My fiance sent me a prepaid phone plus $40 load with total cost of $55 ($30 prepaid phone set + $25 load). It should arrive tomorrow so I can bring it with me during my trip on Nov. 4. Today, my fiance and I both just received an e-mail from Fedex saying that the package was held up at Customs because the importer needs to pay the taxes and duties. Anyone experience this?

My fiance said that he put in the package that it's for personal use. Also, I thought that there's a minimum value for the Custom to require payment of duties and taxes and if it's for personal use, it's free of duties and taxes.

I've been looking online for the minimum amount and rules and regulations about paying duties and taxes at Customs but I can't find any. Is there anyone here familiar with it? I would really appreciate it.

Honestly if the Custom will require me to go to Manila, I'd rather let it there. It would be so much hassle to go to Manila to claim it with the heavy traffic nowadays. But if someone can suggest any idea on how to resolve it, I would really appreciate it.

my fiancee and I have a nuisance passport problem (DFA promised to expedite the new passport weeks ago, but now? the INTERVIEW is already scheduled for NOV12th, 09 and we have been put off as to the pick-up date, again and again.

will you please share with us how many days are (REALLY) required to complete the MED, prior to the USEM interview, so that there is time to have the results forwarded to the embassy?

we originally thought we had planned smartly, by doing the med in PLENTY of time, prior... but now?

we would be cutting it VERY close, by trying to do the MED on the alternative date of Monday the 9th, with the INTERVIEW already scheduled on THURSDAY the 12th

any real-life words of wisdom, please? is this tight "Monday+Tuesday MED with USEM interview on THURSDAY" window at all realistic?

MEDICAL would usually take 2 days. but it really depends on you're results. if theres no problem it would take 2 days,but if not it could take more.. like for my case my son had problems so it took us 4x to come back. but we pass the medical so its no problem now,its a good thing we had an early medical,now we only have to worry about the interview which will be on nov23.

I'd love to hear advice from other VJ members concerning buying Janet's wedding dress and our wedding bands while we are in the Philippines. Would this be a hassle to bring this stuff back to the US? Is it worth the savings, or are we just better off to wait until we are back in the US, and just buy it all here? Any advice is appreciated. We will be marrying in the US within the 90 days. Lyle

Yeah the doctor started yelling at my wife then started asking her what grade she graduate in and what was her average in math and science. making my wife almost cry. Then she wrote something down she said. now when she went to get her results. they said she has to come back for another appointment with the doctor I dont understand. my wife is sweet and kind, she did nothing for the doctor to be mad. now her interview date has been pushed back because of this what do i do? im so upset, pissed, and sad. I wanted my wife here for thanksgiving but now its not gonna happen. What should I do? should I complain about the doctor that did that to my wife?

I just called tonight NVC and I already have interview date: Dec. 04, 2009 at 6:30AM. I really thought i need to wait until 2nd week of November but God is really great for always helping me and us here. I really hope that i can bring home the famous PINK.

she can get an SSS id as long as she has an SSS number,but it would take 3 months before they release it. form 137 are released by schools. I did get my form 137 last june 25,2009. The voters ID would be released january of 2010 but she has too apply for it now. DFA wants old id.as I said THE OLDER THE BETTER,but just incase you dont have any old ids they would accept new sss ids and voters id,they just want to be sure you are who you are.

when i applied for a passport i did have my nbi clearance but was not accepted too.

And postal IDs are not being acceptep by some agencies and companies anymore.

went to my previous school and asked them for a year book.

but if she does not have that she could probably go to the school and ask them of any documents that could prove that she studied there. coz DFA wants older ID's. the OLDER the better.

I just read this post of yours just a few minutes ago. Yes, you are right. There is always good and bad wherever you go. But we are all glad, you and your son passed the exam.

I will be having my exam next week, Oct. 27-28 and I really pray I will be able to pass it. My interview will be on the 19th of NOvember.

I'm not sure what they would want here as in USa I am unaware of any document to show my singleness, other than tax returns or the original documents I filed with immigration stating I am single and never married (not divorced). Anyone know what they want to see here, in regards to my "singleness"??? Also whats the cost for the whole cfo seminar ordeal?Thanks

hi it was a very hectic day for me today

8am went to NBI carriedo, got my NBI ID card.

10am attended guidance and counselling @ PRISM

1230 One on One counseling,asked me for my mom in laws name. and some info about my beloved hubby

1240 my yellow certificate was released

1:00 pm arrived at CFO

1:45 pm got my green certificate

then i ate a hearty meal @ tokyo tokyo and i bought little mr gabby his fave oreo cheesecake YUMM!

ill just go back to CFO for me and gabby's stickers yey!

now the only thing to worry is the INTERVIEW ! ...

ours was to be nov 10th 7am but have to call tommarow to cancel. She said it won't be enough time to get the NBI clearnce from Taiwain. She worked there years ago but since she worked their they want that too. Wish we would of known that well the I-129 was being processed.

so our date is TBA i guess lol

Hello guys! I called NVC tonight and the operator told me that NVC is giving me a schedule for December because there are no more slots for November at the US Embassy Manila. The operator also told me that NVC do the scheduling every 2nd week of the month... I need to wait until 2nd week of November to have the interview date and that is also what the operator told me... they will send the appointment letter also by 2nd week of November. I am really wishing that i can be with my husband on Christmas.
