  1. I think you never know with USCIS

I received another appointment letter for Biometrics on the 11th ( This saturday) ( I have done my biometrics) I called the FBI to to confirm if it was something with my fingerprints but they said they recieved it processed it on the same day and returned it to the uscis. I called the Customer Service Number and was given the standard answer to just appear with the other stamped appointment letter plus the new one . I dont think i want to but i have no choice. I have had touches on my AOS and and a transfer to CSC. Im just wondering if this is possible before capturing the biometrics.

    nway another trip this saturday.

That's so weird but atleast you confirmed that they received your biometrics.

Congrats on your transfer to CSC....at least no interview for you.

  2. Second on that, where to buy those baggies for photos?

Hi. I have some general questions on the AOS forms:

    1) The signature in my passport is in Russian signed by me when Iwas 15, when I got to the US, my relative told me it looked weird and didn't make sence so he adviced I should change it. So, I started signing everything using English letters(including the marriage certificate). So, is it ok if I have a signature on AOS forms, if it's different from the signature in my passport?

    2) About passport-style photos: should I put them in littel baggies?I read on here that's what most of people do, but I couldn't find those baggies anywhere. Where can I get those or what could I substitute those with? Would I need to have 4 of them: for I-130 (2), I-485, I-765 or just 2 bags. How should I attach them to the forms(should I use a separate sheet of paper for each baggy, or just attach those to forms)? Also, shouldI use papaerclips or staples? The same question I have about checks.

    3) Our marriage is gonna be recorded in a few weeks at the City Clerk, so can I go ahead and just send a photocopy of the original marriage certificate that we have on hand with our AOS petition instead of waiting to get a certified copy from the City Clerk?

    Thank you...

    - i would say use the signature u used on your marriage certificate since its the most recent one.

    - On your passport, only make copies of the relevant pages e.g those that have your biographic info [DOB, issue date, expiration date, ur pic etc], your visa pages etc. You don't have to include the blank pages in your passport.

    - I think you need to send a copy of the certified marriage certificate...u know the one that has a seal on it somewhere.

    - The baggies for photos, i made my own using regular paper and i stapled the ends. U could also just clip the photos to the forms using a paper clip.

  3. The 8843 helps one's case as it shows you filed to be exempt from paying taxes. My whole point is that USCIS asked me to submit federal tax documentation inc W-2s.

Anyway after speaking to the IRS and explained my case, being on an F-1 I am exempt anyway so they said dont bother sending an 8843 as there is no point this year but refer uscis to irs publications 519 pages 6 and 7 to show f1 tax exempt info.

I have all the info I need and will be finishing the letter tonight and will send the rfe tomorrow.

When you say cpt on your i-20 how do you mean by cpt?

cpt on your i-20 basically means that when u get an internship or coop, your school has to indicate on your i-20 that you are doing cpt (curriculum practical training) which is working as a practical trainee in your field of study. It usually has a company name, your start and end date.

You kind of complicated your case by including your income in the first place but since its already done, go ahead and send all the info they need. If they keep giving you problems, i say you just get another co-sponsor and take yourself off.

  4. I am the total opposite. I kinda thought it was a good idea because if its going to 'somehow' prevent cervical cancer, then why not take the shots. They are expensive, about $160, if u go to your personal physician but if u go to the health department, u will only pay $20......at least in Texas. Unless it could harm ur baby but if your physician says its ok, just go for it and btw......if u file for a waiver, its going to hold you back for a couple of months.

  5. I've had lots of touches on AP lately. Nothing on AOS and EAd but our biometrics isn't until next week so that makes sense.

That is interesting. I have 4 touches on my AOS but my EAD and AP still say 6-12. Who knows.

Another touch today...That makes July 2,3,6,7,8 :bonk:

    Maybe I should stop looking.

That's a good thing that you have touches and since u were transfered, you will probably just get your card soon with no interview. I haven't had touches on my AOS in over a month and its killing me.

I see that you have your EAD already. Congrats!! I have no touches our EAD or AP. I figured they would work on that first but your right I am not complaining. I just fear the dreaded RFE. Good Luck!

Thanx although i still haven't received it in the mail...i hope i do sometime this week. To me, AOS is more important than EAD coz i already have a job and im working. School starts late August and if i could get the GC by then, i won't have to worry about the 'out of state tuition' anymore.

  7. Hi,

    I went to BIO today.

my schedule is on june 16, but I have school that day, so I went there to see what they say.

    but unfortunately failed :(

they said i can go after my schedule, but not before.

I saw a few comments that they went early without change schedule and succeed

    so I was hoping.

my BIO place is Brooklyn NY.

i just wanted to let ppl know if you are thinking to go early and if you need to travel a lot,

and dont want to waste time,

better to think you will go to drive!!

place was 30mins away from my house, so it was okay for me.

but anyway little bit sad :(

i will go BIO on schedule day again.

    need to tell school.

Hi AkikoA, sorry to hear that you were turned away. I am in the same boat with you right now because i also want to do my Bio early. I am yet to make my first trip there

but I am really hoping that i get lucky. But don't worry because your appointment date is just a week away.

  8. Hi,

Mine case is AOS from H1B.

    I completed my Biometrics today(06/11/2009) for I-485,

I havent received my NOA for I-765 because they rejected it earlier saying incorrect fees, But i replied back with receipts of I-485 and Other receipts of I-130, I- 131,

I dont know why they rejected it saying incorrect fees, As there is no fees fro EAD and AP when you apply together with AOS form.

Now my question is do i have to go for another Biometrics for EAD also after i get NOA for EAD. I am waiting for NOA for EAD .

    Thanks ,

    Anurag.

How much money did you put in for the I-485 package? It should have been $1010 for all.

  9. Hello Everyone,

Another January Submitter Story. A bit long.

My interview was today for 9:35 in NY.

My husband and i got there at 8:00 very early but the officer said we were too early and to come back at 9:00 lol.

We didn't walk around, i didn't want too so we sat at on a bench facing the building until 8:45 lol then we went in.

We were sent to the eight floor to sign in. I handed in my interview letter, the lady checked my A# and told me i'm early because they had me down for a 10:30 appointment. She looked at my interview time and realised that THEY were wrong said its ok gave me back the letter and sent us down to the fourth floor. I gave the the interview letter at the window and the guy took it and stamped it or something.

The room was crowded we managed to get the last two seats in the back. I noticed some people had lawyers and some didn't. My husband and I didn't. I wasn't as nervous as i thought i would be. We didn't sit there to long, we were called in pretty quickly even before some people we noticed were sitting there before us.

Our interview officer was a lady. She swore us in and then the questions started.

Our full names, date of birth. She then turned to my husband and ask him how we met, what did we do on our first date, where did we get married, on what date.

She turned to me and ask me, what is my husbands parents names, where do they live? City and State, what are there jobs, what's his brothers and sisters name and where do they live. She ask me where was my husband born, which was Hong Kong, how long did he live there? She was surprised i even knew what city.

It got tense when she turned to my husband and said.

You guys have been married a year Mr Zavelle, why didn't you open a bank account with your wife sooner? How was she getting money? Why wasn't i on his work benefits? I tried to answer that and she put her hand up to silence me.

My poor husband got nervous right there and he stuttered an answer. I don't think she was satisfied with the answer so i asked her if i can answer it. She let me, so i explained to her that we did try to get me on his account but his bank didn't accept me because i didn't have a SSN. I told her on get on his insurance i need a SSN. She was satisfied, turning back to him she asked him how long we've been living together. My husband blurted 2yrs, which was wrong, i turned to tell him this but she put her hands up to silence me again.

She sat back and ask him if he was sure, he nervously replied a year and a half. She turned to me again, the answer was at the tip of my tongue, she smiled and turned and ask my husband why didn't he know how long we've been living together.

He told her he was feeling very nervous and then he answered correctly. She asked me if i know how much tax return we got back or something like that and i told her i couldn't remember.

She ask my husband about our wedding. Why wasn't our parents there? She asked him if his parents didn't attend because we were an interracial couple *wow* he explained we just wanted something simple. I was going to say something but she turned to me and said if i interrupted again she would end the interview. *wow* i apologized and looked off into space lol. I listened to her grill him some more about unnecessary stuff. She had to call me by name for me to answer another question lol. I knew she could tell i was annoyed with her questions. She then ask to see our proof of marriage. I gave her a big smile and pulled out everything putting our large album on top.

She looked through everything, lease, bank statement, marriage certificate, letters from family, she even opened up a card and read it twice lol. I was anxious to know why she read it twice. It was a card from my father-in-law, hoping that i was able to travel and visit them in New Mexico this year, that he had so much to show me in the marvelous South West lol. 100 points for that card. She took 3 of our pictures, with us together. One from our Wedding, our Honeymoon and Christmas 2008..

She gave us everything back then started to ask me question that i kept saying NO to. Stuff about crime and Terrorist and all that.

She then wrote something in my passport PENDING I-485, Section 245 Interview, the date, A#, (ISO) and her name and state. She told us they would contact us in 60 days when they come to a decision *WHAT?* I was hearth broken, i smiled and thanked her and she asked for my work permit because she needed a copy. We waited in the room with the other interviewers for about a minute, she came back, handed me my card and i gave her a big smile and told her thank you, while i shook her hand. She smiled back and gave me a firm hand shake.

My husband and i didn't speak till we were out of the building, then he told me he was so sorry for getting a question wrong. I held his hand and told him it was ok because it was, i didn't get a bad feeling about our interview at all. She was just doing her job and she was very good at it lol. I got home called my mom, who wanted to know details down to what the lady was wearing. My mom thinks she's a clairvoyant << don't ask lol she told me they would contact me before 60 days. I smile told her i hope so and told her i'm going to take a nap.

I was so tired from being tense up all morning. I slept the day away. While writing this experience i saw a red light on my black berry saying new mail. I almost dropped it when it said Case Status Information for Receipt Number:*************

Its to late to call my mom but i'll do it very early in the morning.

All I can say is woow.....you are a very strong lady. I don't think i could have handled all that grilling.

Congrats coz you surely deserve it.

  10. Does anyone know if this office allows you to go and do your biometrics early?

You did not mention an office, but I am assuming from your profile, you are from Dallas, TX. Most ASC's do welcome walk-ins, and there is no harm in trying. Even on the day of the assigned biometrics day, you may go in early and if not busy, they will surely take you in. Thats what I did.

I mentioned the office in the Topic subject....Its the "Fort Worth" office in Tx

Sorry! Didn't see it. Well, you can try it out. I am sure it won't be busy. Its your luck. You might confront an officer who is helpful or not. Try it. No harm.

Thanx. I will give it a shot and see. I hear it helps to go in the afternoons or on the weekends when they are less likely to be busy. Actually, a member posted somewhere here

that a different ASC office in Dallas does not allow early walk-ins at all. I hope I get lucky.

  12. Phew...got my 3 NOAs yesterday. I went online and created an account so now i can see all my cases online...Thank God and Thank you all VJ members. I am now waiting for my biometrics letter because i really want to do them early and get it out of the way.

Got the Biometrics letter today.....Thank God

Congratulations on the Biometrics letter. I got mine earlier this week, scheduled for June 17. I will be out of town then so I tried going early (Saturday, June 6) with my appointment letter, but the USCIS-Dallas North office won't take early walk-ins :( I noticed you have the same field office, are you going to the same ASC? Hope everything works out for you, please post if they take yours? Thanks! :)

Thank you BT78. My office is actually in Fort Worth so i don't know if they allow walk-ins. I'm scheduled for June 25 and i will try to go there this Friday, will keep you posted.

  13. i mentioned in my previous posts also...but your check will be cashed within 8 working days.....so, dont worry...everything's gonna be alright...

i was the same (or may be worse) as u and everyone else...i used to check my bank account online every day atleast 2-3 times!!!! :D

After 8 working days, my checks are finally getting cash! Hurray....I'm so broke now....:( hehe..jk....its totally worth it! Cheers to all! 8 is the magic number!

Hi Missyk...i just noticed that our packages where delivered on the same day and our checks were cashed on the same day too. I recieved my 3 NOAs in the mail, did you also yours?

Lets watch each other's time lines as we wait.

  14. Welcome, you are adjusting your status under K1, seems you will not have an interview, that's cool :star:

    Yay,Great,Aloe!

At least we got something from USCIS, I believe the biometrics letter will be in mailbox within this week for both you and me

    Have my best.......

Hi there! I am another who has just filed for AOS today. Looks like things are moving already for some of you here

Is anybody here hired a lawyer? I hired and already pay and it's non refundable....it's so treky i consult them my case and let me pay, after that they sent the list of requirements which is not even complete good thing i found this site and its so helful and i am going to follow what is the list of requirements in VJ to give more tips of my lawyer if i can just get back my money im going to do this myself...i find out that everything is here you just have to follow and do your best....than sending your papers to the lawyer and stock to their office and have to wait when are they going to forward to the immigration....this immigration thing is a headache....ugggghhh!...but have to sacrifice i love my wife...

"this immigration thing is a headache....ugggghhh!" Tell me about it. I don't know about being a lawyer but i would say, be patient as you read through all the guides and forums, you will get all the info u need....trust me...I DID AND YOU TOO CAN DO IT.

  15. Not sure what you mean but I was asking in general if the civil surgeon accepts insurance. Technically you do not go to the civil surgeon until after your married and in my case my company's insurance will be effective for my spouse the day of our marriage.

They do not accept any insurance for the immigration exam but you can do 2 things to reduce the cost. First talk to the civil surgeon and find out which shots u need [they vary from age to gender] then,

1- go to your public health department and get all the shots u need.......they are so much cheaper over there....and take your shot card with u to the civil surgeon.

2- use your family doctor who accepts your health insurance to get the shots, and some of the blood work done. Then take this documentation to the civil surgeon

Also make sure you call as many surgeons as you can to compare pricing....even if it means driving to a different town or city. [the one in my town costs $250 and the one in next town costs $150]
