... or heck, that I get a decent response when I call them because I WILL CALL.

Other than that, we're just counting down the days until we're able to file. He's starting to get fidgety just sitting around here all the time, and wants to work.

The other good news is that I should be done with school by this time next year....... LOL. Seems so far, but it really isn't in the grand scheme of things, I guess...

Fuat has decided to leave. He bought his ticket yesterday and goes home on January 10th.

Jenn... my goodness. My heart is breaking for you right now. After all you've been through... to have it end like that is terrible. My own prayer is that you overcome this like you've done everything else, and that it makes you stronger. You are a wonderful person, and while I can understand culture differences, it doesn't make the situation suck any less. My thoughts and prayers are continuing to stay with you, and I hope life's small blessings help you through this rough patch.

  5. Hope everyone had a great first Christmas together!

We enjoyed our first Christmas together, and spent most of it hunting for a new co-sponsor. My grandpa decided to tell us yesterday that he didn't know if he wanted to be our co-sponsor. Christmas? Of all days? REALLY? Oy. We're just waiting to hear back from my sister and her fiance about how much they make, and if they make enough, we'll use them. I'm really hoping they do, because we don't have anyone else. Other than all that drama, yesterday was wonderful.

Krystle - I've been popping in here, and I did see what you posted about your little one, and I've been trying to think of what to say, but have fallen short. Guess all I can do is echo what has been said by others already, and I'll keep you all in my prayers that it turns out differently. Either way, I do believe that you will have the strength, no matter what the situation is, to persevere and come out stronger than you were before.

Kayla - How'd the job interview goooo???? lol Any news?

I hope you all are doing well otherwise. I can't wait to get the whole AOS thing done at the end of January. I'm ready for it! Take care everyone!

  6. We'll definitely have to do that!

We're leaving monday at 1:20 and we'll be in Cedar Rapids by 4:30 and then we're leaving back out at 5pm the next day. I looked over the weather and it's supposed to be fairly calm so lets just hope it stays that way. We've still got 5 to 6 inches on the ground here. :(

Okay, just to let you both know, we're under a blizzard warning right now, and it's supposed to stick around until tomorrow morning. I'm not sure what Cedar Rapids looks like right now, but if I know Iowa, the weather is going to suck all throughout the week. If you're going to be driving in CR, just be careful. I'd hate for anything bad to happen to you!!! Hopefully *FINGERS CROSSED* the weather clears up before you travel.

    GOOD LUCK WITH THE INTERVIEW!!!

  7. Mathew's interview went great, and he got his invitation to go to Iowa for an on-site interview! Things are finally starting to look up for us, I just hope the good luck continues and he lands this job.

Well, hopefully he gets into Cedar Rapids and out before any major snow storms. We are supposed to get a few inches over the next few days, but I don't think it's anything considerable. I'm so happy for you both, and hey, if you move here, maybe we could get coffee sometime! :) Good luck!! :D

  8. I just asked him about those websites and he says he's been using them but I've only ever seen him use Indeed.

He actually called Rockwell Collins yesterday about an app he put in and the lady said he was still in the running for it and that it all looked good so he'll probably get an interview call soon. I hope! This one is in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Cedar Rapids is GORGEOUS!!! Just make sure you get a place that isn't by any major source of water, though. It tends to flood out here in the summer. Don't let that discourage you, though!!! :]

  9. You don't get you DL right away??

We used to, but now it's this central issuance type system. They punch a hole in your old card, give you a printed off copy of your new one, and mail you the new one (HOPEFULLY) within 21 days. It's a bit ridiculous if you ask me. You're right, though - normally, that's not something I want to hear, but it's okay. Whether I realize it or not, it does help to hear that every now and then. Things are looking up a little bit more now, and I've been pretty upbeat the last few days. I'm hoping it sticks around for a bit, hehe.

  10. I'm not sure which job you were thinking of applying for, but the company is great.

Just a Part Time retail sales consultant, at least for now. My schedule opens up a bit next semester (3 night classes and random classes on tues/thurs) so working would be a little bit better come that time, lol. (At least I think, anyways) I'm going to go into the store upstairs from my work - which is actually the one I got my phone from - and see what the lady says. I finished the application and submitted it, but didn't do the follow up stuff, so maybe they still have my application somewhere, haha.

As for Christmas, well... not really sure what we're doing, simply due to lack of funds and what have you. We're just working on surviving day to day... but tomorrow is our 5 year anniversary, haha, so we're going to hole up and watch a movie together or something. :D

  11. Kayla, you aren't the only one wondering if you should have moved to Canada instead of him moving down here. I've been having those thoughts a LOT lately, and it's come to a point where we've decided to go through with the 2 year GC, but at the end of the 2 years, we'll be making our final decision between Canada and the US. He had a pretty decent and stable job up there (by no means the greatest, of course, but better than my pathetic excuse of a "job" down here) and so it's been pretty difficult to admit that maybe we should have thought this out better. Then again, I didn't think things would get as bad as they have. We're so VERY lucky to be living with my parents right now, rent free, but daily survival is getting tougher, simply due to my stupid lack of money. I'm still hunting for better jobs, of course. What's interesting is that I thought about applying at AT&T (they are hiring like MAD here) but when I went to do the application, they talked about all the training/possible traveling for said training, and with school, that's something that I wouldn't be able to do.. so it was back to the drawing board.

I suppose the good news is that I'm almost done with the whole name changing process. I have my new SS card, and am now just waiting for my new DL to show up in the mail. It feels a little weird signing something different, but it's kind of fun, too, hehe.

I hope you all are doing well.

  12. Good news from Niagara Falls this morning: Our license was returned to them! Turns out they wrote our address on the envelope wrong, so they are going to send it back out today! YAY!

Jenn - glad you're back safe, and I'm sorry that the trip wasn't 100% agreeable with you

Krystle - Aww, I hope the nausea subsides enough to where it's tolerable, if not completely, at least. I'm sure you only wish it was go completely... I wish I had more advice, but maybe try nibbling on some saltine crackers? That's what I'm told to do when I've got it... but I don't know if the same rules apply to sickness nausea and pregnancy nausea.. Sorry. :(

  13. Update from us: We decided not to risk it, so we started calling around to the CS in our area. Most places wanted $200 or more, because they "don't do just the transcribing" and he "had to have another medical". RIDICULOUS! Luckily, one of the places he called will do it for $10, and his appointment is in 2 weeks. PHEW.

  14. Alrighty, so my husband and I were finally married on October 10th, and we're getting things together for AOS. I was looking through all of our paperwork, and I'm curious about the "Vaccination Documentation Medical Worksheet Two" (title of the form) that he received from Dr. Seidan's. Nowhere on it states that it is the DS-3025 that we're supposed to include, so I'm just wondering if this is it, or if we need to take this somewhere else and have it transcribed. He's 100% current on any and all shots he needs for immigration, and this form appears to be filled out with dates and/or "not age appropriate", but I definitely do NOT want a RFE. We also have his shot record booklet thing that's been filled out completely, too. I'm hoping that those who have gone through Dr. Seidan's will know which form I'm talking about and be able to answer...

    Thank you in advance! <3

  15. Broke down and called the City Clerk's office in Niagara Falls today. They told me that our license was mailed out on the 13th, and we should have gotten it by now, and that if we don't get it in another week or so, we can mail them $10 and they will send us another copy through the mail, so it can just get lost again. Well, they didn't say that last part, but that's probably how it will work, knowing my luck. UGH. Oh, and I'm waiting to hear back from the place we went through about the status of our wedding pictures, which aren't here, either.

Having the wedding in Niagara Falls was supposed to make everything better, but it didn't. :( I think I'm going to go back to bed now. Running off 2 hours of sleep, and crying for about a half hour has completely depleted my energy level. :(

I hope you all are having a better day than I am!

  16. Oh my goodness! So, apparently, Matt's parents are going to help us with AOS so we can get it done sooner than January! :o I have a little question for you ladies - did you apply for his AOS in your maiden name, or did you wait until your last name was changed to file it? I haven't glanced at the application yet, but am just assuming that my information will need to be on there, too, so I was wondering. We're actually still waiting for our marriage license to show up from New York (and our wedding pictures, too!!! GRRRR!) so we can't really do anything until that decides to get here. I'm hoping it will show up this week; they said 2 weeks. If it's not here by next Monday then I fully intend on contacting Niagara Falls city hall and finding out what's going on.

I hope you all are doing well!

  17. I feel like a complete dolt right now. So worried about aos that i spaced off the rest of my post...

Jenn, i am soooo so happy for you and your health! I will continue to pray that things stay positive and good for you!

Krystle, i hope you and your hubby have a safe trip!

Please remember that you are all special, and i wish you all the brightest and happiest of days! I would probably have gone insane by now without you all!! Thank you for everything!

  18. We know Frenzy won't have it yet ( looks like she's choosing to be last with everything :) )

We tried to get a loan to cover the costs so we can do AOS now, at least until we got the money in January, but unfortunately, it would seem that I have the crappiest credit known to mankind. I don't have any credit cards or anything like that, but yet my credit sucks too much and I'm too new to my job for anyone to trust it. *sigh* So we're stuck waiting until January. I don't like this whole non-status thing with him. I'm so worried he'll get deported or something.

  19. somehow I pictures frenzys eventual "wedding night" being like two cats on a hot tin roof. ;)

    LOL.

    Yay for his GC, though!

We've been trying to come up with the money for AOS sooner than January, and it seems like everywhere we go is just a brick wall. Can't get a credit card, can't get a personal loan.... brick wall after brick wall, and all the while I just feel like beating my head into it. Sigh. I've been feeling like the worst wife ever because of it, too... like I can't even take care of him or something like that, you know? I'm ready to pull my hair out. :(

I guess the good news is that I have a few more hours this week than I did last week... but still not enough to be considered great. At least my cell phone bill will be taken care of, lol...
