  1. Is there anyone on VJ from Albania?? I went to the Disctrict Attorney's (Prokurori) office today to get the police certificate today and it was surprisingly easy! I handed in my passport, this lady took a look at me, wrote sth down and handed me a small piece of paper saying basically that i had no penal cases active...something like that. And the fee so pretty cheap. I read on wiki that to take this kind of document would take a long time, but I was done in 20 secs. so maybe i went to the wrong place. can anyone help?

Hi, there are three of them in total. My wife got two of them same day while the other one took a couple of days. They are...

    1. Republika e Shqiperise (GJykata e rrethit gjyqesor Tirane)

    2. Republika e Shqiperise (Ministria e Drejtesise - Drejtoria e Pergjithshme e Burgjeve) I think this is the major one and that it took a couple of days.

    3. Republika e Shqiperise ( Prokuroria)

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you very much! Appreciate your help! So I assume I'm gonna need to send all three of them when the time comes, right?

Yup. You need to send all three translated to NVC.

Thanks. And good luck on the interview!

  2. I have a question.

My wife needs to send me documents from Tirana.

What is the best way to get them here in USA?

I use FedEx to send to her but.....

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Rick

I would NOT suggest regular mail. It's very slow and very unreliable. I don't know about the other options beniecenvet is talking about, but I don't really trust the Albanian mail system. I always use DHL to send documents to my husband in the States and he always gets them in 1-2 days (except if you send it on friday, it'll take an extra 2 days cuz of the weekend). It's a little bit more expensive than regular mail but I think it's worth it, especially for documents.

  3. :help: ......anyone?

AS LONG AS YOU HAVE PCC FROM YOUR PREVIOUS PLACE YOU LIVED DURINGG THOSE TIME AND IT STATED YOUR NAME, DOB, AGE, AND YOU USED TO LIVE THAT PLACE AND ALSO STATED IN THE PCC THAT YOU HAVE NO CRIMINAL RECORDS THAT IS GOOD. THE HEADER SHOULD STATE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, IN YOUR CASE, THE DA, DATE AND IF THE PCC HAVE EXPIRATION. IN DUBAI, FOR MY WIFE CASE IT TOOK HER 10 DAYS, WHEN SHE DID HERS IN HER HOMETOWN IN CEBU TOOK ABOUT 10 MINS SO EACH COUNTRY IS DIFFERENT.

PCC NEED TO CONSIST OF YOUR NAME, DOB, FROM TO DATE (MAY VARY), CITY YOU LIVED, APPROVING AUTHORITY AND SHOULD STATES THAT HAVE NO CRIMINAL RECORDS OR ANY NEGATIVE INFORMATION ON YOU. K, MAYBE I AM REPEATING MYSELF... BOTTOME LINE EACH CITY OR COUNTRY IS DIFFERENT... GOODLUCK!

Thank you for answering. You are right, every country is different. Thanks to beniecenvet (who has an experience with the procedures in Albania) now I know I wasn't really wrong, I just have to go to 2 other places to get it completed. Anyway, I appreciate your imput. TY! :)

  5. Hey you guys, I have a question which is completely off topic. I'm sorry but this is the only thread where I see some Albanians (or spouses of Albanians). I had a question about the Police Certificate. Does any of you (or your Albanian spouses) know where to get it? I already went to the reciprocity site, but there were three different options and I don't know which one is about my case. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the three options at the Albania Reciprocity Schedule:

    Police Records

Currently, to obtain a criminal document from the District Attorney's office concerning pending and final criminal and civil cases, one needs to go to the District Attorney's office in the district of their residence, present an ID and pay the necessary fee.

To obtain a document from the District Court concerning any active court cases, one needs to go to the District Court office in one's district of their residence, present and ID and pay the necessary fee.

To obtain a criminal court certificate from the Office of Judicial Status, one needs to go to the Office of Judicial Status in Tirana from Monday through Friday at 8:00 a.m., present an ID and pay the necessary fee.

Again, I'm so sorry for barging in. Hope you understand. :innocent:

Thank you, but I already went there and I decided the first instance was about my case so I went to the District Attorney's office...but now I'm not so sure. s Which one of these 3 cases concerns me? (if you can help)

  7. Hey everyone, I went to the District Attorney's office today to get my Police Certificate and they just handed me a little piece of paper saying I didn't have any penal/criminal cases (smth like that), payed a truly significant fee and that was that. Did I go to the right place? Cuz I read on Wiki that to get the police certificate may take a long time....or maybe thats how it works in my country....I'm confused. Can you guys help?

  9. hi everyone! first, i just wanted to say that i wish i had known about this website sooner!! its so helpful and informative thanks to all you guys sharing your experiences. ive been reading for the past few days and learned a lot of stuff i had no idea before.

ok, now on to my question. my husband received the NOA2 on Feb 26th. and i was just wondering about the 'NVC journey'. on average, how long does this process last until you get the interview date appointed? ive been trying to figure it out by looking at the timelines but its kinda confusing. in some cases it lasts 3 months, some others 7 months and for others its only a matter of days. maybe it is a dumb question...if it is, im sorry :innocent: thank you.

It could take a feww weeks to several months at NVC for Ds,3032, Ds 230 and I-864. All depends whether u will have RFE/AP or not. After the case is completed, it also depends on the capacity of that the embassy could hold interview that months.

some could get right away in sme month, some takes more than 5 months.

just Have patience and gather all documents u'll need for NVC.

I apologize for the ignorance, but what is RFE/AP? And also, is it better if we call the NVC from time to time to ask if they got our application and stuff like that - as I've read some people do - or should we just let them do their own thing?

And one last question: at this point in our process, according to your experiences is the worst part behind us or the worst is yet to come?

RFE = Request for evidence (if they need more info) or you made a mistake on a form.

AP = Additional processing - more security checks (FBI/State)

I would not call NVC unless your past the projected time listed on your NOA2. Can you imagine if the thousands of people doing this just "called" time to to time?

They are very skilled in this process and usually handle it in a timely manner. Only worry if your past the average time.

Hmmm - seems most people have issues at the interview/medical. I'm sure if you do a search here, you can see the posts. (also, when you find a post, say about denial for medical, it will list "like" posts below so you can read more).

    Good luck!

Thank you so much for clearing this up for me and for the advice. Good luck to you too!

  10. the speed at which you can get through the NVC portion depends alot on you and how prepared you are for the steps. on this site at the top you will see the WIKI link. there are shortcuts to making the NVC portion very fast. the key is to be prepared for the next step before it comes. The first thing you need to do is get your NVC case number and then call NVC to see if your DS-3032 has been generated. Once it is don't wait for NVC to send the hard copy to you, send it via E-mail using the temp plate in the shortcuts.

Thank you very much for your advice! Greatly appreciate it!
