  1. moved from K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures to K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports

timeline oriented, not seeking k-1 advice.

I am glad to see a lot of you getting fast turnaround time VSC I hope some of the CSC people get it too bu t just not me. My fiencee is in school till may of 2010 and I just sent in our I-129f last week to CSC. I would like to get it all over with but if they go too fast we will just have to hold it up at the embassy. I just wish my name would go up on Igors list it keeps going down. well good luck to all

  2. Hello every one, This would be Tom without Judy on this post. I have sad news,

Judy has decided not to go to the interview. This comes as a shock to me, but to some of you saw this coming.

Her reason is simple, One of her past boyfriends came back. And to keep it short. Money was involved.

She still wants to be friends. I still do talk to her.

But she is telling me now that I have to wait 2 years before I can file another Petition for someone else.

And for her it's 6 months for someone to file a petition on her behalf......IS THIS TRUE?

My orignal posts were under the name of Hoping2..

    Tom

I am not sure sence you didnt get the visa but if you had received the visa you have to wait 2 years or get a waiver. as for the 6 months for her I dont know on that one. do you have someone else in mind already? If not 2 years will go by fast if you are starting over with a new GF. Sorry about the bad new and good luck on the future!

    PET PEEVE -

What "Date I-129F NOA1 (Receipt)" means is not the date you receive your NOA1 in the mail,

but the date when the Service Center receives/acts on I-129F form & sends the I-797C receipt

    to you.

Timeline instructions (for NOA1) might be amended to say:

    "Date printed on I-129F receipt {I-797C (NOA1)}"

In most actions (taking weeks or months), the difference between the date printed on the receipt and the

date you get it in the mail is not that great (days), but in the case of the NOA1 (a step that often takes

two-three days), the resulting stats may be distorted because the mail may take a week or more

    to deliver it.

We can celebrate the mail receipt date in our profiles (no harm in that) but for the database it should

be kept simple & consistent since mail delivery times vary. There is only one date when the Service Center

does the job and gets it out the door. That measures the efficiency of the USCIS or Department of State

    rather than the USPS.

    ALSO -

In giving congratulations, check that the OP has updated his/her timeline.

It's not polite to fellow members to come out there screaming "I did it, I did it"

and not updating your TL (or not even having a TL for your friends to see).

hey my pet peeve is that no one writes a review of the embassy after there appointment. To me this would be more helpful to know what questions are ask how hard they are, how long it takes, ect ect. timelines can only help us predict and no one can be sure how long anything will take but reviews can be a great help later to know what things to need or study but i understand after you get your visa at the embassy who wants to go write about it you just want to party!

  4. So, I have been reading a bunch of forums lately and I keep seeing people write how they put their petition information in binders and 2 hole punched then at the top, with tabs on each section of information.. "as USCIS suggested."

    ???

I followed the VJ guidelines and never saw anything that said to two hole punch, tab sections or put in a binder. So.. I didn't do that. Everything was neatly submitted, and each section was binder clipped together but I do not do all the little "extras" other people are talking about.

Now, after reading peoples posts, I have gone back through all the guidelines on VJ and don't see it.. so I checked out the USCIS page and did find someplace where they wrote "this is appreciated."

Well, I am sure they don't appreciate me not doing it :)

Just wondering if any of the other September filers didn't see this handy little "suggestion" before they sent off their packets?

I will probably get placed at the bottom of a pile, because they won't want to have do to all the hole punching and binding.. but HEY.. at least I signed that darn form and they accepted the package :)

Hey I didnt put mine in a binder or 2 hole punch it. I read someware not to put in binder they will just take it out and trash it. I would have 2 hole punched it if I had a 2 hole punch but why spend money on this I think for $455 they can punch it themself as for the Tab sections I did this to my copy but again I read someware where they cut them off sso I didnt do it. Just put in envelope and mailed it off so dont worry I will be on the bottom of the pile with you!

  5. After dealing with Western Union and MoneyGram I found they are way too expensive. Go to WalMart (or go online even) and get a WalMart Green Dot card. Get 2 cards - One in the US citizens name (so it's easy to put money on the card (only $3) and one in the foreign Fiancee name. The Finacee can use the ATM (extra $3 per use though) use it like a credit / debit card, pay for Visa fees, medical exam fees and do everything without any fuss. You can get a daily SMS or e-mail with the balance. Once the card arrives in e-mail send to fiance, put money on it by just stopping by WalMart. I found this is a lot cheaper (for the 6 or so months while we're working though the Visa process) and more convenient than using WU or MG.

    Hope this helps!

(Just finished medical exam and interview on Oct 8th! Woohoo - almost here!)

    Chuck and Rhean

I did the same thing with a bank ATM card. I opened a a different account at my bank and mailed my fience the atm card. now i can transfer money to her account online and she just goes to any Atm to take it out there is a fee for using a out of network TM but it is cheep compaird to WU

  6. Does anyone know why the embassy in the philippines does not send out the Forms and Checklist sent to foreign Beneficiary (Fiance/e). (packet 3) anymore ? I called the embassy last night to see if they have recieved our case and they did but i was waiting for them to send something to my fiance. So if you were waiting , dont because they changed this process. This should also be changed on the visa journeys flow chart. Thanks

form what I hear some Embassy send a packet 3 some do not. I guess that is how they save moneyby making you download it and return but the good thing is you can download it early and have everything completed before the embassy get it so this will speed it up.

  7. I just received my docs I have been waiting for from my Fience so I have spent the morning organizing my packet and thenn off to get copys!!!! after a few days of review and letting my friend proof read it it will be in the mail I have to wait till next wed that is my next day off work when I can mail it out!!! I cant wait to get this thing out of my hands!!!!!!! good luck to all on a speedy process

  8. I like this one!!!

Seattle2Cebu has been posting for a while on both VJ and also on livingincebu.com. He's a real piece of work. His "advice" is all over the map, and he constantly airs his dirty laundry online. For example:

    > He's had two failed K-1 relationships involving Filipinas, and another failed marriage.

    > Was diagnosed bipolar and is off his medication.

    > Has anger-management issues that he does not get treatment for.

    > Was arrested in Washington State and given a deferred prosecution for domestic violence, which involved "spanking his children".

    > Left his children with their grandparents in Texas.

    > Was fired from his call center job in Washington State.

    > Moved to Cebu with about $1000. to his name (and no income stream), and blew through it in two weeks.

    > Loves to play poker and gamble online.

    > Has diabetes (which he neglects).

    > Has erectile disfunction.

    > Almost lost his leg to infection while in Cebu (not THAT leg).

    > He's 50 and has taken up in Cebu with a 17-year-old Cebuana who doesn't speak English and has a fourth or fifth-grade education.

    > Got angry at his fiancée in Cebu and nearly tore down her aunt's house...injuring himself in the process.

    > Was basically broke and homeless in Cebu.

    > Begged for money on VJ and on other online sites.

    > Advocates that you put a key-logger on your computer to monitor your significant other.

    > Is now renting a house using school loans from his online Bible-studies course.

    > Is engaged to be married to a 17-year-old Cebuana who he calls (at different times) his wife, his joke-wife, his fiancée, his so-called wife, or his girlfriend.

    > Was planning their wedding for 250+ people in Cebu when he was broke.

Would you take advice from this guy?

    What a catch!

    OH SNAP!

  9. I did the only smart thing that there is to do. I got a job at the post office 6 months before I filed then I hand walked it thru put it on a truck and drove it to the CA service center myself. I was still worried so I sent it reges. mail with delivery conformation. I had it in a box the kind that you get copy paper in because it was over 5000 pages my cover letter was almost 80 pages. Then i used ratchet strapes and bungie cords to put it on a hand cart. I have been waiting for my NOA2 for almost 4 years now but I think today is the day!!! I hope that this helps. Just kidding I will file next week and I dont know what I will send it in yet.

  10. I don't know if any of you know about this, maybe I just missed it OR its not true however, I was reading a book at the library about "fiance and Marriage visas" and in the K-1 section this immigration lawyer writes "To try to speed the transfer of your USCIS file to a U.S. consulate, some couples have had luck by faxing a copy of their approval notice directly to the consulate. The consulate may then open a file for you, the immigrating fiance, and send the appropriate follow-up paperwork. Not all consulates will do this but it's worth a try. Of course, the consulate will not give final approval to your fiance visa until they've received official confirmation from the NVC-but by that time you'll hopefully be close to your interview date." Has anyone tried this?

    Frank

well you can speed it up if you go on the embassy wesite a lot of embassys have all the forms and docs there for you to print out a packet 3 and or packet 4 so you dont even need to fax them.

  11. wow looks like I started a fire. Thanks for all the help I agree and the only rason I ask the question was so many people ask about getting married in other counrtys but are told not to because it is a legal marrage but in Thailand a wedding is not legal usless reg. so I was thinking that it was different. I would never do anything to risk my Fiancee coming hear and bgeing together but I know a wedding is importain to her and her family so that is why I want it. I would never lie about it if ask point blank at the POE did you have a wedding and not reg it in Thailand I would tell them yes but Idont think they would ask this in a million yyears. I think some people only see in Black and white when most of us live in some shade of gray and this is a gray area I think the embassy is aware of it and really dont care well once again thanks for all the help and good luck to all of you!!!

  12. Ok so I just went on the US embassy Bangkok website and was looking at packet 3 and 4 info and here is what it said

SPECIAL NOTE FOR K1 VISA APPLICANTS

Do not marry your petitioner before you have received your visa and traveled to the United

States. The law requires K1 visa applicants to remain legally free to marry throughout the process. If

you get married, even to your fiancé (e), your petition will be cancelled and cannot be reinstated. If

you get married, your petitioner must file a new petition, and you must start your case from the

    beginning.

As I read it it says You must remain LEGALLY free to marry and we still will be as it is not a legal marrage I know everone can inturpet it differently. Also it says all documents must be in english OR Thai if not you must have them translated is this True? has anyone turned in a Thai birth cert or other doc to the Bangkok embassy with out a translation and it passed? I am not trying to take any chances so I will have all docs translated but maybe they dont need to be?
