  1. Whew! had me worried lol tyty

I know what you mean, Wendy. A few moments ago I had a momentary freak out when the notarized tax return question was asked!

Guess it should come as no surprise that our minds are playing tricks on us at this stage of the game! So much to remember!!

Best of luck to you as you head toward the finish! (of this part ;) )

  2. You do not need the I-864 at the interview stage, that will be sent for the Adjustment of Status. The I-134 is used for the interview. Here is a link to what is to be used to show proof of ability to support. You'll see tax return on there toward the bottom of the page. (FYI, it says it needs to be notarized but it doesn't, you can see that in the last post too.)

I sent my 2008 return and W2, then I got transcripts for 2007 and 2006. You can order tax transcripts over the phone for free through the IRS. They'll send them to you in a week or so. I also sent letter of employment and pay stubs for a couple months.

Here's the list of support evidence link for the embassy site...

  3. Looking at the link sent in Packet 3 it states that i need to get notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return; Does that mean i need to get Patrick to print his tax returns, get them notarized and then send them to me?

Nothing has to be notarized anymore. The I-134 used to have a space for a notary, and tax returns needed to be as well. But here is Nich-Nick answering that very question in August. I followed it, because I had the same question...

Hope this helps! Hooray to one small thing actually being easier than it used to be!

  4. Just wanted you to know that I've read your thoughts and I share your pain of waiting, as does everyone on this site. You are not alone. And it helps me to know that. Hang in there. The best things in life are worth working and waiting for. Your wife certainly sounds like one of those "best things." Your words about her are lovely. I hope you are reunited and beginning your happy life together very soon. (L)

  5. Thanks, gmj, for responding, and understanding. :) I just may talk to my fiance about doing that. Not sure he'll take the risk, but we'll see.

Also, I remember the recording at the DOS saying they close for one hour on Wednesdays. It was either 10-11 or 11-12am EST. Try back in an hour.

Thanks again. What would I do without all of you VJers? :star:

  6. Just spoke to DOS, and was told the same story again. Our case left the NVC on the 16th, London has it electronically but doesn't have the file yet. It can take two weeks, blahbitty blah.

    *SIGH*

Between the Royal Mail taking 2 weeks to get things to the embassy, and the embassy taking two weeks to process every little thing we send them, it has me pretty frustrated and worried. We want so badly to send off the packet 3 forms and the checklist, as we have everything ready to go. But with all this paper jam going on at the embassy, we're afraid to do so before they issue the P3 letter, especially considering they don't "physically have" our case yet. (still not sure what that means)

Sorry. Just venting. When we got approved early October and made it through NVC unscathed, my hopes got back up again for a Christmas reunion. Now they're sinking fast. Still trying to be hopeful though. I just hate racing the clock like this.

    K. pity party officially over. hee hee :P Thanks for reading.

  7. Once your file is in the system electronically (which means it is also there physically, but you only have a way of knowing the electronic part), you can go ahead with the medical, and you can even prepare all of packet 3 response from the link on the embassy's website.

    Marm,

He has his police cert. and has long ago downloaded and filled out the packet 3 forms. But just to clarify, we need to wait until my good friends at the DOS tell me that the embassy has SENT packet 3 before sending it all in along with the checklist, is that right?

We can't send it all in now just because we're in the system, can we? before they issue packet 3?

  8. Good for you, Marie!! Hey, after what you're going through, I'm sure it feels great to do ANYTHING proactive, that you can control! Whether it works or not it beats the heck out of sitting around!

I'll bet you anything you get a touch or some kind of action very soon now. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! :)

I'm doing well, by the way. Thanks for asking. We're moving along, slowly but surely. Between a kabillion filers and the Royal Mail strike in London, you're bound to pass us UK filers up once you get approved!

  9. Thank you ladies, good to know. :) And yeah, we do know our LND case number, I use it daily to call and bug DOS about our status.

And Neil went ahead and booked his medical since they told us on Friday we were in the system. I just didn't know if, when they sent the results of his medical to the embassy, they would know where to put it if they don't have our physical file. If that makes any sense.

But your answers cleared that up. Thanks!

  10. So then, my question is, if we're "electronically" in the system, they are aware of us and we obviously have a case number that we got from DOS, so we can we go ahead with, say, the medical? Or does there have to be a physical file with our paperwork in it to put the medical results in? I always heard, go ahead with your medical once you're in the system. So, are we in the system?:wacko:

Any thoughts or opinions on this?

  11. Awww, gmj, Justine and Julie and their Daves. :) That's pretty darn cute!

Justine, I'm actually a bit relieved that someone else heard that "electronically entered in without hard copy" thing. It makes me feel like it's a real option and not something made up by the woman I spoke with.

Julie, yes I think two weeks sounds about right. I know when people made them at the end of last week, their appt. day was the 9th. That may have been in this very thread a couple pages back. I know that Neil has his because it's his facebook status  but I haven't talked to him yet, he's still at work.

Speaking of which... in the "I'll take all the little good things I can get" department... I'm loving this one week between the UK daylight savings and ours here in the States. For two weeks each year, we're only 4 hours apart instead of 5.

Pathetic what thrills you in long distance relationships.

But it's our last daylight savings switch apart. Yay! This really is going to happen. We really are going to all be together!

  12. gmj,

Was it you Marm who said that the special delivery part of the Royal Mail is not affected by the strike? If not, my apologies to whoever said that. But if you do re-send the Checklist gmj, that is one option. It doesn't help for things the embassy sends us, like packet 3 or 4, since they use regular mail. But for things you send them, you could use special delivery. Might help a bit.

  13. Fantastic, lovewaits! So happy for you! (L) How wonderful to have it all come together so well for the wedding. You certainly don't need another thing to stress about after all this. That's what I keep saying - I don't CARE about the details of the wedding. I'll plan them, of course, but the stress of that is non-existent compared to all this.

My family is getting excited and more involved too. For a while I felt like they might not care too much about it. But I think while you're waiting for the NOA2 no one really knows what to do, and it's not much of a reality yet for them. But my sister and sister in law and mom are all helping a lot now, which is wonderful.

Congrats to you two! It's an inspiration to see someone reach the final stretch. :)

  14. I called DOS this morning, still could not confirm that London has received the box that DHL shows delivered on 10/19. She told me that it could take them as long as a month. She also told me that sometimes the embassies get the boxes and then don't open for awhile.

I guess they might take a bit since the box the day before was close to 50 pounds? It has been a week and I just really wish they would hurry up. Also, more postal strikes will happen this week, especially in London.

Are there any people lurking that have had this same issue with London?

    Hey Jewel,

We were delivered to London that same day, possibly in the same package. And on Friday when I called I was told we were in the system. But it was one of those people you talk to that sound like they may have wandered in off the street and answered the phone, I was wholly unsure that she knew what she was talking about.

So, I called again this morning to double check, because Neil wants to book his medical, and I spoke to another woman who said we were electronically in the system, but they didn't have the hard copy of our case yet. Ummm...not sure how that can even happen. But, they're running long enough with medicals right now, I'm hoping it'll be all received and entered into the system by the time he goes if we're "electronically" there.

Just thought I'd let you know. Did you ship out from DHL on the 16th? Because if so we're probably in that same package.

I want them to hurry up too...this part of the waiting to me has been the toughest...

Agreed. So close, and yet, sooooo far.

  15. Hi Everyone :-)

No no ... No updates. Lol

But I do have a question...

How many of you included a letter of intent in your k1 visa app??? This is for the uscis stage not for the respective consulate requirements.

    Thank you.

    Hey Marie,

Yeah, we sent letters of intent with our app back in July.

    Also, I sent you a message. :)

Hi to everyone... hope your respective journeys are going along well. :star:

  16. My Tamara goes for her Interview on November 12th

    I told her today

I thought she was going to come through the phone with excitment

This was a better reaction then the one of the NOA2

I do not know if she really understood what was happening with the first one

But she does understand this embassy and medical appointment

Awwww, yay! That's such great news! I'm so glad to hear she's excited and your concerns have been put to rest! :)

  17. Sorry to jump in, but now I'm paranoid, lol...

The notarized, updated letter of intent from the USC - I read that's only necessary if the interview is more than four months after NOA2, which would be their case in February, right?

It's not something needed across the board now, is it?

Just wondering, I'm readying my documents to send to my British fiance, and will include that, if needed.

    Thanks. :)

  18. Everything will be ok, maybe it will happen tonight or tomorrow

At the very least I hope things work for you, my Tamara when I got the news became scared to death and hasn't been the same since so much for good news crying.gif

G - What do you mean? Is she the USC or the beneficiary? I'm sorry to hear this, but the stress and reality can become a lot at this stage. There are lots of threads on here about ways to help her, and you KNOW we love to talk in this group. So we will help you brainstorm ways to make her feel better, you know we will. (F)
