  1. Happy Monday! It is almost over!

Amysaid-you had a busy day today!

I took the kids to see Avatar today. LONG movie- and they charge an extra $2.50 for the 3-D effect. argh. It was pretty good though.

Brrrrr! I need me something hot! (but he is in Syria, guess I will have to settle for some hot tea..darn!)

  2. Are you serious about your relationship with this person? Don't be so quick to write it off because you feel they are trying to "destroy" your relationship. AP is normal for most of us in Syria and other middle-eastern countries.

I question your comment- "thanks god so much coz i am not married yet"....Seriously, think about whether this relationship is worth everything to you- If it is, then you will wait. This comment leads me to believe that you are not totally committed to this relationship. If you are not, then I would suggest you rethink what you are doing.

Just a few comments and insha'Allah something to think about.

  3. I know it can work. My friend did this. She did not meet her fiance' in person until he came over here after they went through this whole process. He has his interview last December, and was here a few days later.

Many reasons keep people from meeting each other. It states in the documents what you can do if meeting is not feasible, so please look! I know this because at one point I questioned all of this myself. It all depends on the situation. Really.

Besides the religious reasons, there may be financial concerns as well. I believe my friend was a combination of both of these. Seriously, some people cannot afford a $3000 airfare ticket plus travel expenses. I was very fortunate that I was able to piece together enough money to visit my fiance', but that is not to say the trip was not wraught with worry-about the religious piece. (another story; another time!)

My advice- Read ALL the documents. There are options for you.

  4. Henna Rose- For the 1st time ever, I went to the movies on Christmas with my mom and her friend. I really thought that it would be empty except for a few token Muslims like myself :P .. was I ever wrong! That place was PACKED. We had to wait for the next show because "It's Complicated" was sold out! I couldn't believe it. I never knew so many people went to the movies on Christmas. Do you find this to be true in your area?

  5. I'm right behind you HotGuy- our 9 month will be on the 15th- but who knows if they started the processing then? That was since the day of the interview.

Insha'Allah this airplane terror incident will have no effect on the issuing of visas. This makes me so nervous now!

Everyone- keep praying for good news- with enough of us praying for APs to go quick, we are bound to have some news soon insha'Allah!

  6. Happy Birthday Jeanne and Kenza! :D

Hope everyone had a great Friday! Time for the weekend! woohoo!

I am off to Florida tomorrow night where I hope it will be warm and sunny and GREEN! It is only December and I am

already tired of the brown and drab around here! Mom and I plan to do a little "Thelma and Louise" road trip! ha ha.

Have an absolutely wonderful weekend. Enjoy your family and friends-or your "you" time.

  7. I gave up emailing the embassy- I figure that they are busy enough with all of their cases and if we are all calling or writing each day that it takes away from getting other business done!

As far as the DOS- I wish they had some more info on their computer screen to tell us a little more info than the standard reply "still in AP". Can't they see where it is at or what is holding it up? Calling them has become frustrating too because I get the same answer. So far, I have only called 2-3 times in the 8 months we have been in AP.

From what I hear, a congress-person cannot do a whole lot. They definately cannot speed up the process. Not sure if they can get a "whereabouts" answer for anyone. I am interested to hear stories of people who have contacted someone in Congress.

    Happy weekend!
