  1. On August 14, 2009, the post office returned the Card we mailed to you as undeliverable. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

so I called the number and they told me that I have to wait for 45 days and they will deliver it again. But I'm just so curious that I never move and never change my address and I did receive all the mails they sent before.

    How come this "important one" is undeliverable? <img src="http://www.visajourney.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":crying:" border="0" alt="crying.gif" />

    Did this happen to anyone?

Should I make a inforpass or just wait for them to deliver again?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I remember I needed to sign for delivery, so maybe you weren't home, but at least they should have left you a notice. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

I am working and so is my husband. Do I really have to stay home until I receive my card? I would have to quit my job and that is out of the question!!! Please someone help!!!!! :crying:

  2. She did the correct thing to do; now she has to legalize the record at the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, where they put an "apostille" (fancy word for a piece of paper which is going to cost you 10 bucks! Lol!!!) then you are good to go... Only, just to be on the safe side, translate it too....!!! ;o) good luck and let us know how everything is going....

  3. Hi,

I was just wandering.... Our case was transferred on January the 15th (a month after it was received by the Chicago Office) to the California Service Center. It is almost 6 months now and when we check on the USCIS site, it says it is being initially reviewed.

When a case is transferred to the CSC it is supposed to be approved faster.

Any comments? We're freaking out a little bit here..... ;0)

  4. First allow me to say this is a great site and thanks to everyone for their input in advance. I have read many internet articles and advertisements and stumbled across this site. (thank God) I have searched but have failed to find this question at least this bluntly stated. I am the USC and my Fiancee is from Ecuador. I have some possible red flags and want to know if the concensus is I need a lawyer or do it myself. I am capable of filling out the forms but am worried also about an omission. Here are the potential the flags.

Two felony convictions in 1985. Only one is supposed to be showing in the records but who knows for sure. Did not serve prison time, probation only. Both are long behind me with no further problems.

Next, Reported income level is Not above the 125% guidlines, and i am self employed.

So, Plain and simple, Hire an attorney or not?

And i'm also curious, Are the "Cupid" websites considered a marraige broker?

    Hi!,

Welcome to the site. To answer your questions:

    1. It depends on what type of felony.

    2. You need to be honest regarding your income, as the USCIS is very meticulous checking all your documents.

    3. The dating sites as the "latin american cupid" and all others are NOT considered marriage brokers.

    4. It won't harm if you consult an immigration lawyer.

    Hope I was helpful,

    KataandFreddy

  5. Hi!

Here in Miami I was asked for the Employment Authorization Card, along with my SS card, 3 bills proving I live with my husband, my passport with the I-94 still valid and my old license from Ecuador. I paid like 250 in Ecuador for the International Driver's License and NEVER USED IT!!!! It simply was no good here.

Just recently I was able to be included in my husband's accounts in the bank, when I finally got my driver's license.

So, patience my friends... this is how it goes.

    Hope I was helpful.

  6. Hi!!!

Just wanted to tell you something that has worked for us during really hard times: Start by giving thanks to God for everything you have: starting with the match that lights your stove, all the way through the car you own. I completely understand how hard it is to adapt to a completely new life: simple things as going to a supermarket where all the brands you see are unfamiliar, up to having to drive around not knowing where you are going... having you family far away, and a lot of other things that come with relocating.

The reward though is that you and your husband have each other, and that love is going to atract all sorts of miracles. I studied a 5 year career in my country, and I cannot use it, mainly because I do not have the experience here in the States.

What I did was enroling in one of the Legal careers online, I am preparing myself for a job as a legal transcriptor, and I can do it from my home. Right now my mom and dad (as I call my in-laws) took us under their roof because we basically spent all we had to get this visa process done.

I can only tell you, as my chilean mom says: "Hija, Dios aprieta, pero no ahorca".

Hope I was helpful, and if you need a friend, I am right here.

    Love,

    Kata and Freddy

    Hi Everyone!!!

It is soooo nice to be able to access a computer again and be able to read what's going on on your life guys!!! I've missed you a lot!!!!. Well, first of all, our support for Carl.... hang on in there!!!, we love you.

Let me share a little bit of what went on on our past 2 and a half months: Freddy arrived unexpectedly to Ecuador (risking it all, because we haven't received our NOA2) -later we found out that the day he left Miami, the NOA2 arrived to his mother's house!!!-. We stayed for 9 days at Quito and then flew to Guayaquil and then took a bus to a tiny little town called "Montanita". We stayed there for two wonderful months, where we could work at the only existing internet cafe whenever we had the chance and be aware of what the visa process was needing.

Anyways, we had our interview on the late days of November and received the approval inmediately (then we also received my passport inmediately) and flew back together to Miami.

We are so thankful to all of you guys and specially and mostly to our good God, for whom nothing is impossible. We got married December 4, 2009 (I include pictures of the civil ceremony) and now we are gathering all the papers and filling all the forms for our adjustment of Status.

Buy the way, I have a couple of questions I know you will answer for me:

    1. In the form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) on the Question number 16, where it talks about the Part 2 of the instructions, Elegibility Categories.... which instructions are they talking about? where can I download or get those instructions?

    2. In this same form, in the Question number 1. It asks SHAT USCIS OFFICE? DATES, and on the lower line: RESULTS (GRANTED OR DENIED) am I suppossed to type the Vermont Service Center? and the data in the NOA 2?

Thank you very much for your answers!!!

    Good Luck, :star::star::star:

  10. VISA JOURNEY FAMILY!!!!

Yes!!! we got our pink envelope. In two weeks we are flying to Miami to finally START A LIFE!!!!! hahahahaha!!!! Thank you sooooo very much from the bottom of our hearts for all the support you give. We are at your service for whatever we can do on our end.

God Bless you all and have a nice, fast, easy journey!!!!

    Love,

  11. STAN!

Hey Richard, Missy, Stan, Stephen!!! how is it going everybody??? I hope we are all okay my March Family, let´s keep praying and giving our good Lord thanks and praises because he takes such good care of all us. Well, let me tell you that the same day Freddy was flying to Ecuador, we got approved and the day we left for this tiny little coast town we are in, the hard copy arrived to Freddy´s mom house!!!   So she calls us on the phone and, since we are on vacation, honey moon kinda mood, we do not check our phone very often and we call her back like two days after and then she gives us the great news and I was yelling and jumping all over the place and Freddy was in shock... he called her mom again "just to be sure"

We call NVC and the lady, very politely, tells Freddy all our papers are on its way to Guayaquil´s consulate (does any one know the trick to find out if the package got to Guayaquil????)

Oh!!! also guys, our lawyer had made some mistakes and in the question 11. of the Affidavit of Support he marks the I DO NOT INTEND TO MAKE SPECIFIC CONTRIBUTIONS.... can anyone help me here? if this is an Affidavit of Support I just assumed we should mark I INTEND.... Please help me out with this one...

Well, I love you all guys and since I do not have frecuent access to Internet, I will be checking this out as often as I can. All my love for you all and God Bless!!!

  12. Y'all are making me hungry! I can cook a few things reasonably well, but y'all put me to shame. And Elisha's from the Korean province that's known as the culinary wasteland of the entire peninsula (and she'd tell you the same thing). I love Korean food though, and everything she's cooked for me has been fantastic. I'm looking forward to whipping up Korean dishes together when she gets here :)

awww....I think ya'll are such a sweet looking couple anyway, I can so see that in my imagination!

    Morning my March family!!!!

Please pray for us guys!!! may the Sunday USCIS Magic Fairy of The Late Approvals send me an email tonight!!!!

Have a beautiful sunday...... TWO DAYS MORE TO GO AND MY LOVE WILL BE RIGHT HERE WITH ME!!!!! Yeeeeeeehaaaaa!!!!

    Love,

  13. Not by any court order, but its a good idea. Just annoyed because its so short notice and I had to wait all day in a cell to be told come back later but we're going to throw you out on your ####. I feel victimized by the system because I was the victim of an assault and I am being punished for it. And I'm not allowed to visit the house and all my pets are there. I am also worried that if I get a permanent place now in three weeks when I have to go back to court I don't know what the punishment will be. charges dropped? fine? probation? And It's upsetting because I didn't even DO anything

Well... I am not an attorney nor do I plat one on TV... but I will offer this advice...

Get the police reports... read them... go to your arraignment, assuming you have no past and assuming the reports are vague... pleas NOT guilty... Get an attorney... You can try to call the clerk of the court and see if there are retired judges in your area to talk too... they are the best to talk too... they wont let you talk to the 'real' judge... then figure out a plan... I would recommend that you fight it... since you really dont want that on your record.

    Whatcha y'all doing today?

I am cooking up a storm.... So far I have made some Bolognese Sauce and some Ropa Vieja. I have a turkey breast marinating in some olive oil, rosemary and peppercorns that I will put on the smoker maybe tomorrow if the rain stops. I have a few pork chops marinating in a Jerk rub and I am roasting some fresh coconut for some rice.

Hey Richard... what is it with the mojitos, and ropa vieja... do you have some conection with Cuba? my Freddy's origin is cuban... :star: :star: :star:

Sorry!!! hahahahaha!!! I do not even know how was it that I posted the same thing twice!!!

  14. I made some homemade hummus. My culinary school kid made churros and sent me a picture of some. Linda (ala ThomLin) saw the pictures on facebook and assures me they are delicious.....I dunno......they look funky to me.

Richard, I am not a profesional chef or anything, but I can say without any trace of modesty that I am one hell of a good cook!!! I love cooking and everything that goes with it: the feeling of nourishing, the relaxation, the aroma invasion, colours, textures... It is a great activity. My father is ecuadorian and my mother is chilean, so I cook a lot of those tradicional cuisines. Also I loove Italian, Japaneese, French and Mexican food. Right now, as I am marrying a cuban, I am exploring the magic world of the cuban cuisine... We should get together and prepare this huge meal with all sorts of dishes to share.

Missy, churros are nice, too oily for my taste.. but you should give them a try. They do look kinda funny, but their taste is really nice.
