Update today - oath ceremony has been scheduled
Almost a year, and the end is now in sight. Hurrah!
-
Almost one year from filing, N-400 interview conducted today with recommendation for approval.
Now the wait for the oath.
Good luck, all.
-
Yep, I'm also in the ATL camp and finally, on 12/21, my case went from "FP appt scheduled" to "In line for interview". It's progress!

I had my interview on Nov 9th and in line for oath ceremony for the past 2 weeks. Are you done with your interview or still waiting for interview date?
Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled
We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number NBC**********, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.
Still waiting for interview. Stuck at FP notice. I have a feeling there's a while to go yet.

Still "FP Appt Scheduled"... ATL field office.

Still "FP Appt scheduled" here; ATL field office. *sigh*

Our local field office is Washington DC (Fairfax VA).
After researching a bit last night, it seems that our online status should have changed to "In Line for An Interview" quite a while ago. 7 months is too long for that step. I tried to submit a service request online, but was denied due to the N-400 processing time for that office still being November 2016, while we filed in February 2017.
We are planning on calling on Monday/Tuesday and then scheduling an infopass appointment if the call doesn't help.
Any other suggestions as to what to do?
Same here, ATL office. Filed Feb 14, biometrics on March 12, and online status still shows "FP appt scheduled".
I think this gets categorized under the infamous name check delay. But who knows just yet.

I'm in the same boat and traveling out of country for 10 days around Thanksgiving holidays. Hope I don't get an interview date around that time.
So much uncertainty! Glad to know I'm not alone, though. Hopefully the timing works well for you.

Hi guys any update for oath for atlanta folks who have been done with interview, I had a interview on september 8th since then I didn't hear from them.
Wow 😲 good for you. I'm in ATL and still in the "FP appointment was scheduled" zone.
Hopefully you hear something soon.
-
ATL office here - FP appt scheduled since 3/2; actual FP appt occurred 3/15, no movement since then.
-
Still no movement here in the ATL. Still in the "FP appt scheduled" limbo since 3/1.
*Sigh*

ATLANTA, any movement in the southeast?
It's a standstill here. 😞

If this is any consolation, I'm in NYC and I'm still in "FP Scheduled" status...(FP 3/28).
Does make me a little better! Haha.
Trying not to think about it.

Same here... FP completed 3/2, no visible progress since then... I guess we'll just have to patient...;)
Good to know we're in the same position! I think we have some waiting to do yet!

Yep, same situation here. Filed under the 5 year rule, FP completed 3/3, still says FP scheduled :). There have been many instances in ATL where the status does not necessarily update to "in line" and you just get your interview letter...
Thanks for the reply! Good to know others are experiencing this.
I will be sure to update when things show signs of moving along.

Anyone going thru ATL and moving at a snails pace?
I filed February 12, for anniversary date of May 14, and I had fingerprints taken mid-March. The case tracker still shows "we scheduled your fingerprinting".
Is this slow pace typical of other ATL filers?

For those of you undergoing DCF, I have updated my timeline. I had my Visa approved this morning at the Embassy.
Good luck to y'all!!

Hi, Irene,
Your story is similar to mine (see: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/477012-current-i-130visa-timelines-london/), except in London. My wife and I too returned to Europe in expectation of a longer stay, but we have decided to return to the USA not 10 months after being in the UK.
Good luck with your journey!

Hi there,
Yes - I did not file for Naturalization prior to leaving the USA and even though we have significant US ties, it would not be possible to reasonably convince any immigration authority that I did not "abandon the intention to permanently reside in the USA". I took a job in the UK and quite frankly envisioned that we would stay much longer than we have. Not knowing this in advance, I abandoned my GC to comply with the law.
We've decided that the USA is the place we call home and have to bite the bullet and go through the DCF route, but this was not outside the realm of expectation.
Re-entry permits are generally issued (to the best of my knowledge) where out-of-the-ordinary circumstances arise that cause a LPR to be outside of the USA for a long period of time, and are granted prior authorization to re-enter without major scrutiny. If said circumstances don't exist, it is much easier and more cost-effective to re-file for IR/I-551 via DCF than pay an attorney to plead for something realistically outside of entitlement. Know the boundaries and live within them for fairly predictable results and less financial risk.
With 20/20 hindsight, it would've been better to have naturalized given the short duration of our UK stay, but we weren't to know it was going to be such a brief stay. After careful consideration, we deem the USA to truly be home to us, and it took us a brief re-visit to the motherland to show us that.
I hope your visa-journey is progressing smoothly!
Cheers..

Hi, London DCF folks,
Previous GC holder here; was inches away from N-400 process before having to return to the UK and unable to maintain PR status. Expected to be in the UK longer than we have but we're looking to head back to the sweet South, y'all!
Not sure if anyone knows of anyone with experience of filing DCF after previous GC abandonment, but that's the boat we're in and hopefully I can share a successful story with y'all.
Cheers,
Mister Jeeves!
