  1. BEWARE THE OBAMA 'EVIL EYE'

As the summer begins, White House watchers have spotted a new look by President Obama: The Evil Eye!

Staffers have joked about the menacing glance, which comes when the president meets with world leaders who are not aligned with his progressive view.

White House photographers have captured the "evil eye" in recent weeks, during sessions with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Colombia's Alvaro Uribev.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi got hit with the commander's malocchio last week in the Oval office.

And at least one White House reporter has been on the receiving end of the daggers during a press conference.

    Developing...

    http://drudgereport.com/flashoe.htm

IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) Drudge report is full of BS.

  2. I mailed my I-751 and it was received on 06/17. My green card will expire on 07/03.

My cheques have not been cashed and I have not received any notices.

If I don't receive my NOA before it expires what should I do?

Will someone point me towards an appropriate contact # so I can check up on my application?

The Guide has no information on what to do in such a situation.

Should I not work when my card expires?

    Hi BexandDavid,

You should have applied at leat 50-60 days before your GC was gonna expire if you were gonna file late to avoid such situation. Always be safe than sorry when dealing with USCIS.

YuAndDan has given you great advice. make an infopass ASAP which will be couple of weeks down the road and ask the officer there what's going with your case.

The number you asking for is called "mis-information" line as doesn't really help and they just read off the script or from the computer screen.

    So please make an infopass

Normally you should get NOA in a week to 2 week or atleast a month. If you don't get NOA in 30-45 days since you applied you make an infopass appointment for your nearest USCIS field office.

    https://infopass.uscis.gov/info_en.php

Will tell you the field based on your location.

On the 1st page choose "You need Service on a case that has already been filed " and then on the next page choose "If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment."

Go to Info pass appointment before appointment time (10-30 mins) and ask the IO (Immigration Officer) that you applied for I-751 and didn't get NOA and would like I-551 stamp on your passport.

Since you didn't get the NOA they will easily give you a stamp on your passport which will extend your work and stay for 1 year (which is 1 year added to the date your GC expires e.g GC expires 05-01-009 will be extended to 05-01-10)

    Hope it helps.

    Good Luck.

  3. Hi everybody

I received my 10 yr card today.. Approval 27th april at csc from vsc...card production email was June 16th and tJen another email June 27th saying that approval was sent..

thanks to everybody on this forum

onward to citizenship in october this year..

Congratulations!. Finally you can be calm now. I know you were very worried about getting the card. Hope N400 goes smooth for you. Good Luck for it.

  4. He did!

Hey fella, what's your problem? stfu!

May I ask whom were you addressing?

    Thanks

He was most definitely talking to you.

    I most certainly was.

I can take jokes just as well as the next guy. I've been known myself to make fun of my peepulz (the J00z), and can accept such jokes when they are intended as humor and are funny.

What I do not tolerate are comments which are NOT funny and NOT proportionate.

In comparing n00bz on VJ to Jews in the Holocaust you wrote: "Not exact comparison, but was trying to make an analogy"

There is no analogy whatsoever to be made there.

I realize you were not intentionally trying being offensive, and I'm not gonna make a big deal of this.

But perhaps think on your words a bit... they were out of place.

getting our freshly minted K1 tomorrow, having POE on Friday.
    Congratulations, si man! :)
what is a civil surgeon anyway?
A civil sturgeon is a polite, caviar-producing fish, si man.

    Hi scandal and others,

Please calm down. My intention was not to joke related to this tragedy but replied to the person who was saying, "if you are n00b, step up etc". The point was since a lot of bashing goes on here, so it' s like saying "Hey i am ready to be ridiculed" etc.

Indeed words should be chosen wisely. Point taken for the future. Thanks for the pointers. Sorry who got offended, the intention was not at all to do that.

I am glad that folks were kind enough to make this thread go further and include their input which makes other understanding their view point or clear questions or mis-conceptions which others might have.

    Thanks Guys

  5. Hello again fellow vj'ers,

I am ready to submit my documents for the removal of my condition. My Green card expires on Sept. 27,2009.

Is it best to wait another week to send the application?as i am planning to send it this week..ior is it too early?Am afraid to send it too early for fear they might send it back to me?

    I appreciate any ideas.

    Using this http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html

The 90 day window starts on June 29th. I agree with what John said. Don't send it now wait a few more days. If you send it exactly on the 90th day ore before

USCIS will return your application saying you filed too soon.

So send somewhere around 86,87th days beforr your GC expires. Filing early is good but not around or before 90 day window.

    Good Luck.

  6. I promise to be the biggest a$$hole on the upper forums EVER, and ask the most asinine questions, and be as rude as possible to helpful Elders.

sounds a bit uppity comrade... maybe, a nice 30 days in #6 re-eduction camp is needed..?

I concur.... seems to me he needs a bit of discipline....

and I'm with Tavo on this one: I am an equal opportunity PWNER  (muy buena, hermano)

Hmm... and u shall be the one to mete out said discipline?

I think you look better in the bunny outfit. I'll let Mistress Amby do the spanking, thanks muchly!

nOObs are the spice of life. They give the geriatric members something to do besides drool into their drool cups.

    If you think you're a n00b, please show up! :D And say you're a n00b!`

I shouldn't say this but I will say this, your comment reminded me of something like:

"Hey this is holocaust, please stand up and say you that you are Jew". Not exact comparison,

but was trying to make an analogy :).

    No you didn't.

    He did!

Hey fella, what's your problem? stfu!

May I ask whom were you addressing?

    Thanks

I wonder that's the real identity of this so called Immigrant hmmm :reading:

He's Neo .... and is in The Matrixxxxx

Indeed I am the "Immigrant Neo". I am the one :P. :D

nOObs are the spice of life. They give the geriatric members something to do besides drool into their drool cups.

    Nicely put Sir.

  8. Anyone?

ain't no "elders" on this board. just the old fools heckling off the balcony like in the muppet show.

    did you google that. too?

Its the small pecker syndrome. Some people buy big trucks others hate on noobs.

Question, when are you not considered a noob?

    good one...

    lol..at the junior psychologist.

.no one hates nOObs here..it was a joke and that was it....but you asking demonstrating to me,. that you are indeed a nOOb...j/k

    :)

  9. If you think you're a n00b, please show up! :D And say you're a n00b!`

I shouldn't say this but I will say this, your comment reminded me of something like:

"Hey this is holocaust, please stand up and say you that you are Jew". Not exact comparison,

but was trying to make an analogy :).

  10. I have been very unhelpful in the immigration related topics for a long time, so "noob" behavior does not bother me since I rarely read it. It hardly exists to me. I helped people once, a long time ago.

Likewise. I've forgotten 90% of what I did.

It doesn't matter since they probably changed things and we'd give wrong advice. If we file for citizenship eventually, I might have to go back 'up there', into the immigration section.:lol:

Yeah i was up there when we N-400'd, it was awful!

I'm a n00b, so I'm still actively in the process. We just had our interview, getting our freshly minted K1 tomorrow, having POE on Friday. So exciting times!

In a few months I'll be asking incredibly n00bish questions about AOS filings... what the ** is a civil surgeon anyway? And what's a " Chicago lockbox"? Is that where Mayor Daley is stashing social security checks?

I promise to be the biggest a$$hole on the upper forums EVER, and ask the most asinine questions, and be as rude as possible to helpful Elders.

    Nicely explained.

  11. Anyone?

I think your definition is not correct.

Noob = someone who thinks they know it all, and even when the evidence is against them, they continue on a noob glory trip.

Newb = someone who is new, asking questions, and helping to find their own answers.

    IMO

Now - I rarely bash people, if they become noobish in a thread, I walk away. Similar to not feeding Trolls.

Thanks Bobby_Umit, you are very kind VJ elder . I have seen you reply to a lot of questions with kindness.

  12. LONDON – For men with fertility problems, some doctors are prescribing a very conventional way to have a baby: more sex.

In a study of 118 Australian men with damaged sperm, doctors found that having sex every day for a week significantly reduced the amount of DNA damage in their patients' sperm. Previous studies have linked better sperm quality to higher pregnancy rates.

The research was announced Tuesday at a meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology in Amsterdam.

Dr. David Greening of Sydney IVF, a private fertility clinic in Australia, and colleagues looked at 118 men who had damaged sperm. Greening and colleagues told the men to have sex every day for a week. After seven days, the doctors found that in 81 percent of the men, there was a 12 percent decrease in the amount of damaged sperm.

Many fertility experts suggest men abstain from sex before their partners have in-vitro fertilization, to try to elevate their sperm counts.

Sperm quality can also be improved if men don't smoke, drink moderately, exercise, or get more antioxidants.

Since concluding the study, Greening says he now instructs all couples seeking fertility advice to start by having more sex. "Some of the older men look a little concerned," he said. "But the younger ones seem quite happy about it."

Experts think sex helps reduce the DNA damage in sperm by getting it out of the body quickly; if sperm is in the body for too long, it has a higher chance of getting damaged.

Some experts said that while Greening's research is promising, it doesn't prove that daily sex for men with fertility problems will actually produce more babies.

Greening said he and his colleagues are still analyzing the study data to determine how many women got pregnant.

"Looking at sperm DNA is just one part of the puzzle," said Bill Ledger, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Sheffield, who was not connected to the research. "Maybe this will improve pregnancy rates, but we still need to do more studies."

Ledger said instructing couples with infertility problems to have more sex could stress their relationship. "This may add even more anxiety and do more harm than good," he said. He said couples shouldn't feel pressured to adjust their sex lives just for the sake of having a baby.

Greening said the study's findings were ultimately very intuitive. "If you want to have a baby, our advice is to do it often."

    Seems like BS to me.

  13. Is there any reason to believe we as a nation will not, state by state, become what California is now becoming>?

    California, Here We Come!

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- In just a few weeks time, California hits the wall.

And Americans should take a good, long look at the fiscal and social wreck of the Golden Land, because California is at a place to which all of America is heading.

In May, when five fund-raising proposals were put on the ballot, Gov. Schwarzenegger pleaded with the overtaxed Californians not to make their state "the poster child for dysfunction."

As The Economist writes, "On May 18th, they did exactly that."

Arnold went to the White House for U.S. loan guarantees for new state bonds. But with the president's approval rating wilting because of a belief he is spending too much, the Obama-ites slammed the door.

In Sacramento, a Republican blocking force is resisting any new tax revenue. And with the state under a constitutional mandate to balance its budget, yet facing a $24 billion deficit this July, a chainsaw is about to be taken to state government.

Some 38,000 of 168,000 state prisoners may be released. As Barack Obama is pushing universal health insurance, California will cut Medi-Cal for the poor. Education will be slashed, resulting in a shortened school year, thousands of laid-off teachers, school closings and an end to summer programs in a system that has plummeted from the nation's best to one of its worst, as measured by dropout rates and academic achievement.

The 10 campuses of the University of California face cuts that may result in 50,000 fewer students and 5,000 fewer teachers.

What makes her fiscal crisis relevant to us all is not only that California is our most populous state, with one in eight Americans living there, but California has a gross domestic product larger than Canada's.

Moreover, the demography of California today is the demography of America tomorrow, just as the social and fiscal policies of California in the last decade mirror those of the U.S. government today.

One-third of all U.S. wage-earners today have been amnestied from paying U.S. income taxes, as the top 1 percent haul fully 40 percent of that huge load. So, too, in California, the well-to-do and the wealthy are hammered, which is why many have quietly closed their businesses, packed and gone back over the mountains whence their fathers came.

Under George W. Bush and Obama, the U.S. government has undertaken huge new responsibilities: No Child Left Behind, Medicare prescription drug benefits, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the takeovers of banks and auto companies, bailouts without end and national health insurance.

California, too, spent lavishly in the fat years and issued bonds when state revenues did not cover the costs, bringing its once-sterling credit rating down to the nation's lowest. So, too, U.S. Treasury bonds, T-bills and the American dollar are now increasingly suspect.

Demographically, California is where America will be in 2040.

White folks, who are leaving California as they did in the millions in the 1990s, are below half the population. Hispanics, their numbers surging due to legal and illegal immigration, are well over a third of the population. The African-American share of California's population is also falling, as the Asian share is rising, again from immigration.

Los Angeles, which is what most large American cities will look like, is the most diverse city on earth. Has diversity been a strength?

In the prisons and jails, and among the scores of thousands in street gangs and the underclass, a black-brown civil war is underway.

In October 2006, the Financial Times reported the findings of the famed author of "Bowling Alone" on what diversity has wrought:

"A bleak picture of the corrosive effects of ethnic diversity has been revealed in research by Harvard University's Robert Putnam, one of the world's most influential political scientists. His research shows that the more diverse a community is, the less likely its inhabitants are to trust anyone -- from their next-door neighbor to the mayor."

"In the presence of diversity, we hunker down," said Putnam. "We act like turtles. The effect of diversity is worse than had been imagined. And it's not just that we don't trust people who are not like us. In diverse communities, we don't trust people who do look like us."

"Professor Putnam," said the Financial Times, "found trust was lowest in Los Angeles, 'the most diverse human habitation in human history.'"

Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan carried California nine times. But the state is now a fiefdom of liberalism. John McCain's share of the vote was smaller than Barry Goldwater's. California today believes in Big Government, open borders, diversity, multiculturalism and the politics of compassion. But what liberalism has wrought in California, its native-born are fleeing.

Still, where California is at, America is headed.

Californians who are running away from the communities and towns in which they were raised have Arizona, Idaho, Colorado, Utah and Nevada to head to. But when all of America arrives at where California is at today, where do the Americans run to?

  14. A Chinese budget airline has applied for permission to sell cut price standing room only tickets.

    1513604.jpg

Passengers would pay a reduced price to stand in the aisles during flights, reports IC Media.

Spring Airlines president Wang Zhenghua said tickets would go on sale as soon as the government agreed the proposals.

He said he was confident of government backing - as the idea had been suggested by China's vice premier Zhang Dejiang.

"He suggested that, for a lower price, passengers should be able to get on a plane like catching a bus, with no seat, no luggage consignment, no food, no water, but very convenient," said Wang.

He added that the company had consulted with Airbus, the company which built most of its aeroplanes, and had been told the proposals were safe.

"So once the government approves it formally, we'll try it," said Wang.

  16. WORCESTER, Mass. - A 7-year-old boy who authorities say was severely beaten by his dad on Father's Day has died in Massachusetts. UMass Memorial Medical Center nursing supervisor Elaine Grady said Sunday that Nathaniel Turner was removed from a ventilator early Saturday morning.

Nathaniel was declared brain dead Tuesday after his father allegedly slammed the boy's head against a wall in his Worcester home so hard that it left a dent.

Leslie Schuler and his live-in girlfriend are charged with assault, but authorities have said they are now conducting a murder investigation. Their lawyers didn't immediately return phone calls seeking comment Sunday.

Results of an autopsy performed Saturday are expected in a few weeks.

Nathaniel had been living with his father since Memorial Day.
