  1. I just received both an email and sms update from USCIS that my EAD is post-production and my AP had been approved;

I am planning on using the AP, so is the notice for the AP the only thing I need or should I expect another document for the AP? coz it said On there :

On February 9, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT.

I really plan on using the AP asap.. and how long does it usually take for the actual AP to be in the mail?

    thanks!

Congratulations, I know you were waiting for this!!! We received our AP within 5 days from the date it was approved.

  2. hi popthecork, i noticed your case was also transferred to CSC, the date jan 5, 2010 was that the date reflected on your USCIS status that it was transferred? or the day they sent u an update for it, like email or sms

because our case was transferred as reflected on the USCIS site, jan. 28 but i got the alert on the 29th..

i was just wondering because that could mean i could also be approved for the EAD and AP sometime this week then :)

I check the USCIS website everyday, and on Jan 5 the message had changed showing that we had been transferred to CSC. Although we have signed up for email updates, we have never received a single one. Since Jan 15 the online system has changed to say that our case was transferred to a USCIS office and no longer states which one. I have come to the realization that their system is only a guide and cannot be counted on. Our AP (which we physically received in early Jan) still says it is under initial review in the system. Good luck to you on getting the EAD and AP, ours did come very shortly after we were transferred, and hopefully yours will too.

  3. Amazing but true!

Green card arrived in the mail today, at the same time but different envelope from the "welcome" letter.

Almost more amazing is that, as important as this document is, they sent it via plain-old, regular first-class mail.

    But....happy dance continues.

Here's hoping the rest of the November crew has equally speedy processing.

Congratulations - is it just me or does everyone here hate Sunday because there is no mail delivery!!!!

  4. Happy to report that as a November (15th) filer we were approved for our AOS package (Jan 27th) with no RFE's and no interview! We just received a USCIS Email that said "welcome new resident. Permanent resident card production has been ordered."

I was a bit worried since I have seen many November filers who received RFE's (or lack of) for the I-693. We did a I-693 with Dr. Arnold of Texas (since retired). I and am now breathing easier.

Through out this process we received NO RFE's or delays on our part. I attribute this to ALL OF YOU ON VJ. I could not have done this with out the advice, guidance or recommendations from members present or past. Thanks to all of you. I will give back the same advice when I can and offer other recommendations from my experiences from the initial 129F (In my case) to AOS and EAD.

OK, my first bit of advice?...................GET A SSN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (K1's).

Yes the whole process is a pain. It will make you loose sleep at night. Your doctor will have to increase your blood pressure meds (LOL). Your bank account will suffer. The process will demonstrate the convoluted bureaucracy and red tape that the USCIS operates under. BUT SHE IS WORTH IT (my wife).

Thanks again to all of you and God speed on your journey.

    Congratulations!!

  5. We recently filed AOS - after coming from Chile also like the original poster. We got an RFE for the 693 as well. We went to the CS and "fought" with him - by being educated as to what is required - to make sure that we did not have to do the medical exam over again. Since the CS's have the upper hand in this situation, they will try like mad to get you to take the medical over again when all you need are sections 1,2 & 5 of the 693 which is the transcription of vaccinations!~ What ended up happening was that he had to take an additional TB and HIV test, even though he had these in Chile, they transcribed the vaccinations and charged us $75 - this was after they tried to charge us $200 - we negotiated down to this. Our medical insurance did cover the doctor visit. Be educated and only get what you need. The medical exam in Chile is extremely thorough so you should not have to go through this again. Good luck. The process is maddening but the reward is soooo sweet.
