Well my NOA2 date is July 24th, but as of today still not showing up at NVC. Is this unusual or has my file been lost? Anybody else here with an NOA2 that NVC has not received yet?

Hello fellow April filers.
Just thought I'd let you know: NOA2 received from CSC.
NOA1 date: April 22.
Congratulations!!!!! My NOA1 date was also April 22 and I got the email from USCIS that approval date was July 24th....so 93 days. Still waiting on the paper NOA2. On to the next stage!

I have a couple of questions as far as information on the DS-130, DS-156, DS-156K forms:
1) On Ds-230(question 37) and DS-156(question 9)it is asking for other first names used or aliases. My fiancee does not go by her given first name, instead she uses the name "Jenni", this is how 95% of all my correspondence (email, chat) addreses her. Is that what they are wanting?
2) I have just received the NOA2, but my fiancee is in the process of moving so she will have a different "house" address than what was listed in the I-129F petition. But her "mail" address is the same which do I use? her "mail" address or her new house address, and will this be a problem compared to the information in the I-129F?
Thanks in advance for replies.

OK, so I am curious...what happened to USAgroom? Was he banned? I dont even see him listed on Igors list anymore.

I'm sorry... I'm just so excited I had to tell somebody!
We received our NOA1 on 4/27/09 & received notice via email today from our attorney that the NOA2 was issued 7/22/09. I can't believe it took less than 3 months with no RFEs! Still have a ways to go (waiting for South Africa to issue the police certificate)... but one obstacle down, only a handful to go!
Thanks to all those who participate in these forums & by updating their timelines... this website is an amazing resource.
Blessings to all of you who long to have your fiance'(e) home and in your arms! We're all in this together...
Great news and congrats!!!!! Woo hoo! Ours was in 93 days...and others are reporting the same, not expedites. CSC is kickin b*tt!

I GOT IT!!!! I'm still on the phone with Lamine right now, but I got the NOA2!!!! It's dated July 22, 2009 and it's the most beautiful piece of paper I've ever seen!
Woo hoo! congrats...I am soooo happy for you!

For those interested. I checked my case on the USCIS website about two times evey day for the past month. I had no touches at all before the approval. The touch was just that it was approved. Also i was set up for email alert and when I got to work today the email was there. Seems there is really no rhyme or reason to how they work as far as order, touches, emails etc.

Now that I have the NOA2 I am starting on the I-134. I have read alot on here but I am still confused on several points:
1) I see many people on here state that it must be notarized. I see in the instructions it says " Signing Form I-134 is under penalty of perjury under US law, for this reason, it is not neceassry to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarized after you sign it."
2) Question 11....I see that most are putting N/A Application for K1 visa and I assune checking the NO box? I feel uncomfortable saying NO on a form that is all about swearing that I WILL support my fiancee.
3) I have seen some people say that if you are above the 125% poverty guideline NOT to list savings accounts, as it will give the CO more things to ask questions about. What questions might those be???????????
4)Has anybody found a bank that can actually give you a statement of how much money has been deposited ina year. (I got a funny look from the bank teller when I mentioned this)
5) If I pay child support are my children wholly dependant or partial?
This seems to be the most confusing form so far...please help!
6) I see nowhere on the form or in the instructions where it says tax returns or W-2's are needed unles SELF EMPLOYED. But I see that people are stating that it was needed at the interview. Would the past three years W-2's be ok?

Congrats on your approval. how did you find Panama? Haven't been there in 10 years
I am an avid whitewater kayaker and have made many trips into Costa Rica and Panama to kayak. But met my SO online.

already answered the BIG BOOK question so here is my contribution to "the most annoying questions you receive while waiting for NOA2/visa?"Oh-and are we playing "the most annoying questions you receive while waiting for NOA2/visa?" If so, here's my contribution. "Have you set a date yet?""Aren't American girls good enough for you?"
GRRRRR I hate that also...along with all their best intentioned warnings about gold diggers (ha! I dont have that much money!) and green card seekers. I have found it is useless to even try and make them understand.
but whats funny is that it goes the other way also...you would not believe the "warnings" my fiancee has received from family and friends about marrying a gringo! That is of course till they meet me!

Hi, I have been approved for the k1 visa in the usa and also in peru (where my fiance is) however they want to see a joint bank account. (for them to stamp the visa) its the final document that I need but I didnt realize that I needed it. I am back in the usa from visiting my fiance. how can I open a joint account with her when she is in peru and I am here? I believe both parties have to be there to open up a joint bank account. She has a bank account at bcp and I have one here in the states. is there anyway to get around this? online bank account or power of attorney? I dont know where to go so I figured I would would ask here for advice. thank you for your comments
Gotta agree with everyone else...never herad of this. For a K3 I could understand...but not K1. Did they give you a piece of paper stating this?

passport OR birth certificate
5 year rule is TOTAL validity not remaining validity. US passports are issued with a 10 year validity other than to minor children
I sent just the copies of ALL the pages of my passport

Personally, I don't think it's a problem at all. I went for the interview and I told the interviewer that we met online.. he was very nice and kind and he's like, oh tons of people met that way. Then, he asked how many times we've met, etc... it's pretty interesting and all he wants to know is how genuine the relationship is after knowing each other the first time. that's all that matters
Good luck!
I agree, I don't think that it is that big of a deal today. Even if it is through an "international dating service". I do think though that the benficiery needs to be ready to answer a question about why he/she wanted to meet an American that way. In my situation I have told my fiancee just to tell the truth...which for her is that she wanted to meet a more mature and FAITHFUL man than her past boyfriends.
-
Do you think the interviewer will try to force us to prove
that we didn't pay money just because we did in fact meet
online, or are they willing to listen to reason?
Also, we are going to admit that we were both married to other
people when we met. I know that is quite common and shouldn't
be an issue, but my better half was a little apprehensive on that point.
Thanks in advance for any reply.
Where did you hear that they will go for the jugular for meeting on-line? I have never heard that. I am willing to bet that 89% of the people who file for K1 met that way.
You're probably right, but it's good for people like us (new to VJ) to get confirmation of that.
I just had a nagging suspicion that if we couldn't prove exactly how/when we met online
they might assume it was an international marriage broker. Glad to hear they are not like that.
=>>We have more than enough proof of an ongoing relationship over years.
My fiancee and I met online through an international dating site, I paid for a 1 month trial membership. So of course I answered yes to the IMB question. The only reason that is asked is because there have been women who have been abused through meeting that way. As far as how the CO looks at that, I really dont think they care. Truthfully it is no different than meeting an American woman through Match, Eharmony etc. Actually for me it is the preferred way as you can email for a good length of time and then decide if you want to travel to meet the person. I do agree though that it does look suspicious to have met online, met maybe once in person and then deciding to get married. For me it kills me to be away from my SO and I have made 5 trips now in the past year to be with her, but also I have the proof of all those trips. Another thing I have done is saved email communication between my fiancee and my parents and sister as further proof of our relationship.
-
I've heard various reports about interviewers going for
the jugular when they hear the couple met online.
We don't rightly know how much weight to give that.
Our story is true, but doesn't really fit into
the scenarios they they are used to hearing.
In 2003 we were both members of an MSN "interest group" that
roughly fits under the heading of married people wanting to socialize.
Although neither of us was active in the group except for meeting
each other (I got her ID from the members list and chatted her up
and never contacted any other member except for her, end of story).
We both de-listed from that group very soon after meeting.
I'm not even sure exactly what the name of that group was
and I tried googling it recently but came up empty.
Neither of us ever paid money for meeting.
We have a great long-term relationship based on trust and lust
and always have been focused on our goal which is to bring her
to New York. We are very close to the point where we can submit
the I-129F (waiting for court action which is imminent) and we're
sure to have enough visual and written "documentation" to make
the process be completed successfully.
Do you think the interviewer will try to force us to prove
that we didn't pay money just because we did in fact meet
online, or are they willing to listen to reason?
Also, we are going to admit that we were both married to other
people when we met. I know that is quite common and shouldn't

Some consulates can be pretty far behind the times. Even if you're high-tech in your communications, make sure to have at least a few postal letters (birthday cards, etc.) sent to and from each of you.
not always possible...decided to snail mail my fiancee a romantic card with a picture we had taken at a circus in Panama City my last visit. 1 & 1/2 months later...she never received it. Talked with another VJ member who's SO lives in the same city in Panama...same for him. It will have to be all "electronic"
