  1. Hi

I was told that when i get to the Port of Entry i need the documents i brought to the embassy during my interview. How true is this?

When your visa is delivered, an envelope that you are not permitted to open, is also given to you. This is handed in at POE and contains everything to do with your case (all the forms you sent, medical results...etc)

so thats all i need to present at the POE? no more like pics, emails and other documents?

The envelope and of course your passport containing your visa. No other proof of relationship is required. The only thing they will do is get you to complete an I-94 document. This is given to you whilst you are on the plane, you fill it out, and give this to the POE officer. They will stamp it and then give it back to you. You will need to keep this safe as it is one of the bits of evidence you need for AOS.

thank you very much! now i dont have to think about carrying those heavy loads of papers again lol.

The brown envelope you are given is quite heavy, but nowhere near as heavy as all the information you have to take to the embassy.

    Have a good POE :D

    thanks again!

  5. Hi there.

After your girl gets her visa, lands in the US and you guys get married, she has to apply for Adjustment of Status (AOS), Advance Parole (AP) and Employment Authorization Document (EAD).

AOS allows her to change her status from temporary resident to conditional permanent resident (where she will receive a conditional 2-year green card).

AP allows her to travel outside the US without fear of losing her status.

EAD gives her authorization to work in the US. She will not be allowed to work without it.

You may want to read the Guides about AOS, AP and EAD.

I answered it yes, with working authorization...

you gotta work in the future and help your husband specially when husband is only earning enough to support everday expenses...

its just being real, unless your fiance is earning way way beyond the poverty lines...

what is meant by the phrase " with work authorization" ?

does it mean we have work authorization before receiving the visa?

ok thanks alot for this. i understand now.

  7. Best is YES and write: But I don't have any immediate plans to work.

Do you think the CO will believe you don't intend to work in the US?

OMG! in my own opinion "intend" is different from want or like... thats why i put a NO.

cause i want and i like but thats not my intention, or goal, or purpose

intend, intensions, goal, purpose, aim, objective = whatever lol. i think they are synonymous

i think im just a confused child lol.

  8. Yes but no immediate plans for work and school.

DON't leave any blanks. Put NONE or N/A where applicable.

Depends on the consulate. HCM, for example, is very specific - they don't want to you to enter province or country where the passport was issued - only the city. They also don't want you putting "none" or "n/a" in the "Other names used" box. I'm guessing this is because it confuses the software that reads the barcode.

Unfortunately, they don't tell you this stuff until you get the instructions for packet 4.

they dont want you to put NONE on the other names used?

i havent read that yet, is it available online where they say that?

  11. Your paystubs show your full SSN? Wow, I thought most payroll processors had gotten away from that... mine only show the last 4 digits, the rest are asterisks.

    paystubs? what paystubs?

Oops! That's what I get for posting at 12:30 am.

But, while we're on the topic of bank statements, those don't routinely display SSN either...

Paystubs are in the title of the thread, that's where I got that. I knew I wasn't (that) crazy!

LOL! i forgot i put that sorry. i thought i was talking about bank statements ONLY. i think im starting to get crazy or already. oh my gawd!

  12. someone posted on my thread that she should can bring the letter from the embassy or as someone said back then, a copy of NOA2, and the cost is $213.65 which is about

10,500 in our currencey :) then 4 2x 2 pictures, snacks, a jacket, and also they said clothing that can be easily taken off as she will have to disrobe. and also, make sure she knows your address, your SSN and contact number as they said it will be needed when filling out the forms :)
