we are wondering how long does it take ? recent cases ?
Usually 2.5-3 months. Give it at least 4 or 5 before you begin to get worried.
-
how did you get these dates? Did NVC emailed you? Did they send a physical letter? Did the Consulate email/write you? Do I need to subscribe to some Alert Notification system somewhere?
Any insights/advise will be appreciated.
Thank y'all.
NVC eventually sent me a letter, but I had been calling daily after my NOA2 was received in the mail. They can let you know if it has been forwarded to the consulate if you call.

Ah! thank you very much! it was quite a concern of ours. can you tell me about your AOS experience?
I will PM you!

Hello , my Vjer's
I have a concerning question, my USC wife wants to become a theology professor at a university after she is done getting her PHD, and does not want to take my last name as her because of it. Will this be a problem at our AOS interview?
No, it shouldn't. It's not uncommon for professional women in the US to keep their name after marriage. My husband is the non-US Citizen and we had our AOS approved quickly even though I didn't change my name.

Hi folks!
If the approval date counts from the USCIS, he might not be able to come in October as planned!! How does one go about filing an extension on the approval?? We would only need to extend by about 2 weeks, as his trip is October 23-30 (exactly 4 months from now!)
Any help?? Suggestions???

When we went through this last year, we were able to wait before sending the Packet 3 documents back. We didn't because we wanted to be together ASAP. For people with other needs there are some things you can still do.
No need to file an extention. P3 won't be sent to your husband for another month and then you can delay sending it back. They will not set an interview until 6-8 weeks after the P3 is sent back. There are still a few things you have to do before you send that back.. get the police cert and the I134 paperwork, then schedule your medical after you send the P3 back to the embassy.
Edit: These timeframes are for the London Embassy only.

Any advice on what else we can provide at the moment?
Advice and help will be very appreciated.
Thanks.
If you kept any cards saying Congrats! regarding the wedding, take those. Any other wedding stuff showing close friends and family attended or are wishing you well would be great.

I'm unsure where the next closest office is... it's probably much too far away.
You can check Santa Ana. It is about 40 minutes from the LA office.

Does anyone know if you HAVE to have an appointment or can you just walk in?
There's been a stupid little screw up with my green card and I really would hate to have to wait till the 6th or 7th to get it fixed...
Can you make an infopass at any other office sooner?

My husband got called back after a phone interview. They want him to go in tomorrow and take an Excel test. He worked with Office 2003 at his last job, but this will be on 2007.
If all goes well at the test he will have a face-to-face interview with the local HR or managers. YAY!! I can't wait for him to have a job.
On the other hand.. it is nice coming home to clean laundry and the dishwasher running.

hello Shirorisu,
I am in the same pod. i filed in may as well.. it is more than 30 days. i went checked online and called phone #...it state that "Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283." i am also worried and taking this very seriously... visajourney memebers have told me to wait until 4 to 6 months for NOA2 and told me prepare other documents until i receive noa2.. please let me know what are your actions regarding this. i have not contacted anyone to take this further. see below for filed date.. i am gald to found u in the same situation however i dont know how to comfort us...
see link for my posting on this matter: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/262226-what-do-i-do-next/page__pid__4025034#entry4025034
i am hoping for the best.
rsan, The systems were down quite a bit in mid-May. My husband's GC is dated 5/13, there were card productions ordered on 5/17 and 5/21. The first we knew we were approved was 5/21 when I got a text (and email) telling me to check the site. It said card production ordered on 5/17.
My guess is that you and several others on VJ had their paperwork received during a time when the USCIS employees were not able to get everything linked in the customer login website. I would assume that they will correct the problem in 60-90 days when someone actually gets your file to review.
The situation sucks, but I just wanted to let you know that it is probably going to be ok. The only thing you can do is keep your NOA1 somewhere safe and take screenshots of the status issue so that you have a record of it.

Anyway, I checked the Step-by-Step Guide on How to File for a K-1 Visa for your Foreign Fiance(e)
and it seems like nothing has really changed. But my friend who just got her visa approved
said that there's already a new process. That one applying should file it online through
this site https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ . She have never tried it herself coz they filed it on Feb and
this new process according to her was just last May. It says "it will assist you in expediting the visa application process."
Is this optional? An authorized site? Has anyone of you tried this one?
It looks like a site to apply for a non-immigrant visa. I assume they mean student or tourist. For K-1, K-3, CR-1, etc. first the US Citizen in the relationship sends paperwork in and they perform background checks on the USC and possibly on the non-USC if they have lived in the country.
The K-1 approval on the I-129 at California and Vermont service centers means that the file can be sent to the embassy. When it is received by the embassy the non-USC submits the DS-156 and other Department of State paperwork.

Are there any cheaper ways of birth control?
Planned Parenthood is the cheapest option for me now that they took away the discounts available at student health clinic.
I still am having a hard time paying that and Nuvaring was giving me problems, so I am looking into NFP and FAM methods.. I can't commit to those quite yet because it seems so weird and hippish. I don't know many that practice those so it's hard to get a good idea of whether or not they work.

What is the USCIS number so I can check we are calling the same one?
They tell us they have our case (the people we call) but unlike most people on here we cannot see if it's been looked at, all they will tell us is that the case has been accepted.
I have done everything right with signing up for online updates and it still says case does not exist.
It's going to be ok then. If they say it is accepted then it is. There's other cases where they weren't able to see them online for up to 30 days. With K1, there is no risk you will lose status if you don't show up for a biometrics like there is with adjusting status or removing conditions.

I had a C-section for medical reasons - I would have preferred not to have had to if I could have given birth any other way - they didn't hold off for days though, just until it was the only option and they considered it risky for the baby to wait any longer. It would be surprising if a Dr chose to with hold required treatment but things do happen that way sometimes, unfortunately.
There are a LOT of reasons it'd be good to have a CSection. I'm not going to say anything bad to anyone that has to make the decision. I just wish doctors weren't so quick to try to speed things up. As long as we end up with cute and healthy babies, YAY!!!

In the UK this is true, it's not considered an option without some medical necessity being involved. In the US it's an elective procedure 'choice'. I don't get it personally - there are significant risks with all forms of delivery but why would one choose to have one's abdomen sliced, it's a procedure that cuts through muscle and deep tissue, that's not something I would voluntarily undertake for 'convenience'.
That's true. I don't like the attitude of doctors in the US. I went with a nurse midwife and had my only child in the hospital. Which is good because it was more than 3 weeks before the due date.
The bad part was at 8 pm I still hadnt gone into hard labor so she did *something* quite painful without warning me to make my labor go faster. Not a pleasant experience considering I went completely natural and just took Tylenol for labor pains. I even refused the IV because I didnt want anything invasive.
If I ever have another child it will be at home or in a birthing center if I make it past 37 weeks. I'm pretty sure I can talk a midwife friend into helping me do it with NO medical intervention next time. Which would work considering I live just a few blocks from a hospital.

Sounds stupid , but it varied.
I am Anglo Welsh. Generally I used UK but I remember when I had my Biometrics they had no UK option in their system, it had to be England???
Which must have pissed a lot of people off.
Citizenship is British.
It certainly would have pissed my husband off!

Men espousing views on others' birth plans are just ikky.
It's an interesting article. I've never met someone that's on the fence about which way to deliver their babies. I don't think most people choose CS unless they have some really fantastic reasons.

My fiance is Welsh. We are just beginning the process of paperwork and I am wondering if under 'country' if I should list Wales or UK? What has everyone else done in the past?
Thanks
On the paperwork you list London for embassy and the UK as country.

I arrived here on my K1 visa three weeks ago and recieved my Social Security card this morning. So, I went online to Bank of America to apply for the basic checking account. I wanted an account with them as my fiance has one with them too.
We got an offer in the mail for $100 credit if we opened an account and added direct deposit at CHASE! They didn't have much trouble, we just had to bring in UK passport, SS Card and 2 utility bills to show my husband's proof of address.
He walked into a local credit union yesterday and they told him he didn't qualify because he didn't live or work in Salt Lake County. He called me and I told him he does because a household member (me) does. All this was listed on their website as qualifications to open an account.
I was so mad because I thought they might have been b!tches to him due to him having an accent. So I left a very hot message on the branch manager's voicemail informing him that he better check into what is going on with his branch if the employees are turning away business so quickly.

Is this still happening to other May filers?
My husband is now complaining to the ombudsman. We were fobbed off and fobbed off, told it would take up to 30 days when many people who applied since had an instantaneous online status. Our online status is still that we are enquiring about a case that "does not exist." Since the 30 days are up, they are now telling up instead of it taking up to 30 days, that "it takes time."
Asd I said in my other thread I noticed that everyone who complained about lack of their file on the online system had got NOA1 on May 19th-21st. I'm very worried that a huge error has occurred with those dates.
Is this common? Will the ombudsman do anything?
Has the check been cashed? Which forms did you send in? Have you made sure the packet was complete and everything signed?

It's frustrating, annoying, and enough to drive me nuts on occassion. What's holding us up now? An incompetant police department who can't seem to get it together enough in a week to sign some damn photographs.
I thought that someone that has known you a long time was able to sign the photographs for the police cert?

My next ex-husband will be Robert Downey Jr. Messed up but HOT and rich,
I'm going to land a rich Australian if anything happens to my husband. I've already decided. Hubby knows it too. Horrible that I only like foreigners... but hey, it works for me!

This I agree with!! It is hard for someone to run a business and accept credit cards when the card processing companies charge for every little service they provide. The nickle and diming comes out of nowhere and some even have hefty cancellation fees in the $200-$500 range.
