  1. I keep taking photos of the right side confederate jasmine, but I also have one on the left - and the flowers are yellow and it has a completely different fragrance - carolina jasmine maybe? There is also something underneath the jasmine in the above pic, it flowers orange, but I am unsure what it is. I think I have a picture of it alone I took last year.

ETA: hrm.. maybe not carolina. its only slightly yellow.

  2. The red ones are all gone, but now we have these amaryllis in bloom

and the confederate jasmine is in bloom as well. I have two that cover almost the entire back fence.

Both taken through the screen, so terrible quality tongue.png (the white line through the jasmine is the pool enclosure :\)

  3. Why would someone be given AP that had a 5 year B2 and records as a student years ago? If its just a name check, they've had plenty of time and opportunity... Idk... doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me why name checks take years in some cases. I just don't believe thats all there is to it.

My husband had a 5 year B1/B2 at the time of our filing, obtained when living in Egypt. He had 8 months of AP post K1 interview. It just isn't the same process. He probably entered the US 2 dozen times in that time period. It just isn't the same when one is immigrating vs. here temporarily for any reason.

  4. We just had landscaping installed along our fence (we have a privacy issue with the neighbor dogs poking their entire heads through the fence and barking at us even when we are inside the house). We have a row of sweet viburnum and a semi-circle of azaleas. Had to relocate the shrimp plant and it is very angry at me for doing so. Hopefully though the viburnum gets all hedgey so those little white jerks can't see through anymore.

Oh! Adding my lemon tree is regaining life and has around 6 or 7 quarter sized lemons on it, and many more flowers about to bloom. I can't wait - they smell so good!

  5. my question is why on earth they said that we were approved and didn't mention AP ? even the paper doesn't say anything about the AP and all the documents was complete they didn't request any, I'm very frustrated about them

*everyone* gets AP - not just MENA people. absolutely everyone applying for a visa. regardless, it's a given that in most cases for MENA it takes awhile to have visa in hand after the interview.

  6. I don't know how well it will grow really, it's more of a pinterest gimicky "YOU CAN PLANT BUTTS OF ALL THE THINGS AND REGROW THEM!". So I just stuck it in a teacup.

Wait, what is this awesome violet teacup that I have never seen beforeeee?

um.. yeah! actually it came with the house, I have no idea what sort of thing was growing it when we moved in, but they left it. and that little thing died.

  7. My celery has a leaf! This is about the extent of my growing at the moment. My meyer's lemon tree has decided to eat itself because IT SHOULDN'T BE 37* IN FLORIDA EVARRR. But it does has one huge lemon on it still cooking :P

oh and in the back right some of the amaryllis are blooming.

  8. Thanks so much for your reply and helpful information. I wonder about a few other things...how long did it take him to be able to have a fluent and easy conversation with other Americans, and also...somebody from Italy told me it took them 4 years to get their green card after marrying a legal US immigrant....and in the meantime, she couldn't work or get a driver's license. That doesn't sound right to me. Was your husband able to get a driver's license and work right away? Also, how long did it take him to make friends...and was he able to find people of his own kind in your city?

Depends on what the status of the "legal US immigrant" was (H1B maybe?) . It's entirely possible. Heck I am a USC and it took nearly 4 years for my husband to get his greencard based on his marriage to me. And as a result some things were a bit more of a hassle (license expired every year, etc). Of course this was back a few years ago now.

  9. I live in the US but I was born in Algeria. It would only make sense to have the wedding in Algeria since since both of our extended families are in Algeria. We would come back to the US after the wedding.

Why pursue the K1 then? Sounds like you want a tourist visa (which certainly isn't easy to get). Why not save yourself a whole lot of headache if you want to marry in Algeria - then do so, but if he comes on a K1 - and you decide to go to Algeria to marry - you will start all over again with a CR1. Is that what you mean to do?
