  1. Well guys and gals, my interview date is 27 days away and of course the fee has to more than triple, however its bitter sweet for me as I kept on hoping and praying that i would not get an interview date before June 10 as i wanted to go to my friends weddind down in boston,so i can't be that upset, plus how many people are still waiting for a date. I am very anxious to get it over with. I think I have all my stuff ready and in order. I have the origianl and copy of everything below

    NOA2

    Interview date letter

    Passport

    Passport pics

    Birth certificate

    Divoce decree

    police report

    affidavit of support

letter from his employer and the 3 recent pay stubs

Letter of intent to marry me (do i need to do one up signed by myself aswell?)

evidence of domicile, cell phone bill and another utility bill

lots and lots of evidence, pics, airplane itineraries.

My medical is June 11 and i pick up the evelope the morning of the interview at 7 then run over to the consulate.

I am not taking the tax returns as he hasn't done his yet (i know he's late) and it says in the letter an example of evidence is tax returns, pay stubs etc. I think i wil lbe ok with this and i have everything ready to go.

Dont forget your Express post enveloppe and to write down your tracking number.

I dont think you need a letter of intent yourself, but I guess it doesnt take much time to write one up and then that's one less thing to worry about.

  2. When Jay flew into MTL i was hoping he'd get hassled a little ( is that wrong of me?) I think i have only gone through once where they didnt make me want to cry. As soon as he mentioned he was going to the US consulate the conversation was over. I'm just hoping my POE goes smoothly, i'm a big baby and dont take border crossing well. LOL.

Well, that is good to hear on Jennie. She said they have a ticket for the 30th of May i think.

I hope the POE goes well for you and me both! (providing I get approved first of course).

I always feel super nervous even though I shouldnt have any reason to.

Yeah... I got harassed at the border before and it's no fun. When I got denied entry, they frisked me and threatened to put me in jail for the night if I missed my flight home, and I was glad Matt was there to hear it, in some weird way. lol Kind of for him to see I wasnt exagerating when I was saying they made me feel like a criminal. He got hassled a little bit the first time he came to Montreal, but nothing that bad.

  3. Have you checked out ABF for moving your things instead? My fiance' found it was way cheaper than U-haul for even door to door moving (although we went with terminal to terminal since his terminal is about 5 minutes from his house and the terminal for me is about 20 minutes away and we could borrow some trucks on either end to get the stuff to the terminal. Just a thought, unless you really want to buy another vehicle for yourselves.

Yes, I did look into it initially. But since we'd both be flying + my dog, it makes more sense to us to get a van.

I love a good roatrip and we have places to stay on the way. :)

  4. i think if both can attend there is no better proof of your relationship than the person being there. Like i mentioned before they asked him more questions than me.

No one has heard from Jennie yet?

Bev, i have seen people call their congressperson and things seem to move much faster. If i were you i'd call the DOS this week and if they tell you the same thing I'd be calling the congressperson.

That's what I think too. And Matt has dealt with border officials with me before and it helped. I think he exhudes honesty!

I was curious about Jennie and saw she posted a question in the AOS forum mentioning she was moving to michigan in a few days... So I guess she was approved.

  5. There was a fee for the temp tag but nothing too serious. Also, Florida makes you pay for your home state taxes at their office, but Delaware does not have any taxes so we lucked out there. Also, since we flew down there to drive it back, the previous owner gave us a ride to DMV and stayed there while we obtained temp tag...just to make sure everything went ok. You'll be good...if you know what state you will buy new vehicle in, just call their local DMV and ask about their proceedures and costs.

Okay great! thanks for clarifying this for me! :)

  6. I'm confused.

He will go and register it correct? Do you mean he will have the temporary registration documents rather than the permanent ones?

If so, I can't see that being a problem. I'm sure it's different in every state but normally when you register your vehicle they give you the new plates on the spot and a temporary print out of title.

Hmph... Im confused too! I dont know exactly how it works in the U.S.

It would be a used vehicle purchased from an individual. He is telling me we wouldnt need to go get it registered right away. We would want to have it plated in Colorado, not Maine or Vt, where we are looking to buy.... So he is saying having the title and bill of sale would be enough. But I cant imagine driving around without somekind of temporary registration.

My husband (American) bought a camper (RV) last year in Florida and had a 'temp' tag or 'in transit' tag on it. We drove it directly from Florida to Canada for a vacation and had no problem entering Canada. He left two weeks later to head back to Delaware to register it. So you should have no problem crossing.

oh cool, thanks. That is pretty much our plan.

So how did he get the "in transit" tag?

  7. Hi,

My fiancé (USC) is visiting me right now, and we'd like to buy a van in Vermont or Maine to move my things to Colorado after the interview. We figure it makes more sense than the Uhaul rental (who want nearly 2500$) as he will be using the van for his business afterwards.

The question is, can he go buy a van in the States and enter Canada with an In transit plate (or whatever you call it...)?

He would have it insured right away, just no actual registration. Does anybody know if it could be an issue at the border?

  8. You must have seen where I said this: "I'm sure if Kevin had been with me he'd have talked the guy into approving the visa on the spot. NO ONE wins an argument with my man! Once we get married I'm getting him the dang waiver and never going anywhere without him again.. lol." tongue.gif

Sigh.. I miss him so much.

Yes! lol I have actually quoted you to him! laughing.gif

Im sure it really sucks right now and Id be depressed too, but once you guys are finally together again, that extra wait wont matter anymore.

  9. I was quite shocked to see it had been accepted at mtl post office Friday morning. I didnt expect it but it was a nice surprise, now that Monday is a holiday though.. i may have to wait until Tuesday/Wednesday... which is okay because i am not heading straight home. I'm still in Ottawa with Jay ( last few hours together for a couple weeks) and some friends then i am off for a few days with another friend before i return home. It wont be long, it's hard to believe that this huge road block is over!! (:

I bet, but like everyone seems to say it's really painless. Is Matt going to be there, too? I think they asked Jay more questions than they asked me. Which is fine because i was just holding my sh!t together. Then when she said she was happy to approve us it was a huge release of tension.

that's awesome. What a great way to distract yourself while you are waiting for your visa too.

Yeah... I hope it is painless for me too. Matt wasnt sure he was going to be there for the interview, but Im not giving him a choice! ;) He is great in that sort of situations whereas I get super nervous and frazzled. I hope they ask him all the questions! Hearing about kevbev's story makes me nervous too... you just never know.

I would make sure you have $350 just in case. I put the link in the June thread.

    Yes, of course we will.

But I dont think it would be right. Not everybody is on VJ or stalking the DOS website. It isnt even on the Montreal consulate website.

  10. Sorry, I haven't been on here much, kind of depressed to be the only one not approved. I did call DoS last Wed (after a week) and they just said, everything is in order but they're still processing it. I check my xpress tracking number several times a day.

I have been at my parents' house since we left Montreal, I addressed the envelope here expecting to get it quickly but now I feel like I've outstayed my welcome. Don't wanna go home.. my living situation was pretty bad and I already said goodbye to everyone. Kevin keeps telling me, just hang in there, it will come soon. Sucks that tomorrow's a holiday and an extra day of not knowing. Should I even bother trying to email the consulate? Running outta options at the moment. sad.gif

Im sorry this is happening. I keep checking to see if you have gotten any news.

I hope this gets resolved very soon for you. It just sucks to be in limbo once again.

  11. Where did you see that exactly? When is it gonna increase? Not by my interview on june 1st i hope?? blink.gif

there is a thread about it on the K1 progress forum.

You're good for sure, as it takes effect on june 4th.

I have my interview on june 14th, so Im not sure what will happen. :( grrrr.

Im thinking I might be ok, since it says 131$ on my interview letter. It wouldnt be fair to say I owe 350$ when I show up if they have told me it was 131$ already.

The wording is funny, t could mean when we apply, at the interview, or when we apply, thruoght the ds-160 form.

So I'll be curious to see what happens after the 4th....

  12. and it looks like my xpresspost mailer went out today!

    That's awesome! That is soon!!

So in a little over a month you will be Mrs. Jay ;) ... cant wait to hear more about it!

Interview is now in about 3 weeks... getting pretty nervous!

  13. Thanks! Ohmy, you wouldnt believe what a high i have been on since then. It'll be your turn soon.

Hehe! I can only imagine!! I hope you guys celebrated properly!

what's your plan now? when are you POEing?

Congrats to everybody else who got approved!

Yes, did anybody hear of Jennie1921?

    KevBev, any news?

  14. Hey guys anyone know if there is a storage locker or something were i can put my purse and cell phone while im having my interview. I am staying at by friends place the night before then walkin to the embassy in the morning of the interview but she will be at work when im done and i really don't have a way to get back into her apt. GOOOD LUCK EVERYONE

I dont know about storage nearby, but I know that the security will keep stuff like that for you , like a coatcheck (like for people with electronic car keys etc.).

I think the only drawback is that it takes a few more minutes downstairs.

You can take your purse up with you unless it is super big....

    Yeah! Good luck people!!

  15. This article shows different options:

    http://marriage.about.com/cs/namechange/a/namechange.htm

I also have a very unique french name. It's 11-letters long and even french people have a hard time pronouncing it right, so forget about anglos! So Id like to take my fiancé's name socially, because I like it, it sounds good and it is so much simpler to say, no need to spell it, but officially keep my maiden name, because Im attached to it. Ive also made a name for myself in my field of work in the past 10+ years, so it is another reason to keep my "old" name.

  16. We were approved!! It was very much the easiest part of the whole process so far, stressful leading up to it though. I'll let Jay do the review because he's much better with details than myself. Jennie was first in line but just going in for her interview as were leaving. I am waiting to hear good news from her!

It's such an amazing feeling. I feel like i should be out celebrating but instead i am waiting for him to wake from a nap.

Congratulations! I was thinking about you guys yesterday! kicking.gif

    Im really happy for you!

  17. May interviews are done, we're next!! June is coming very fast, only 12 days left until the first June interviews!!

    Crazyg49 - June 1st

    AandB - June 1st

    Beaudof - June 4th

    Star Shine - June 9th

    Julesrose - June 10th

    Goldenstate - June 11th

    Kizza - June 14th

    dd4ever - June 14th

    Beantown79 - June 23rd

Here's what we have for June, is there anybody else?

Better get everything ready and in order for the interviews now!! kicking.gif

    Holy cow. Already!?! Finally!?

Ive been doing my best not to think about it too much in the past few weeks but reading this post, I just got this huge pang of anxiety.

Cant wait for the interview to be done. I dream about it almost every night.

  18. My prediction for interview dates is Wednesday, May 19. It seems like the last couple of months if a person called on the 3rd Friday of the month, the interview date had been assigned 2 days earlier (I only let myself call once a week, I couldn't bear, the "no interview date" mumbo jumbo from the operator). Soon, very soon, interview dates are coming!

In March, they assigned interviews on wednesday the 17th (I remember because I missed it by one day!! ;) ), and in April, it was on the 16th. I had called early on Friday and was told no interview, and julesrose called later the same day and the interviews had been assigned.

So I would bet money this coming week is the week! Good luck guys!

It would be nice to start seeing a pattern in Montreal so people actually have something to base themselves on.

I'm really not sure. The first time I called they said "you are elageble for a interview but a date has not been set" then the next time I called all I asked was if an interview date has been set and the lady told me no. I have no idea what being "logged in" means. Do you have any idea??? I know for sure that my p3 got to montreal on april 9th. thats about all I know. I hate calling people so I dont call DOS everyday.

If they said you are eligible, that means they received your P3 and logged it. It means you are officially waiting for your interview date.

  19. My fiancee (the beneficiary, from Ontario) is trying to prepare the packet 3 and she, like many others, cannot get the thing to print anything but the confirmation. It just won't do it. Is it because she's on a Mac? Or because she's using the Firefox browser? In researching this site I see that some have only brought the confirmation page to the interview which makes sense since they have all the data stored online anyway. Others don't agree. During her trials and tribulations she started over and filled out the whole form again thinking that maybe a new one would allow her to print. No dice. So we are back to square one and I told her to just send in the confirmation page with a letter of explanation of what happened in case they see two different (but the same) DS160's for her.

    Any thoughts?

I had tons issues getting it to work. Definitely use Internet Explorer, and I recommend downloading version 8 if you dont already have it.

    Good luck!

  20. you have alot of tax info. is that because his salary is less than the required amount for the i-134? if he makes enough i doubt you'll need all that extra stuff. we just brought in a copy of his most recent h&r block return with the matching w2 (aka t4 slips), and the irs transcripts of the 2007 and 2008 returns, along with a job letter.

So, Im just sort of triple-checking everything here. If we have Matt's IRS transcripts from 2009 (along with previous years), we do not need W2s, right?

I read they prefer the IRS transcripts but I want to make sure we are not missing something silly we could easily obtain.

  21. Hey everyone, I hope everyone had a good weekend. Each day that goes by is one day closer to ending this long journey, so that's a positive.

I have my medical on Wednesday in Toronto, so whoever is after me I will sum up the process for us, for reassurance tongue.gif

And one quick question, I don't know about you guys, but to get my vaccination records from my doctor has been a hassle, so after much bickering (they are so lazy) I finally get it tomorrow, but they are not going to print out a record, they are just going to fill in a Immunization Record card. It's a small yellow panflet that says Immunization Record, and the vaccinations documented will be hand written, do you guys think this will be fine?

That's what I'll be bringing to the medical. From what I understand, the panel physician will then fill out a form indicating that I had the required vaccines or that I received them that day.
