  1. But what's the nearest hotel to the embassy among them?

The Bayview Park is the closest one amongst them all. It sits right across the street from the Embassy.

  2. Reading about good and successful marriages is great. good.gif My husband and I have been on cloud nine since 2008. yes.gif We have "little spats" like any other couple and the spats have helped us understand each other more and brought us closer together. We found true love and absolute happiness in our marriage. We are best friends. We are soul mates. We intend to be bound together thru eternity. That's how we roll. star_smile.gifheart.gif

To those that are going through the process; All the pain and angst from being apart will pass. It will fade like a bad dream once you are together. The emptiness and feeling of being half awake will be replaced with the full feeling of being complete and alive! yes.gif

  3. Congratulations. I don't mean to be nosy but I'm not a fan of carrots but your cake sounds delicious lol. Congrats again.

    Thank you very much! smile.png

That's fine. star_smile.gif Same here... I'm not a big fan of it either but if it's a cake, I'm all over it. Lol. biggrin.png My cake... Thank you! I think best way to describe it is - it's quite addictive! blush.pngyes.gif We'd share some with our immediate neighbor(s) and they'd always "hint" us for more. laughing.gif

  4. Hi everyone! star_smile.gif Thank you very much for all the nice words and congrats! smile.pnggood.gif

Having reached the "finish line" is a wonderful accomplishment for my husband and I. During the (naturalization) process, I don't recall ever having the- so called "mixed emotions" until I began the instant of "The Oath of Allegiance". The oath taking ceremony was a very special yet emotional moment, indeed.

In five years, we have accumulated tons of immigration-related documents. So, as my (citizenship lady) interviewer says; - "after 5 long years, now we can finally put this "huge file" to "rest". biggrin.png

Our entire immigration journey may have taken a bit longer than we expected but, I am very happy and thankful, aside from hitting a "small bump" with St. Luke's, we successfully made it over to each and every "hurdle".

I thank God for always being with us, especially throughout the visa process. The whole "visa event" caused us a tremendous amount of stress but, I don't regret it because now my life is happy and complete! Why? Because my husband and I are together forever!

I also THANK Him for blessing me with a more intelligent and excellent husband than I could ever ask for. Hubby was my strength when we were apart, and has been my life since the moment he captured and made my heart whole. heart.gif

Again, thank you all and best wishes!

  5. To everyone that have successfully finished their interviews and oath ceremonies, and/or have been scheduled for such, Congratulations! good.gif

And to all our fellow June filers that are still waiting, good luck! May you all reach the "finish line" easy and smoothly. good.gif

  6. oops! lol I thought it was the 2nd today. My Husband is a DHS employee, so this shutdown has my mind a little flustered. But anyhow, thanks for joining the rest of us on this journey, and allowing us to follow yours as well. Hope you do something to celebrate, and again, congrats! dancin5hr.gif

Thank you very much and you're most welcome! No worries about the error. smile.png I can imagine the frustration this "government shutdown" is causing you. I hope it will be over soon and hoping you'll get to take your oath soon too.

Hubby and I had a "celebratory lunch" right after the oath ceremony. We had a "potluck" get together with friends the following day and, I made (Pineapple-Carrot & Chocolate) cakes to complete the (celebration) party. star_smile.gif

Thank you also for updating our timeline, by the way. I really appreciate it. rose.gifgood.gifsmile.png

Best of luck to you and the rest of your journey! smile.png

  8. I would have thought you would get the same day oath since it's on Monday morning. Anyway, congrats!

Thank you, happyzac! smile.png I know... We (Hubby and I) were in fact, very disappointed that I wasn't able to take the oath ceremony yesterday. Oh well... 2 more days... yay! star_smile.gif

    Thank you, happilycontent! smile.png

  9. A decision cannot yet be made about your application.

    sad.png

I passed the test, but the officer said I traveled a lot to Brazil... She has to check the law and then make a decision... I stayed in Brazil less then 18 months total (15 if I'm correct)...

Now I have to wait a denial letter or an oath letter...

    sad.png

Sorry to hear that... Hoping they'll approve your case soon. rose.gif

  10. Hello Folks,

Today was a wonderful day! I had my interview this morning and was approved painlessly! Yay!!! kicking.gif And... So three (3) more days and I will become a US Citizen! Ha!!! smile.pngsmile.png

Congratulations to everyone and good luck to those who are still waiting. star_smile.gif

  11. Thank you, Brijo and stay positive. God bless your little man with good health, if you can, please keep us updated.

Congrats to everyone who passed their interview and also those of you who have already received your naturalization certificate.

I had my appointment at 10am and after a 2 hour delay, passed my interview. They were so behind that they were telling people to go get something to eat, luckily my time slot was next, though. My interview was only 7 minutes long. I was slightly distrated by the guy next door getting all the wrong answers and his IO getting really frustrated :/ it's odd that they coach them and give them so much help to answer the questions even after they answer wrong. That guy obviously didn't study. But anyhow, I am so glad it's over with. Here are the questions I was asked..

What month do we elect a president?

We elect a US senator for how many years?

Who is the chief justice of the united states now?

Name one war fought by the united states in the 1900's?

The house of representatives has how many voting members?

We elect a president for how many years?

I had a hard time remembering what questions I was asked because I still can't believe the guy in the next room.. One of his questions was what ocean is on the west coast? She even told him that the Atlantic is on the east coast and he still got it wrong. Also, I felt over dressed because mostly everyone was wearing casual clothes. I wasn't asked to bring anything other than my passport, interview letter and a government issued id, and he only asked to see my gc and driver's license even though I had a few trips outside the country. Ok, well, time to go out and celebrate with our kiddos. Best of luck to everyone on your interview, don't sweat it, it'll be a piece of cake!

Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your great (interview) experience with us. good.gif

Had my Oath Ceremony today. Wife and kids plus the in-laws were able to attend. 53 people from 26 different countries.

    Congrats! good.gif

@Brijo- I hope everything turns out well. Best wishes to your family, especially to your son.

  12. Lol! It makes me chuckle when pobre people call a helpful thread "stupid" and suggest others are "squanderers" because we/they prefer to stay at a better place. smile.png

Insecurities driven by inferiority complexes are sometimes so easy to see. Over and over the same people make a joke of themselves. wink.png

  13. The interview was very easy. My appointment was for 9. I arrived at 8:45, went thru the security checkpoint, handed in my appointment letter at the reception desk and was asked to wait. In about 10 minutes, I was called by an IO. We walked down the hallway to the officer's office; exchanging pleasantries on the way. The officer had my file ready. She verified some of the information that I had filled in my N400 application (DOB, address, part of any group/committee, have I every registered to vote, tried to overthrow a government etc). I had listed a couple of minor traffic violations on my N400 - she asked proof that I had paid the fines (I gave her the printouts from the courts' website showing the payment). she included those printouts in my file. Then asked me the 6 civic questions (who was the 1st president, what do u pledge alligence to? who is the governor of my state? what is the capital of my state? state 3 federal holidays? where is the statue of Liberty). She then asked me to read a sentence in English and dictated the answer to me (which I had to write down).

She then told me that she is approving my case and recommending me for Oath/Citizenship. She also informed me that I will be notified on the exact date/time of the Oath by mail.

The whole process took less than 10 minutes.

Congratulations! good.gif (and) Thank you for sharing your experience with us. star_smile.gif
