I know our case is at the NVC. my sweeties mom knows the senator and had him call uscis, which I don't think sped up anything, but the senator followed up and found out that our case is at the NVC. just don't know when they got it. The senator said that he will make sure it will only be at nvc for a week. I am interested to see how that will work out. I will call tomorrow too to find out the exact dates and our new case number.
Good news for you! I just called NVC, and they have not received our case yet. In a little while, I will call USCIS to ensure that it has been sent. When you called NVC did you give just the NOA2 receipt number or did they look it up by name? I am thinking that their system may not recognize the receipt number bec it is not linked to USCIS. Thanks!
just called nvc to find out when they got our case. gave them our uscis # wacxxxxxxxxx and guess what they told me it is not in their system yet. so my guess is that uscis has sent it but it wasn't put in the nvc system yet. she also asked me if I have the approval notice in front of me which I didn't. haven't talked to my sweety today yet, so don't know if he got it in the mail yet. not sure why she asked about it. is there a new case number on it?
different question. those of you filling out the forms for the consulate. I find that there is little room for answers on some forms. for previous visas I had to fill out similar forms and never had to make attachments. this time there are at least three question where there is not enough room for my answers. is there any way to change the font size?
hope everyone is doing good. hope we see some more marchers get approved. go csc go (vsc too of course)

Anyone else who was approved on March 12th know if their file was received by NVC? I plan to call tomorrow to find out. Good luck to everyone, and for those still waiting for approvals, stay strong. Your NOA2 is coming!

noticed the april approvals. again and again uscis seems to be wanting to confuse us. there is absolutely no logic explanation. happy for those who got their noa2 already. feel for those who are still waiting. hang in there. hopefully you will all be approved soon.

I would say to list any of the J1 visa places you stayed for more than 6 months (only if they were 6 months on their own though, not if you came and went several times) as you did live there, you may not have been an immigrant but you were living there. Theres another form that will ask you about your visa's you have received so they will be able to put them together, no worries. If you don't list them you run the risk of them questioning why you did not list living in the states on your J1. I have read other people putting down tourist visa's they had to other countries for over the 6 months as well, as it asks where you lived, not where you were a resident, but technically any place you stay for an extended period of time is a residency, even if its not with immigrant intent.
As for NVC, my petition was approved on a Monday and they did not log it until the Friday (which they couldnt see on the Friday, but on the Monday they could) so if they just got it on Friday I would call again Friday to see if its logged. If the person asks you beneficiary name and such, then they have it
thank you danu. You mentioned what I was afraid of when I don't list them. Don't want to give them the impression that I am trying to hide something when there is no reason to. I have had a j-1 three times and each was over 6 months, that's what I will list.
menina: just tried to check our case online, but systems not working right now. says they are doing maintenance. guess they are not done yet.

Fran... you already know your case number?
no, I told her all I had was my USCIS number and she told me to give that to her. She said she couldn't see our case yet.
what do you think about my question? Have you worked on the forms yet? wait, you are the usc ,right?
just want to get done and be prepared when I get packet 3

I am filling out the forms I need to send back to the consulat or bring to the interview. On the form DS-230 question 30 is where I have a question.
30. List below all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16, including places in your country of nationality.
Begin with your present residence.
I have been to the US for more than 6 months on j-1 visas, BUT do I have to list them here? I would think not, because I have never had residency in the US. If they would have said STAYED and not LIVED I would list them. Don't want to make a mistake. Tried to find answeres online and tried to call consulate even NVC, which the internet told me to do when having questions about ds-230. they were surprised and wanted me to call uscis. thought it be a waste of time to call the misinformation line though.
btw Asked NVC if they had our case yet, but negative.
hope somebody can help me. always get so freaked out about making a mistake when filling out those forms.
thanks,
fran

Alrighty! A little update, our first package got lost so they sent me a new one on Tuesday which has already made it here, sending it back today to put ourselves in queue for the interviews!
glad you got your packet 3 in the end. how annoying when already waiting forever your mail gets lost. hope packet 4 has an easier trip and that your interview date is soon. still more or less patienly waiting for our noa2. must be a matter of days though. hopefully.
also good luck to the rest of us waiting

Congrats you two. Have a great trip to the US and good luck with the rest of the process!

Congratulations! Did you receive the email today (July 4th)?
It was sent out today: 3rd July.
Still kinda recovering from the shock at the moment. Had been hoping to hear something soon, but kinda expecting something next week (if we were lucky). This is great news, though I really need to read up now and find out what happens next.
Congrats guys! great news. have a great weekend recovering from the shock
-
we got the email on the 26th saying they had sent out a letter for more info. We are still waiting on the letter
what a bummer. you'd think they could write online what they want. doesn't really take longer to write an email than it takes to type up a letter.
it has slowed down way too much at csc also.......
-
come on csc! we need more approvals. two in one week isn't enough. anyways what happenend to you working in sundays. that worked so well last week.
hey danu, have you heard from your consulate yet?
how is everyone else?
-
Thank you to all the messages. Matt and I are just so happy today. After six years, we will finally be together in few months hopefully
I so wish that all March filers will get their NOA2 approval SOON!
yay. congratulations!!

RIP paula. My thoughts are with your husband and family.

Makes me wonder if all this hope i had is just going to turn out to be an rfe as well..3 months or more to get that is unacceptable..
espcially when i see this: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry3057052
non expedited k1 at VSC 22 day approval..#######...
that to me is like a joke or they got confused. Seems like have fun confusing us all, so every once in a while they pull out a recently sent petition and approve it. who knows....time for some more approvals though. been 3 weeks tomorrow since the first marchies got their approval. keep moving csc (and vsc of course)
-
got another touch and an RFE :crying:
sorry to hear that. I agree with danu and rob in cali that you should sent the requested evidence as soon as you've gathered it and you will be approved soon after that.
still understand you are being upset, I would be too.
Good luck

Approval notice on USCIS and email from them received about 30 mintues ago.
Timeline updated!!!
Congratulations! I feel like I am repeating myself since almost every post I write says congratulations.
But guess what: I LOVE IT!!!
-
This is just a quick note!! I'll update it soon with the details, but I can't hold back!!!
WE GOT THE VISA!!!!!! And I've fallen in love with the Vancouver Consulate!! LOL LOL They are soooo nice there, as well as the medical doctor! I'm exhausted right now, but I plan on coming back soon to tell you the details. She had me laughing!!
Thanks to everyone here..for support and answers, and all your wisdom!! I'm so glad to have this big stress over and done with so we can lock in our wedding plans now!!
God is good!!!!
Congratulations! I just noticed your wedding date. My friends' wedding is on the same day. I am really hoping I can make it to their wedding in the US. I'll be having a drink on you guys at their wedding

Having my guy here with me at the moment is making me realize how desperately I want to be with him permanently. Ah well, we've got the next 3 months together until then. Better than those of you that are faced with having to wait until your visas are sorted. I certainly feel for you all.
British customs are getting really, really difficult about him visiting here so much though. Even with his proof of our I-129F petition, they said they didn't care and were still unhappy about letting him in. They did, but we wonder whether they'll do so next time. They seemed to only allow him in very grudgingly. They told him he should get a visa, but I don't know what visa we'd be able to get in time for his next trip to England.
But he's here now, and hopefully we'll get some good news in the next week or so with our I-129F approval. I just hope we don't get an RFE.
Isn't this crazy. If you think about that all we want to do is enjoy our lifes together which is already hard, because of the long distance. and then we always have to ask for permission to see each other. plus we are given a hard time at poe. really doesn't seem fair.
Wish you guys a great time together. i am sure your noa2 will come soon. Question on the side. did you guys hire somebody to check his mail everyday (lol)

here is the link to the document checklist my consulat (frankfurt) is sending out. If you read through it, it also lists the ds-157 which I always that was for male applicants only, but on the checklist it says the form applies to all applicants from age 16.

hope I could help you with this link
