so quick update. went to oath, my wife's officer announces my name before my oath ceremony, to ask whether my wife was there with me. and then he says that he never got time till today to review her file and approve it on the same day when my oath was ... grhhhh.

but he said, he is going to approve the file and she will get the oath letter in mail. all in all, it will be little incovenient to go again for the oath ceremony,, but thats ok.

all's well that ends well.

Take a photocopy of front and back of your DL as well asas the documents listedand above. Try to avoid the passport office on Meridian in SJ. I spent 4.5 hours waiting for my turn with only 30 people ahead of me. If you go during the week in Saratoga, they are usually fast. You can fillout the application online and print it out to save time. We didn't need any proof of legal entrance or foreign birth certificate.

4.5 hours at the passport office for minutes of attention. At least we are done now! We had ticket #24, arrived well before they opened and stullwaited that long!

Had my oath ceremony today, was a special event for "Earth Day" which was held outside at a wonderful gardens.

377 people from 63 countries were present.

I'm glad to now be officially a US citizen !

Congratulations! Where was it held? At ours, they projected images from all of the different countries as they called out the names. It was really awesome. I'm happy for you that you have finally finished the immigration journey!

My dad bought tickets through Travelocity using a US. credit card. No problem with his name on the bill. He just put the correct name in the passenger section. I think he just emailed the itinerary for use at the airport and to a obtain the boarding pass. I rhink it took about a week for the visa to arrive. I don't remember a sedex number, but that might be new.

Does it mean an I in line or they already scheduled my interview?? Does someone has any idea?

Yes. Your interview is already scheduled. You should get a letter in the mail very soon!

Use the permanent resident since date on your green card and add 3 years to that date. 90 days prior to the date, you can apply for naturalization. Hope that helps!

Greetings, everyone. I have a quick question I was wondering if you could help me with. My wife is scheduled for her Adjustment of Status interview on Monday. She's Brazilian. She speaks a little English, not a lot. Do we need to have a Portuguese translator there for the interview? Or can I do the translating? We had an outside translator set to go, but she has illness in her family and may not be available. Any other tips for the interview? Thank you very much!

We brought our own interpreter, but the io said I could translate instead. I don't think that is standard just depends on the io. Honestly I would try to find someone depending in how strong her English is. Some of the questions are very formally worded. Good luck with your interview!

Got the Oath ceremony letter handed to me at the office this morning after the interview was completed, which will be held next Friday. Guess I need to go out and buy a new suit for the occasion

Does anyone know if guests at the naturalization ceremony must have advance tickets to enter for the oath ceremony held in Campbell, CA? I saw something online about it from a couple of years ago. Our oath is today, and family is planning to attend, but we don't have tickets or anything. Any ideas??

We go at 3:00. I guess it must be pretty fast if they are planning to have everyone done and out of there by the next ceremony. I was told there is one at 9:30 as well. Congrats!

Nvc should send you something in the mail, but if you are impatient like I was, you can start calling after a week or so or email them. It's been taking linger for the cases to arrive there, but 2 weeks is probably average. Once you get the number starting with RDJ you can email the consulate. I wouldn't worry if it was USCIS that told you it was going to Brasilia. NVC automatically routes the cases to Rio. They don't have any other option.

The parking lot is medium size and fills quickly. We arrived at 7:30 and had no problem parking. There were only a couple of people ahead of us at security. It was fast. You need to remove shoes, jackets, belts, etc. after checking in at the desk. Then check in at the second desk and on to the waiting roim. We waited over an hour, but most people were called in pretty quickly. All the staff were very friendly. Good luck!
