  1. My husband never received notice that he was in line for the interview. When we checked his online case status it said on November 11 he was placed in line for an interview. Then this week we received a yellow notice that states Pre-Interview Case File Review. It goes on to state USCIS recommends you bring the following documents to your interview:

    • Bring your state-issued driver's license or state issued photo identification card

Does anyone know if this is a BAD thing? I'm a little worried. sad.pngsad.pngsad.pngsad.png

I hope I added my information correctly. It's been awhile since I have posed. I wish everyone the best of luck.

  7. thank you for your help on this one soon i will be going to juarez for interview but i dont think i will be able to go with fiancee i would love to be there for support but it seems because i wont be able to go will that be a problem..can make a certified letter stateing cause of my job i cant go...any infi gladly appreciated than k you and good luck to all on your visa journys

I went with my fiance just for moral support, but I didn't really need to go. The CO just asked my husband where I was and he told him at the hotel. He didn't ask for proof that I was there or anything. You can send a letter if i makes you feel better, but I am pretty sure the CO won't ask to see it. Good luck

  8. Hello MrsBocanegra, Ive been noticing that you always provide useful and accurate information thats why I felt free to ask the following:

    a) My fiance is currently looking for a job so we will obviously need co-sponsors (her parents in this case), so the question is:

Which forms does her parents need to fill out? Just the I-134 ? I noticed that theres this OF167 "form" on the CDJ website but i guess its ok if i just take the I-134 form right?

    b) This is maybe a dumb question but... does she (my fiancee) needs to fill out this form as well?

According to our timeline, I think Ill show up at the consulate on February but i just want to make sure I have all the forms Ill need before going to Ciudad Juarez.

    Thanks in advance

    a) The OF167 just states what you can use to prove the applicant will not become a public charge. Juarez does not specifically ask for any affidavit of support, but we still filled out the I134 and took that.

    b) Yes, she still should fill it out even though she does not work. I know it seems silly but you never know they may ask for it. I filled it out even though I used a cosponsor.

  9. Yes this definitely helps. So, when you called them they said you could go to Juarez even though you did not physically have the invitation letter in your hand? They are nice enough to just print it off for you there? Also is it true that all the forms you need for Juarez can just be downloaded and filled out without having to wait for something from them?

When you call NVC all they tell you is that packet 3 has been sent out and that basically means you can go. I found out through other VJer's that you could have the consulate in Juarez print out the letter only after you have been informed that the packet has been sent out.

When you go to Juarez they have an information window at the consulate and they print out the invitation letter there. Just make sure she goes early like a little before 7 and she maybe able to do the medical exam on the same day. My husband wasn't as lucky because we went the day after a holiday and there was a bunch of people so he didn't get the letter till after 11 am and they stop taking people at the medical exams at 11.

No, you do not have to wait for anything from Juarez all documents can be downloaded and printed. That is what we did

  10. Question 2: I would be sending it either to La Roma, Mexico City or to Jonacatapec, Morelos.

Question 3: How can we know when the letter is ready and we can go ahead and go to Juarez?

    2. I would send it to the biggest city because that would be your safest bet then sending it to a small town and it takes longer if you send it to a smaller town.. As a matter of fact all mail arrives in Mexico city and then gets distributed so I would go with Mexico City.

    3. Call the 1800 number on your NOA1 i think it is to the national visa center and they can tell you if "packet 3" has been sent out (even though for Juarez there is no packet all it is, is the open invitation letter). If they give you the green light then she can go ahead and go to Juarez. We actually never received our invitation letter we called the 800 number and they told us it was ready so we just went ahead a went to Juarez. Don't bother calling Juarez because they charge you 7 dollars a call and it is the same information that the NVC can give you..

    hope this helps

  11. I have the following questions:

    1. Is it okay for documents for proof of ongoing relationship to be in Spanish (chat logs, emails, etc)? I really do not want to translate ALL of the stuff we have.

    2. Can my fiancee go to the interview once they send the invitation letter to save time and just print it out over there? Or does she have to physically receive it first?

    3. Concerning documentation and originals- such as proof of relationship, birth certificate etc- I am a bit uneasy mailing them to Mexico for fear that they might get lost in the mail. Is DHL or FEDEX reliable in this? Should I not even worry about this? How did you get all the documentation to Mexico?

    4. Do I not need a co-sponsor since I am a recent graduate, lack of 2 years of filing taxes (I did not have to because I was a student), and not much work experience? Though, I will say that the job I have is at a stable company, and I will be a full-time permanent employee making well above the federal poverty guidelines by the time I submit the paperwork. I will have a letter of employment, and bank information to prove it. As for my missing tax transcripts according to the I-864 I should be able to write a letter saying that I was in school and did not work- therefore did not have to file taxes. Since the I-134 should follow the I-864, this should work right?

    1. Yes, they can be in Spanish. It goes to show you have a common language and can communicate with each other

    2. Yes, she can go to the interview and have them print out the letter that is what my husband did (fiance at the time)

    3. I have used DHL several times and they were very reliable. What city do you plan on sending them too. I have also used FEDEX but only to send something form Mexico to the US, which was our original submission. I took all the originals with me when I met my husband in Juarez I decided to be there for moral support it really helps.

    4. As long as you are currently making enough money you should be fine. When I filed I did not have any income due to the same reason. Just provide proof as to why you didn't file and proof of your income level now.

Hope this helps if you have any questions feel free to ask.

  12. From what I have ready about Juarez, they are not too strict with finances and sometimes simply take the financial proof without looking much into it. My issue is that by the time we go to the interview our past years tax return will not meet the 125% poverty level because half of the year I was in school which leaves me with about 10k that I made at work for 2010. I am petitioning a K1 visa just for my fiancee with no other dependents. Also I have no financial burdens, debts or anything. I am currently working at a job full time permanent, I had since October with a yearly salary of 40k, well above the 18k poverty line.

I would think that since I just graduated from college, am young, and can write a letter clarifying my tax returns, this should not be an issue. Its just after reading a post from someone that was denied a visa from the Manila consulate for financial reasons (even though currently they meet the requirements, but the year before they didn't) I feel a bit uneasy.

Can somebody give me some insight specifically about the consulate in Juarez? I just need to know if present income is sufficient or if they really dig into your financial history.

They look at your current income. When I filed for my now husband I used a cosponsor who made about that much. I was still in school and living abroad so I had no income at the time. If you have any questions feel free to ask. We went about a year ago and he is a green card holder now. Good luck

  13. Although the IO told us we were approved, it has been a week now and still no touch on my case status... no mail, nothing. I am guessing each IO has to do a final review, submit papers and then fingers crossed... I will get my approval notice and then card production....

All that questioning about terrorism,etc.. we all go thru that during the interview. While some IOs do seem more thorough than others, I think its also our own personal intensity and our own personal perception of the experience that contributes to the "difficulty" factor of the interview.

You should make an info pass and at the same time they may even stamp your passport with a temporary greencard like my husbands. That why if you need it for any reason you have proof on your passport.

  14. Approved!!! We arrived on time and were called about 20 minutes later. The IO that interviewed us was very nice. He asked us for identification and then any supporting evidence we had. We showed him bank statements, checks, credit cards, letters from friends and family, photos, and our sons BC.. He said well the BC really helps prove your case. He asked us how we met, our current address, he asked my husband what his mother and fathers names were, when we got married, last date of entry, and where he entered at.

They even stamped his passport because we plan on traveling out of the country tomorrow... I am so happy it is finally over... Well for now

  15. Approved!! Interview was a breeze.. Hubby was right, there was no need to fret. IO didn't even look at the nice evidence package I put together. I even ran out to the drugstore to print off more pics this a.m.

IO asked Hubby to write down the names of our pets. I had to answer.. was a comical moment. IO asked what we did last weekend. we were approved quickly... I think it was fairly obvious we are a legit couple too.

GC will arrive in 1-2 weeks, I94 was taken.. no stamps, no approval letter.

After 2 years and removal of conditions, we wait another 1 year and.I can apply for ciizenship. Hooray!!! ThAnks so much to everyone on VJ for your advice and support. Such a relief that its finally over.. for now. see you back here In 2 years! :) good luck to those still waiting!

    Congrats!!!!

Did they take away your AP and EAD... Cause we really want to travel if we get approved, but we want to do it sooner than 2 weeks. What other questions did they ask?

  16. There was no change... our last touch was 26 October 2010, which was the first time it had been touched since August. So basically, one touch for the I-485 after biometrics was completed and we had the interview notice a day under two weeks later. Hope that helps!

Thanks, for responding. We received our interview notice today. The interview is set for November 10, I believe we go the day after you go... Now I have to start preparing everything for the interview...

  17. got my interview notice today! December 7th :)

now i have the fun task of compiling all of our evidence.. lol!

question: we had submitted all of the employee documents, W2's, Income tax returns with the I-864... do we need to bring them again?

It will have taken taken 5 months but it will all be over soon.. the anticipation is gonna kill me.. another month til interview time!

    CONGRATS!!!!

I would take everything because as we all know you NEVER know what they will ask for.. I hope this means my husband will be getting an appt. soon.. we really want to go visit his family in December, but we want the whole process to be over with before we go...

  18. I went to school in Trois-Rivières, Canada. (chiropractic program is only given in Trois-Rivières and Toronto in Canada). I had to go to the Parker College here in Dallas to complete my first part of the American Board exams though!

My husband can't hold off on this carreer opportunity. He has been waiting for more than a year, and now it's starting to get more and more positive (he wants to be an air traffic controller), and if he gets called in an interview and they choose him, he's gonna have to go to that school. And it's a once in a lifetime opportunity..

I know i could go with some medical insurrance companies, I'm just wondering which ones i should consider, which ones are the cheapest, etc... And i'm not sure GC holder can get Medicaid.

I'm addicted to chiropractors LOL!!!! I've been going since I was 12!

I had to get medicaid because at the time I found out I was pregnant I only had a part time job with no benefits. I had just returned home from living out of the country so I took any job I could get. I even tried buying insurance after I found out but everyone denied me because of my pre-existing condition (pregnancy). The other problem I came across was most individual insurance plans would not cover pregnancy. My chiropractor has two girls and his wife is self-employed so they have to buy individual insurance. He said they still had to pay 10,000 out-of-pocket because his insurance would not cover it. When my parents had individual insurance plans they paid 400 plus a month and still had a deductible. Your best bet is medicaid or talking to an insurance broker who may know of a company that will cover your.

I never wanted to be on medicaid but I got lucky because the doctor I have is great. He is the same doctor my sister used for all three of her babies and she has medical insurance; I just got lucky he accepted medicaid. Good luck and I really hope you find a solution because I know how nerve wrecking this can be. I am 3 days shy from reaching 40 weeks and I am ready for this baby to come out LOL!!!

  19. got my EAD card in the mail today! it's beautiful :) First thing Monday, I am going to the Social Security office.. do they issue you a number on the spot?

Also, my EAD card lists conditions as "NONE" and says that I am valid to work for the validity of the card (09/2011) - does any of y'all lists conditions on your card?

Congrats!! I bet it feels good to see something happening with your case. My husband went to his bio appt. today. We were in and out of there pretty quickly. Although, the guard lectured us first telling us that next time we need to follow the directions on the paper and send it in to reschedule. I think she remembered us from last week LOL!!

EAD card production has been ordered so hopefully we will be getting it soon.
