This is a very good topic! I have the exact same question. Hubby and I are married since August, 2009. He received his Green Card in October. Do i claim him on my 2009 Tax Return?
-
humm... when I submitted my hubby's I693, he had his medical in April 2009 in Korea. so i just had our civil surgeon fill in the vaccination part. All others were crossed out N/A. and we didn't receive any RFE.
I think the easiest way to get this out of your way is to do another whole new medical! I mean what else can you do?
-
Don't worry, thinking ahead always stresses you out! I was there once.
Once you are married and received the certified copy of your marriage certificate, you can start compiling all of the information you need for AOS.
I693, since she has already finished her medical within 1 year the USCIS should have her medical examination and she does not need to perform her medical over again. Now there is the vaccinations proofs that she needs, so that does need to be submitted during the AOS process. All you need to do is to find a civil surgeon and then have him/her transcribe the list of vaccinations that she has already taken or .. compete any vaccinations that she will need. once that is completed the civil surgeon can sign their name and seal the envelop for you. Send it along with the AOS documents when submitting everything to the USCIS.
Don't worry! the process is quick once the initial package is sent.
Good luck!

Hello guys! Just checking back in to see how everyone's doing ! ~~~ hubby will be looking for a job once he returns home before Christmas~ he went back to Korea for a month to visit his family ....
Wishing everyone's doing well!

Hello guys~ those of you that are waiting for the BIO--- you can always do an early walk in! it doesn't matter what date you have on your actual appt letter, you can walk in anytime with your appt letter and passports and take your fingerprints. Hubby received his GC today in the mail, 8 days after our AOS interview. So, definitely do the early walk in~ it saved us like 3 weeks of processing time

OUR AOS interview was so simple: these are what they have asked for~
- Proof of income: latest pay stub ( already submitted 2008, 2007 and 2006 tax return)
- Hubby's SSN, Drivers License, EAD Card
- Our Certified Marriage License
and THAT was it! asked him some questions for example if he was affiliated with any groups ~ etc.. no criminal records etc...
-
once you have your official copy of your certified marriage certificate, you can file for AOS. SSN is not needed. Although when you go in for your AOS interview you should have your SSN. Its not until later, I would suggest, get all of the paper work and documents ready to file for AOS.
-
SEE my time line:
a little less than 60 days. some people get it sooner
-
hey tommy's girl, looks like your case has been transfered to California~ usually represents that no interview is required !
i'm sure you will receive your approval soon
-
I am planning on changing my name but i intentionally didn't do so before the AOS interview. I think its just alot of work already and having to worry about a name change ~~ and more paperworks ~~
Now that my hubby has his GC, i'm going to start the process to change my last name & having it applied to all of my documents soon!
Hope everyone have a smooth VJourney!

Hi Y'all!
So the welcome notice for hubby's GC arrived in the mail today. He also received his D/L in the mail today, we couldn't get the DL until he actually had his EAD card so...
yay! i'm hoping that the GC comes in the mail~ next week! then we are finished with USCIS until Lifting Conditions 2 years later ^__________^
Horray! I am so thankful to have such a successful journey with my hubby!
8 month since we filed for K1 Visa he has received the welcome notice in the mail!
amazing! Thanks to VJers!!!!!!!!!

AFTER her AOS interview, you can go to INFOPASS and obtain a temporary travel pass. Just bring your trip itinerary with you.
My hubby passed his AOS interview and we were handed a piece of paper, basically a temporary paper stating that he is now a permanent resident of the U.S.

i have heard that happened before, after the interview they conduct further investigation. ~ it happens

Hubby and I passed our interview last Friday. He's wondering when he would receive his actual GC in the mail?
I want to check with the people that have already gone through the process ~ How long did it take you?
Thanks =)
-
ya we had our interview today and the officier was a bit confused that for K1 Visa we actually already had our completed medial ~~~ and we had to tell her the details and have her look through her files... if you had a medical done in your own country ~ then you shouldn't have to do it again as long as its within 1 year -)

Have any of you ever experienced receiving duplicate email on EAD card production?
Does the second one have a different meaning vs the very first notification?
