Got my interview date on March,11 so happy and so scared!!! anyone else have March 11 let me know folks!!!!!!!!!

I'm also 3/11 - however will be traveling with either my very pregnant wife or a little tiny kiddo.

Ha....I remembered you were concerned about the timing! Hubby called the NVC last night inquiring about the possibility of delaying CR-1 interview because I wanted to have the baby in Canada. They responded that we can call once the interview has been scheduled to reschedule at a later date.

Also, he asked on my behalf if the x-ray being either deferred or exempt, and if it was deferred, would I have to do it later and as a result the visa be delayed. Unfortunately, the agent didn't know anything about it and told us to refer to the physician doing the medical.

Oh no! Talk about wonderful timing, lol!

My understanding with regard to the x-rays is they simply don't make you do them if you're knocked up.

OMG This is awesome, everyone getting scheduled. But yeah, I see your quandry. Is there any way you can get an earlier date because of your wife's due date if you phone the consulate? I don't know these things...

I've asked them about 15 times what our options are and they are thus:

"Q4: If I cancel my appointment when will I be rescheduled?

A: Rescheduled appointments generally occur 2 to 3 months from when we were notified of the appointment cancellation, due largely to our high volume of cases and workload. This may vary from case to case, due to visa number availability and the visa class being requested."

I think we're actually considering rolling the dice.

We got our appointment scheduled also - 3/11/2010.

Baby's due 3/8/2010.

What to do? Just say screw it and wait to see when he comes out? This is quite a quandary.

Compared to other regional forums, we're so normal. We need some drama here.

I admit, I check out specific regional forums cuz I'm drawn to the drama. Like, do you really think a 21 year old hunky man whom you met on your second day of vacation REALLY loves you? All 200 pounds, 20 more years of you? And your three kids from a previous marriage?

Or do you think an 85 pound, 19 year old girl dreamt her whole life of meeting a 47 year old twice divorced, on unemployment, living with mom pot-bellied man who can't hold a job, owes child support, has a drinking problem to be her honey forever and ever?

When I read those in the Major Changes or regional forums I'm just in awe. I've been blinded by love before but some of these are so ridonkulous yet I can't help reading!

Was in CR-1 a lot, but as a few others have mentioned, really don't care to read about how easy most other countries are relative to Canada for consulate interviews. Plus the people on this forum all seem to be on the same "wavelength". Now its only the Canada forum for me (even though I'm Texan).

You will get 3 or 4 welcome letters, if that's any consolation

My guess is we'll get more than that. Soon as kiddo's birth certificate arrives I'm getting the consular birth abroad stuff going, applying for a passport on both sides of the border, etc. I should get a full size file cabinet.

I did Electronic Processing, so I presume I won't get a hard copy letter. Of course, that means that if I don't get an email...

They tell me every time I call that we'll get an email. EP here as well, I kind of want a hard copy too just to get my dollar's worth.

My wife had her mom bring the dress with her on the flight to Vegas... No problems. On an unrelated note, my wife's friend had a wedding in Sarnia, but had to come from Calgary so they drove through the US for part of the trip. They also had few problems and had a lot more things (arrangements, flowers, favors, the whole bit).

My wife and I are still yet a while to go before we get done with this Journey, but I wanted to give a special thanks today to all of ya'll here in the Canada forum in particular. This process has driven me up the wall a number of times, and its good to have a bunch of great people to relate to, outside of my wife of course (who is just awesome and makes this thing worthwhile). It means a lot, and I hope I can stay active and potentially useful to others in this same situation.

I can't wait to have my wife (and soon to be dual citizened kiddo) here in Dallas with me.

Its been a little over 6 months now since USCIS first received my petition, so not doing so bad!

although i realize that its a tidy sometimes long process i understand that during the process she wont be able to live with me but i wanted to make sure that she would still be able to visit me while the pettions are processed and are there limitations on these visits?

basically what im trying to say is that i want to be able to see and be with her as much as possible while this process takes place

Another Dallasite? My wife and I have been visiting back and forth the whole time pretty much both before and after we started paperwork. At no point have we had any hassles at the border, either one of us. Just don't pack a steamer trunk and you will probably not get much problem. Might help that the wife has a NEXUS pass, so she's gotten a pretty through background check once with USCIS.

GOOD THINKING!! I completely forgot about the evidence bit. I'm pretty sure they will want your birth certificate, marriage certificate, police letter, passport photos...I wonder if we can buy an XPRESSPORT envelope yet. I mean, they don't expire right? O_O

Passport photos do... 30-60days I think? Also my wife is threatening to show up in MTL even if its on her due date! That could be entertaining... "So... you were born in Canada but also in the US."

I hear you on that, when I was interview hunting and would get declined, that phone call ALWAYS made me cry. At my desk. At work. Like a lot...

I probably call too much - the fortunate thing is today my wife's here on a visit so not as brutal. One nice thing would be if they could leave the friggin script play by play to rest and actually communicate with me genuinely.

That said those folks have always been really nice considering they get all kinds of people who are desperate/frustrated/angry and still manage to keep it consistent (i.e: not flying off the handle).

Probably so, sad to say. But NVC always says that scheduling is still ongoing. I was encouraged to call back on Tuesday (Monday is a U.S. holiday). You never know.

At least they left you with hope. I was told we were not scheduled.

No dice on an appointment for February. Just got off the phone with NVC. I really should stop calling them during the work day, they really have a way of screwing me up for the rest of the day.

Whats the guess on how many more days of interview schedulign will be done...end of this week and thats it for Feb?

They say the second week of the month... presumably all week? Hope so - #3 baby!

My packet 3 was logged on the 7th of November and I am still waiting. I am hoping that the start scheduling Feb interviews soon!!

What is a packet 3 / 4 for those of us filing CR-1 and Electronic Filing? So confused when this language comes up...

Yeah...there are SO many routes I could take. I don't think I'll fully decide until the day before I actually leave. Weather.com has a nice national map of all the Interstates, color-coded by road conditions...so I'll probably base my final decision off of that. The fastest route looks to be the I-90 from Seattle through to Chicago, then going down from there. But that could obviously change with snowstorms / bad mountain passes etc. I could also go down into California then take the I-40 over, which would likely circumvent any snow...but at the cost of about ten extra hours. If I DO go the I-90 route, I'm thinking I can make it in three days -- Vancouver to Billings, Montana on day one, Billings to Madison, Wisconsin on day two, and Madison to Washington D.C. on the last day. I'm also a big fan of driving, and my car only has 7200 miles on it, so it should be a good drive! Just gotta wait for that interview date...

I've been trying to decide on this as well, I'd love to turn the trip home with the wife into a tour of sorts but I may be driving her car solo while she gets the baby settled in at our new abode. Wish I could take my car on the trip, but we need to get hers down and as Sam and Ben mentioned summer performance tires (which my GTI sports) are great year-round in Texas mostly, but not up there!

My resolution is to be a good father (starting in March), and do a better job of prioritizing. I have a tendency to focus too much on things that aren't important or that I can't do anything about.

that puts me at around may for a freaking interview..since i just sent back my P3....May..when we apped in march so 14 months total..jfc..argh.

Not sure what the difference is for K-1, I'm sure everyone's mileage will vary.

I was surprised that the lady was nice enough to tell me the 5-6 months thing. Just about any other country and I suspect we'd have an interview scheduled now.

Hey Kids - not sure if anyone's done this before but after pleading mercy from the person on the phone at NVC for any contact info for someone to an embassy (trying to make sure if at all possible we can avoid getting scheduled on or near the due date for our kid). I just was told to call the main state dept number for visas. Took quite some time of listening to menu options but I did get to speak to a very kind person who gave me an email to inquire with. Also its the first time I've talked with someone from DoS that doesn't appear to be reading a script.

The reason MTL is so far behind, it was explained to me is they lost a lot of Consular Officers with not enough lead time to hire new ones... 5-6 month wait is what she's seeing across the board. I know this is common knowledge but good to see that's what we're seeing here is more accurate of the greater population.
