  1. We've been waiting for the RFE for a month and a half. Today, we got the email saying our case was approved instead. We're happy but confused too. According to the USCIS website, they sent the RFE on August 22nd. However, we never got it in the mail, and were told to wait for 30days every time we called the USCIS . So on September 23rd, they finally said they would send the RFE again and give us another 45days to response. How come now it's approved without "more evidence"? What're their decisions based on? How does the system work? what a waste of time!

Subject: Your recent inquiry (receipt #WAC-09-204-11249)

On 09/23/2009 you, or the designated representative shown below,

contacted us about your case. Some of the key information given to us

at that time was the following:

    ....

    Type of service requested:

    -- Non-Delivery of RFE Notice

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the above listed petition. On

9/24//09, your I-130 Petition was approved. On 10/6/09, an Approval

Notice was mailed to you at the address we had on file at that time. You

should receive the notice within 14 days.

  2. Jeany,

Ifs it been past 2 weeks since you were informed of the RFE AND your hubby has not received the hardcopy in mail, he MUST keep calling USCIS. This happened to me, they USCIS did not mail out the RFE, there was a computer glitch, USCIS thought it was mailed out but it was NOT. Tell Warren to keep calling till he has it, cause they give you a certain amount of time to answer RFE, and if they dont get your evidence they asked for, by the deadline date, well they will deny your case, then you have to start all over again. And we dont want that, this process is too hard as it is now. Oh Jeany, tell him to also email them , call, email , till they are sick of it.

    Hugs,

    Beth

eyedo i saw this post in another thread

it was from Paris Heart responding to someone who is yet to get the hard copy of their rfe

    maybe this will help you

thank you so much! (F) It's really helpful. We've called a few times, I guess that's far from enough. We will have to keep calling, and I hope we still have plenty time to meet the deadline

  3. Congrats, Kingdomrunner! :dance::dance::dance:

Oh no Marie876 and eyedo..but at least we know the approval will come soon.

Thank you cornbread, I believe so too, as long as we keep faith in our Good Lord.

Oh no! I was hoping i'd see more approvals

Marie and eyedo what did you guys get rfe's for?

We don't know yet, haven't received the RFE in the mail. Since my hubby is underway, the mail is not the most reliable now.

    We're still waiting

  4. Just got an email from USCIS, unfortunately it's a RFE :crying:

I went through the copies of all the documents we submitted, I've no idea what else they want from us.

However, I did find a problem:my husband didn't answer question 2 (are you related by adoption)and 3(did you gain permanent residence through adoption) on I-130 form, the answers of which are both "No"

So could that cause the RFE?

Anyway, good luck to all the April filers who are still waiting for NOA2

  5. now the CSC processing website has been updated and now the site says for

I-130 Petition for Alien Relative U.S. citizen filing for a spouse, parent, or child under 21 November 15, 2003

Before it had 5 months and now it says November 15, 2003. Not sure whats going on over there but from the looks if it, it is going to be a very long journey.

couldn't even believe it until I checked the USCIS website. What the hell's going on  It can't be true

  6. Hello, does anyone know about visa pro? They email you your case status. I received an email from them and on their site it said my case was last updated 7/7/09. Does this mean i had a touch but it doesnt show on the uscis website?

    Im confused and hoping.

    Thanks, sweetcitywife

    Yep,that's a touch!

Did you check your portfolio page on USCIS website?Since your case was updated, the date in the fourth column should be changed

  7. Hi sarahrice,

If your fiance will be deployed and has his order, he may request for an expedite on either type of visa you apply for. If it gets approved, it'll make the whole process much shorter. You may call the military helpline, however there's no guarantee you'll get the right person who can help you with the case. You may have to try several times. There're also other ways to do it. Here're two posts on how to do the military expedite, which you'll find very helpful

And there's also a thread for military spouse where you can get more details and advice on the expedite, or simply ask any questions

  8. Folks, thanks for all your reviews!

As many have said before, better to have too much rather than too little.

Well, I still have a long way to go before the interview. However, I think it's never too early to prepare the "evidence" which may be required. The problem is I'm not sure which to bring with me to the interview, for I have so many of them.My hubby's in the navy, when he's underway, we can only communicate through the email, so we have over 2,000 gigantic emails so far:blink: Shall I print out all of them ? Besides, he sends me two cards every week, am I supposed to carry all of them(200+) to Guangzhou as well? Together with the pictures and other papers, I doubt a suitcase would be big enough. So I was thinking I may just bring a few emails and cards, left most them home. Now since I've read your post, I guess I was taking chance and risk my pink slit. "too much" is better than "too little" as you said.

  9. As far as the wedding dress, I would like to recommend you to get them in Suzhou. There's a big market there by the classic garden, Tiger Hill. There's a wide selection for everyone. If you don't plan to spend too much on them, there are dresses less than 100yuan. But if you are looking for some upscale ones, you may talk a look at those priced at 20.000+. You'll get a good deal there. But don't be hesitate to bargin there, ha

  10. Yep, it is considered to be a MUST in China, so my husband and I went to the studio and had our pre-wedding pictures done, even though we never like posing in front of the camera.

For sure, it was a long day and very tiring. But we enjoyed the process anyway, it left us great memories. We think it worths it. And it was funny when they tried to figure out how to change my husband's hair style, for he's in the navy, you really can't do anything with such short hair. Also, I couldn't help laughing when my hubby tried to put on the traditional Chinese outfit without help. It could be tricky.

By the way, in most Chinese studios, they take over 100 pictures for you (indoors and outdoors), but you are only supposed to choose around 30 of them at the price you agreed on. If you want more, well, they'll charge around 50yuan for each.

  11. Anywhere along the path you can get thrown into AP which is apparently a black hole of further investigations. So it's a little early to start planning for visa approval for any of us, and I wouldn't hold off on any visit just because of the visa process. If you can go see your spouse, do it! If you wait for the visa you may end up waiting a long time...

Damn, I just depressed myself :(

that's what I told my husband exactly, it's going to take a while. He and his parents are looking forward to spending the Chirstmas with me in the States. However, I told them not to expect that too much. There's no guarantee that I'd get the visa by then,I don’t want to let them down.

Anyway, don’t be too depressed. Look on the bright side, they may finish with the work visas soon. Let’s hope for the best.

Good luck to all April filers!

  12. Sometimes you have to call multiple times to get someone who will actually help you.

yep, I do agree with you. Both my husband and I called the military helpline. They were very nice, not really helpful though. I guess we didn't get the right person. So we may try again. However, since my husband is already underway, we will wait for one/two months to see what happens

Wish you good luck on your expedite from NVC ;)

  13. So I wrote a letter to the Acting Director "Michael Aytes" of USCIS.

    See Below

    From: Aytes, Michael

    to me

show details 9:18 AM (8 minutes ago)

Relative petition completions did drop in April to about 50,000. However, that was still 10% more than they received during the month. The drop was largely temporary as we shifted resources to handle an increase in other workload.

You mentioned that there isn’t any feedback. Our normal rules do apply, and if your petition is outside our case processing times our call center will take the petition information, and the service center will check the case and tell you why the case has not been processed.

    Subject: USCIS

    To Whom It May Concern,

Wanted to know why there was such a big slow down in processing of I-130 forms at the CSC center? There isn't any feedback and the online case status tool doesn't update any information either. I understand that there are work visas being processed but does that mean that they put all other visas on hold while they process work visas?

    Regards

    Thanks for the information, Gundas

Hopefully the drop will be "temporary" as they claimed
