Woohoo, passport in hand, going to use it for the first time in a couple weeks, going to Grenada (Carribean)

So First and foremost,

Really excited about receiving my passport yesterday.

As an FYI for people deciding, it took 15 days from mailing date to receiving date using regular service, don't waste money on expedited service in my opinion....

So I already updated my records with the Social Security office when I got my Naturalization certificate. I will be going into the DMV anyways to update my license address so I will update with them too soon, anything else that needs updating ???

Opened my Mail yesterday and I had my Passport in hand!!!! It's cool looking.. These new passports with something historic on each page... very nice.. only down side, I don't like that mine is microchipped ;P but awesome!

Check my timelines below for processing times.... ( Took 15 Days from Application Mailing Date to receiving it, using regular service, glad I didn't pay for expedited. )

So, I already went to update my info @ SS, what else needs to be updated besides the DMV?

Sorry, I thought anticipation would subside after Oath, but its just as bad waiting for the passport to come in, especially when I'm traveling in 6 weeks lol

WOW!!! Naturalization applications are being processed very quickly now.

My whole Naturalization process took a year to complete!!!!

I send in my daughter's N-400 in November, 2010.... hopefully, it'll still be moving as fast at that time.

Well I thought 1 year was a long time lol..

Alot of us are getting FASTTT processing (like me), 3 months 26 days from N-400 Sent in to Oath.

Now that I completed the journey and am a U.S Citizen, I logged into the USCIS Status Check website and it still says what it says from Day 1:

On April 6, 2009, we received this N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case

Done deal. I am now a U.S Citizen.

10:00 Oath, took an hour, pledge of allegiance, oath, couple songs and waving of the flag and a 2 videos and I had my Cert of Nat. in my hand my 11:00 AM. Straight shot to the Social Security Administration office, took about 30-45 minutes, updated my Social Security Status, along with that comes a new social security card in the mail, is that correct?

After that, straight shot next door to the city of sweetwater building a couple blocks down and applied for my Passport using regular service, lets see how fast it comes....

thats it everything taken care of in one day... Back at work after lunch.....

Hope the passport is before Sept 4th... I hear everyone gets it fast even with the regular method....

So my only question is for the people who already did the Social Security updating, does it also come with a new card? He scanned my Cert of Nat and stapled it to my application.. I didn't think I'd be getting a new SS card also?

Our journey is FINALLY over! My wife took the oath on Friday with 178 other new citizens at the Miami district Hialeah field office. Of that number, 29 were from Colombia; 85 were from Cuba. All other nationalities numbered in the single digits (1 Ecuadoran, 2 Brazilians, 1 Chinese, 7 Venezuelans, etc.). The kids and I were given flags and seats of honor on the side, and mom was given a plastic bag containing various info and her flag. National anthem, a video on faces of citizenship, a video welcome from President Obama, the oath itself, the pledge of allegiance, and then a rendition of "I'm Proud to Be an American" (what? no "My Country 'Tis of Thee" or "God Bless America" even?), and it was over.

This journey began a LONG time ago here on VJ when I registered just a couple of months after we had gotten engaged. This step was by far the easiest and the least involved, with the initial step of the CR-1 visa being the most intense. It's been fun keeping track and sharing here on VJ for the last six years, and I wish everyone the best.

Congrats man!!! I'm on my way as we speak to the West Kendall Office for oath at 10:00 AM, My journey hasn't been as long as yours but even this was long for me, I can't imagine all that !!!!!

If you have a passport agency in Miami go there as soon as you have the certificate in hand (don't forget the passport pictures). I've read that here in Chicago there is one that does same day (often under 3 hrs) passports but you have to come in early to get your number in line, need the proof of travel and they also do it for the new citizens.

So, just get there and get your passport.

So your saying for new citizens they will process me regardless of not being in the 14-day Window?

So as you all know, my Oath is July 27th. I am traveling Sept 8. And need my passport in my hands by Sept 4.

If it were you, and you needed it by Sept 4th, would you send it in like normal July 27th right after oath, or would you hold off and go to the Passport Agency that handles soon-to-be travelers if your leaving within 2 weeks?

Also, Miami people, do you have experience going to that passport agency? How long would it take me there and do they do same-day? (Miami Passport Agency)

So my question is, can you send more than just 2 passport photos in your application (1st Time passport application) ?

I ask because I have 2 sets (4 pictures total) that I took today to send in with my Passport Application, and figured if it is allowed I would send all 4 just incase they like one set better than the other or if one gets rejected my entire application won't get rejected?

Anyone done that?

So I was thinking, can I send more than one picture with my passport app so it won't get denied and they can choose which they'd like to use best ?

Wow I'm so impressed with Miami!!!! We used to take sooooo longgg! Now look, all 3 Miami people have Oath Dates already this month, and were 3 out of 6 of the first this round of applications......

Are we living in a dream world???

I think the price increase + job loss/unemployment contributes to less of the people who live here on very little money not to apply thus freeing the way for us???

So, I have my Oath 7/27/09 @ 10:00 AM.

I plan to right after the oath go to the post office and apply for a passport by mail with the 75.00 Fee. (Non-Expedited).

I can do that correct? If so, When can I estimate to have my passport, for sure by the end of august if I apply 7/27 @ the U.S Post office right?

Questions:

1. What are the payment options, can I pay with credit card @ the post office?

2. Do I have to pay the $25 Acceptance fee or only the $75 ?

3. Do I need to take more pictures for it or were the pictures for my N-400 application I signed @ the interview for my passport???

4. By applying regularly on 7/27/09 @ the post office, I should have my passport by September 1, 2009 easily correct?
