  1. ... So people have updated their timeline and it now looks like September is approved at 18%.

    yay!

Hope they crank it out this week.

Yea now I am looking forward to CSC cranking them out!! I just finished all of packet 3 and 4 docs so I can mail them to Sa this week with her christmas present!! wow it feels good to have it all ready to go! now we just have to wait till time to send it to the embassy.

  2. To everyone, this is a difficult process. First of all, the reason we are in this situation is that the person we love is not next door. Secondly, we are trying to keep relationship momentum going when there is so much distance, time, and understanding between us and the ones we love, thirdly, we fight this battle alone. Our friends and family support us, of course, but still the questions come, why not...., this whole process sucks because the government arbitrates who we love and how we can be with the ones we love.

If there is not a problem being faced by people seperated by the processing centers and distance then I suggest that there is not enough honesty in the relationship. This is hard. No question. And that is why this site is so valuable. We are not alone. I do think that if we make it through this process, think of how much stonger we will be together. God Bless all of you.

WORD! I think the hammer hit the nail on that one very nice way to put it! good luck to all.

  3. well I just got told by my man that if I continue to party with my girlfriends I won't have a husband in 6 months (this is guy who is a nightclub promoter in vegas and gets paid to host and party with girls 4 nights a week)....I mean what does he expect me to do on the weekends sit at home and watch dvds...not cool at all...

I always find it funny when people want the person they are with to change who they were when you met. I've been in that spot before...be cautious. If you have always gone out with your girlfriends then why would it now be a problem?

... yeah... Im never a fan of double standards either.

especially when these will be last few months in australia forever, no naturally I want to enjoy the time I have left with my friends..ahh the joys of a long distance relationship..i will be so happy when I never have to have this added stress in a relationship ever again..COME ON CSC! ha

well I hate to see anyone having problems but it does make me feel better that we are not the only ones. I hope it all works out for all of us only time will tell. all of the stress of this visa stuff and wedding planning then you throw in LDR and differents in cultures and wow its a lot good luck to me and everyone else!! No lets get some good news next week come on CSC!!!

  4. i'm american. me and my thai girl registered married(?) with the thai goverment, which i understand counts as a legal marriage in the states.

but we'd like to get married in the church here in the states, and register the marriage here in the states.

    can i get a k-1 visa?

we don't want to live here anytime soon. she takes care of her mother and teen daughter- couldn't leave them behind. so we won't be needing k-3 and all that for a long time. but i do want her to meet the family here, and have my family enjoy the wedding.

did we screw up getting a k-1 by registering with thai goverment?

yea if you regersterd your marrage in Thailand you can not do a K1 you have to go K3 or I think it is a CR1. some of the others on here can tell you the best way to go

  5. Well my fience is Thai and in Thailand you can have a wedding party and not regester the marrage it is very common so we will do that with a big party and all there for her family and friends ( beside wedding are nice but it is more for the girl than the guys IMO) I am hoping that her visa is done then and she will be able to come back here with me but if not we will have to wait. Then our legal marrage will take place in the 90 day time frame in our backyard. I found something cool and here in my county in CA you can take a 45min class and you are certified to marry 1 couple on 1 day so one of my friend will preform the marrage in the backyard with my family and a few close friends and then we will just BBQ some steaks!! Nice and easy my kind of wedding.

That is if we can get that far. I am stressing about this visa stuff and now my girl is mad at me about something I am not really sure what but I think she will cool off in a day or so. I really think she is stressing over planning the wedding there and trying to make her parents and family happy and proud. I am trying to be understanding and give her some space. Like I said weddings are girls things we(guys) are just there for the ride so I am going along with whatever she wants as long as we can afford it but damm sometimes I dont understand women ( most of the time)! Sorry to get off topic I needed to vent a little and I hope I didnt upset anyone.

  6. Does anyone know how to measure for a Thai wedding suit? My Fience is worried that I will not have time to get my wedding suit altered when I arive before our wedding. She ask me to send her my mesurements so she can have the Tailor prepair it. Can I just go to a tailor here and have them take my mesurments then convert them to metric and send that to her? I hope it is that simple but most things are not. Thanks for any help from those in the know.

  7. Hi all, I am just thinking ahead here. Our 129F is still at CSC but we should be approved I am hoping in Dec. I am trying to make sure our K1 visa is done by May when I come. I have downloaded all the docs from the embassy website and will be compleating them in the next month so they are ready to go. My question is can you turn in your packet 3 before they mail it to you? I can track my app from NVC to the Bangkok embassy and download al the forms before so after the embassy has it can I just send in a completed packet 3 or should I wait for the embassy to mail it to us and then send it in? One more quick ? how long from the time you turn in packet 3 and 4 till the interview? I see different embassy have different times from a few weeks to 5 months so does anyone know how long Bangkok is running now? Thanks for all the help everyone

    Hi BC75,

Yes, you can send in Packet 3 stuff as soon as you have your case # and are sure that the embassy has your case. I'll explain how I know this later tonight when I'm not so pressed for time. (I'm actually on my way to the post office to send my baby the I-134 and other doc's she needs to send in packet 3 for us!)

Re: the wait times between sending in packet 3 and your interview date, the most current info I have is not so great. Per usvisa4thai, One woman sent in her packet on November 20 and her interview was scheduled for December 17. This really sucks because earlier in the month people were getting their interviews only 10 or so days after sending in packet 3. I'm still holding out hope that my fiancée gets her interview and visa in time to make it here by Christmas, though.

Good luck and thanks to all that have contributed to this excellent thread!!

    Erich

Hey thanks for the info I hope you can make your christmas timeframe I just hope that we can make it thru CSC before christmas maybe NVC would be nice. anyway good luck!!

  8. Hi all,

I have a bit of a complicated situation, and I was hoping that I could find some answers here that the people at CIS were not very helpful at answering.

My fiance is currently in the United States on an H1-B Visa. She is Korean. At the beginning of December, I will be leaving to Korea, and she will be remaining here to work. I will be in Korea up until around July next year, and will be starting Law School in August in a different state than the one in which we live. Due to current circumstances, we feel it is best to wait before an actual marriage (I need to meet her family first.)

My fiance is not planning on working at her current position until the end of next July (she works in the finance industry, and hates it), but will likely be coming to Korea sometime around next May. We would prefer to get married in Hawaii, because it's halfway for both families.

So, my question is, how do I go about getting my fiance into the country (either after we've married in Korea, or in order to get married in the United States) by August (once she's in Korea in May). Once she comes to Korea, she'll lose her H1-B visa, and so we'll have to file for either a K-1 or a K-3. From what I've read, the K-1 takes less time, but from May - August is only 3 months, which possibly is not enough time to get everything processed. We'd like to get married before I start law school, otherwise I'm going to have to either come back alone and wait for her, or postpone law school for a year and continue to work in Korea, which we don't want.

Can we file a petition for a K-1 visa now in anticipation of her quitting her job and being in Korea in May to finish the process? Or would this be considered fraudulently filing for a visa? Or would there be some restriction on her filing for a K-1 while she already has an H1-B? (Or would USCIS get confused? I called and spoke with them, and the rep kept asking me "Why would she want to file for a k-1 if she already has an H1-B?" and even though I tried to explain the situation, he just could not understand).

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Please ask any follow up questions.

why not get married now with a JP and then file for a CR-1 and you can have a nice party in HI when the time is right?
